Anderson

Why would that be a good thing? Barca are a settled side, in peak form, as evidenced by their absolute belting of the 2nd best side in their league. Where as we are trying to work, out talisman back into form, along with 2 central midfielders who have been in prolonged slumps.

That's not an excuse, just that on current form, we really can't be judged to see 'where the team is properly'

You're right BTV.. just don't take what I said too literally. I meant us in good form v them in good form, just to judge what weaknesses this current side has and where we can improve.

Getting some praise in the media...
Anderson has only ever hinted at his potential since joining United from Porto - it's often forgotten he is in fact Ferguson's fifth most expensive signing ever - but in the past month he has started to play with a consistency that has previously eluded him. It was the Brazilian, 22, that caught the eye over Arsenal's own wonderkids Jack Wilshere and Samir Nasri, with his ability to pickpocket opponent's passes a frequent frustration for the away side. If he can add a shot to match his engine to drive forward and cover ground remarkably quickly, United might just have a complete midfielder on their hands.

Was just glad to see him in-form again. It's been a while, with the injury and all. Ando played very well (as did the rest of the team) considering part of the tactics consisted of not allowing Arsenal to play their usual game. Something has to give, and as a result the whole team were not playing with the kind of fluency we know they're capable of.

What was great about his game was his ability to drive forward with that kind of energy, purpose and speed. This is something none of our other central midfielders offer at the moment.

Does "ability to pickpocket opponent's passes" mean to make interceptions? Because Anderson made a grand total of zero against Arsenal.

Like I said earlier, he was okay against Arsenal, but his performance is being seriously overstated. The same problems persist.

Of the Premier League's Brazilian midfielders, I prefer Denilson and Lucas to Anderson. Ramires doesn't impress me either. Sandro hasn't played often yet but he will surely be an improvement on Palacios for Tottenham.

I hope the penny has finally dropped. Certainly has looked a class player over the last month. United have looked a different team since his introduction to the first team. Let's just hope his attitude and form is permanent and not just related to his contract negotiations.

PS: I can't still understand why he looks spent after about 65 minutes. Just does not make much sense for someone so young.

Which says a lot more about you than it does them.

Denilson FFS!

Your clueless.

Not training for 4-6 months with a broken leg, then gets another injury 1 year later doesn't actually increase your stamina.

He will get there, but being so young doesn't improve your stamina, its about training consistently for long periods, which Anderson has yet done.

Also, note that he ain't Park, he has 2 lungs.

Maybe Ando needs to start sipping some frog-style jumba juice.

Now now lads, I'm not sure how much sports you guys have played, but regarding stamina I'm sure it ain't just the fitness coach and youth on this.

Just telling from my own experience, I used to be one of the regulars for my Engineering Basketball team, I got injured and twisted my ankle so bad, I had to rest for 1 month.

Coming back from that, I just found out I lost like 50% of my stamina, from being able to run/sprint for 10kms, you find that you can only run at 5km, of course the stamina didn't come over night as I had endless training sessions which counted up to around 8 hrs of practicing a day.

So seriously, Ando has been out for what, 7 months, and before that 4-5 months ? I'm certain that before his broken leg ( Porto ) he couldn't last 90 minutes playing with full energy like he is playing now either, so being injured damaged that and it used almost 10 games before he really got into a rhythm, even his debut season, he was substituted often as it was stamina issues.

Its the same now, he has been away for ages, coming back from a long term injury, not me mention hasn't been playing consistently.

He'll need at least another 10-15 games, or even more before he can last 90minutes with his current style of play, I'm already impressed that the fitness coach and Anderson's determination has got him this far already, trust me, 2 months ago people on the caf were calling for his head, only a few like Anderson Searl, the Chief, and those who knew how MF's would act protected the lad.

Its a totally different story now ain't it ?

well said m8.

I've been one of his biggest critics here Sultan. Looking at him these last few weeks, he looks like a different man in attitude.

I think as he gets matches he'll be able to last longer.

Johnmufc is added to the long list of people on crack here. Are you really a United supporter? Because you are suggesting you want LUCAS and DENILSON for feck sake at United? Its ok even if you don't like Anderson. I was not happy with him either and was calling for his head but after seeing his performances this past month, I have changed my mind.

