Anderson

If he is kept at United to play as a 442 CM long-term, I'd sell him tomorrow if I could. I'm yet to make my mind up of what kind of player he is as part of a 3 man midfield though, I think it might suit him a lot more.

Unfortunately I think the first option is much more likely than the shape of the team changing like that though, at least under Fergie.

feck me in every orifice. Though he looked sharp. So much for that silver lining.

Yeh you could see he was injured whilst he was chasing the lad that had the shot that lead to the 3rd goal.

He had a few dodgy defensive moments actually. I thought he was good going forward though.

Yup. He was marking thin air as usual in the build up to Bilbao's second goal.

He's fecking terrible. He really is. No brain and unprofessional to boot.

The problem we have with Anderson is we can almost never comment on his performances since he's perpetually coming back from injury/not match fit.

I think the problem is that he's more interested in eating pies than playing football. I could tell that by the looks in his eyes last night

Sell him. The guy has been at the club 5 years and hasn't improved at all. Don't even get me started regarding his injury record.

Time for us to cut our losses and replace him with someone that will actually bring something to the squad other than keeping the physios employed.

Indeed.

I tend to defend him because I think, when match fit, he has proven to be a very talented centre mid who offers something our other midfielders do not. That's the ability to hold the ball up without releasing it and make space for himself with his strength and also the ability to drive forward at pace with the ball at his feet.

However, as you say, he's just not match fit nearly often enough and that has to be taken into account when you judge him as a player. You want your players to be at a certain level at all times and regardless of the reason and whether luck is involved, Anderson just hasn't been at that level enough.

I was one who was willing to see this potential which some fans were talking about, but i just don't see it happening.

There really does come a point when you just have to cut your losses. I mean how many more seasons do we give him. I'm all for showing patience in young players but everyone has a limit and I've more than reached mine with Anderson. When you factor in the situation with Fletcher, the age of Giggs and Scholes and Cleverley's slightly worrying injury record then you simply have to make a tough decision somewhere. It's not a tough decision as far as I'm concerned but it would be for Fergie having spent £20m (30 million euros) on him. I still think that ultimately he'll get another season. So if we were to sign a central midfielder that would leave us with seven in a squad of 25. The risk is you then have to leave yourselves a bit light in other positions. It's really not a good situation.

An utter disaster. People complain about a lack of investment but we signed two completely crocked players for forty fecking million pounds.

We signed both those players about 5 years ago and then you look into the amount of mistakes other clubs have made. I guess after despite the size of the club we lack the investment for Fergie to make a punt on certain players.

He's taken loads of punts on players for decent money and nearly all of them have been wingers and strikers. That's not the Glazers fault.

Our last top midfield buy was Carrick at £18.6m

Hargreaves - £17m
Anderson £17m

These two have kind of bombed. Nani at £14m has done well though.

Hargreaves was definitely a gamble as can been seen through his injury plagued seasons at Bayern.

Anderson still has time and over the last year, when he has played, he has shown all the right signs.

I think Nani at 14m is bargain. He is a sensational player proved by both is his displays on the field and stats.

Anderson was €30m, Porto released the figure a while ago. So hexwas more than Carrick

Was all of it paid upfront? From what I assume, may not be correct at all, they add up all the addons and then release the figures.

Who knows. Carrick was only 14m upfront, the rest was reliant on appearances etc

An utter disaster? Silly comment.

He almost did enough in his first season alone to justify the fee. We would've been fecked without Anderson then, actually. When Scholes was injured, he stepped up against all sorts of top teams to the extent that there was no problem at all. This in a season when we won the double.

Basically, he was an important player in one of the most successful seasons this club has ever had, and has been good in spurts after that. To say he's been a disaster is crazy talk.

Has anyone else lost hope in Anderson? There's just too much wrong with his game for him to turn it around in my opinion. He just doesnt seem like a very clever player either and makes the same mistakes now that he has been making for the last 4 or 5 years.

Not only that, but why are we bringing him back when he is so out of shape? We don't like the attitude that our youngsters are showing, but how about this lazy feck letting himself go every time he gets injured. I actually laughed when seeing his fat arse running onto that pitch last night.

Yeah I'm losing hope, too many injuries too I feel.

Yeh I was going to say that. I criticise him a bit, and the jury is out on him.

But he did well when he came on last night. Atleast it looked like something might happen in the final 3rd.

But you thought that you'd wait for someone else to say it first, don't wanna be on your own with an opinion ey? Much easier jumping on a band waggon I suppose. Not personal.