He must one of the first names to go on that team sheet nowadays for us. Anderson has really stepped up and it has eased a little bit of our midfield problems, which does not mean we don't need to replace Scholes with an outside source. But he has certainly lifted us with his energy and enthusiasm.

tbf he has not played all that many games since his return. He will reach full match fitness after a couple more matches imo.

Just hope we tie him up on a long contract now. We cannot afford to lose this lad.

With maturity he will start to hit the ball towards goal with confidence. Now he is almost shy to try to score. I can't pin point what the main issue is. When was the last time he spoke English? Can he express himself well in English? Some foreigners suffer confidence issues if they can't express themselves properly to people around him. I don't know if he fears for the harsh criticism he will suffer from Rooney and Berba if he messes up. I just don't know, just conjecturing here

He needs the killer finishing desire of Scholes. Can it be taught? I would love to know if any of the coaches are concentrating on this. It is also good that SAF is allowing him to go forward at will now. There are no chains anymore and soon people will see the attacking player maker they thought we never had.

You can't think of one time in that game when he pickpocketed an opponents pass? You're kidding, surely?

You've this incessant need to prove how you see midfield play differently to (better than, if we're honest) the majority of others on here. Something tells me that's part of the reason you're exaggerating the Anderson criticism.

It's the one blot on his copy book at the moment. Hopefully we can put it down to the fact that he's still putting a run of games together for the first time in a while...

Good signs from Anderson, he's doing well and started to up his game. Lets hope this isn't a flash in the pan but a sign that he's finally arrived. He's looking far more positive and seems to have changed position, playing higher up the pitch. He certainly looks like he has a point to prove and good for him to rise to the challenge.

He should be starting alongside Carrick & Fletcher against Chelsea. But we'll probably go with 4-4-2 and leave him on the bench. Will be interesting to see if he's risen above Fletcher given his recent performances or whether Ferguson will resort to Fletchers big game experience.

Signed a new 4 year deal :D

So many parallels with Nani. He too came back from the dead and was fantastic for us and got a 4 year deal :D

Anderson signs new deal

Manchester United is pleased to announce that Anderson has signed a new four and a half year contract keeping him at the Club until at least June 2015.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We are delighted Anderson has signed a new contract. Anderson has developed tremendously since joining the Club and he has fantastic potential at only 22 years of age, he is going to be a really top player.”

Anderson said: “This is the best Club to be at and I would like to thank everyone for the great support I have received over the years. I am looking forward to winning many more trophies with this Club and I am so pleased to have signed a new contract.”

This is how all our contract negotiations should be. Unheard of until the player signs a deal. Come on Evra sign up please!

You're not the only poster who's thought that, but he continues to make fools of all of you.

Thankfully some are beginning to see sense, but John you're coming across quite dogmatic on the issue.

Denilson is nowhere near on the same page as Anderson.. he has no drive, offers very little and I remember PeterStorey claiming Denilson was better than Anderson which tells you all you need to know. Lad is distinctly average and I don't know what Wenger see's in him.

As for Lucas, he's a good player.. has alot of energy but he's not in my opinion the same level of Anderson creatively. He despite being pretty talented, is a conservative passer and doesn't have that forceful match winning personality Anderson can produce when at his best in a creative sense. Leagues ahead of Anderson defensively though.

With Ramires its probably too early to tell, kinda like Jon Obi Mikel atm.. zero personality in his game thus far. It's the Chelsea curse though, they just turn promising talents into robots but who knows.

Anything would be better than Palacios in his current state.

2 games ago I'd have thought 'meh' but he's pulled 2 sublime performances out of the bag and the obvious hope is he can maintain it because there's room in that team for a performing Anderson.

Great news, and .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... HE SHITS ON FABREGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm withholding my judgement on his scoring abilities for the moment. Yes, he's been very poor on that front in his time here, but in his first run of form in what seems like years, he's scored one and nearly got another in four games. Not exactly prolific or earth shattering I grant you, but if he keeps getting into positions in the box and learning how best to deal with those chances, he could start increasing his strike rate reasonably easily.
