Anderson

Right, but that's not the point I'm making, or the point marjen made. He commented on that picture saying it shocked him. I'm wondering if the picture taken more recently, which shows him looking pretty normal and in tighter clothes, also shocks him.

you read the daily mail?

Not the paper, no. Often peruse the website though. My missus has it constantly open on the iPad. The comments section is the best bit. Depending on the article you get a bunch of fat middle-aged hausfraus laying into soap actors with the tiniest hint of bodily imperfection or borderline neo-nazis moaning about political correctness gone bad. It's comedy gold.

It's a whole two posts above the "obese Anderson" picture, you can't really blame him for not seeing it.

FWIW, I think both Anderson and Rooney have looked pretty trim this pre-season. Which is encouraging.

Yeah, it also doesn't support the argument that he's a fat wasting bastard so I suppose marjen didn't want to see it anyway.

We have this every pre season.

Anderson isn't fat. I can see that by looking at him with my eyes. Not to mention you think he'd have been here all this time if he was a fatty?

And then there's this picture from the Shanghai Shenhua game:

This is from the last game.

And this picture from the Valerenga game:

He is not fat.

Anderson's not actually fat. He's had his top off a fair few times after games at Old Trafford, and it's genuinely the size of his shoulders and leg muscles that make him look so big. There is no belly on him, even if he's not quite as toned as some others. He's definitely not got as much fat on him as Tevez had whilst at West Ham.

I'm guessing he would shite all over the majority of you lot on here in a fat caliper test.

Yep, agreed. Both look in good condition, the usual dramatic bollocks is out in force though.

Rooney is always fit and playing every minute of every game though. Same can't be said for Anderson.

It is in fairness probably pointless to debate his weight, time will tell, but he's always had fitness issues and constantly struggles to complete 90 minutes in games without looking completely knackered. That needs to change.

fecks sake this thread is embarrassing.

Incredible. Are people that desperate for new signings they'll make up one of our current
midfielders is fat.

Why do you assume it's because they want a new signing?

I hope Anderson steps it up this season, he has to because it's clear at this stage we won't sign a midfielder. Maybe people are just disappointed to see him looking out of shape because this is make or break time for him and if we're going to do well this season he needs to stay fit and be able to play full games on a regular basis.

But he clearly is fit and it's clearly just a slightly bad photo.

The idea that we'd just accept one of our midfielders being "obese" is ridiculous.

How the feck does he look out of shape now? He's looked trim as anyone on this tour. You have such a set agenda on everything, it's like you have to reshape reality to fit it sometimes.

Yes Pexbo, I've set it in my mind that he's out of shape because I want him to fail here, despite constantly saying we should hold on to him whilst others on here say we should get rid, and constantly saying I want him to step it up. Have you seen that picture? He most certainly doesn't look as 'trim' as Hernandez in it.

That's what people have to do.

There is a group of people who think we NEED a central midfielder. Thus it makes sense to insult Anderson for being fat even if he clearly isn't, then it's just another problem midfielder we have and need to replace.

A 'group'? You mean everyone on this board who isn't you and Pexbo?

Maybe, just maybe people do infact look at Anderson and think he looks out of shape? is that so hard to fathom?

Anderson is a problem midfielder because he cannot stay fit for a decent period of time. It's no wonder people are going to scrutinze him for the slightest. Everybody wants Anderson to succeed but 5 seasons have past and every time he's shown a bit of good form he's only went and suffered another injury, and come back looking unfit and hopeless.

Anderson will come good. He's just gone through that difficult 5 year bedding in peroid that all top footballers go through

Obviously, it will be 6 years after this season, but he WILL come good dammit.

We DO NEED a central midfielder.

Don't think the Anderson comments have anything whatsoever to do with anyone wanting to sign a new player. Where do you get this shit from? Seriously :wenger:

If anyone so much as says a United player isn't world class, Twigginater goes off on one.

I bet he has a United duvet set, matching curtains and wallpaper, the turnip

In the past few months I've seen

A) threads calling Anderson fat
B) people criticising Tom cleverly for having his own brand
C) suggesting phil Jones shoul change his girlfriend for the betterment of his career

It's pathetic. I'm not some massive superfan it's just all this tabloid heat gossip can fecking do one as far as I am concerned.

Anderson is clearly not fat. We have people calling for him to be sold based on a slightly unflattering picture.

It's alright, Anderson shat over Gerrard and Fabregas once upon a time so that's good enough for me.

No, people called for him to be sold because he's spent the best part of 5 years in and out of the treatment room and not showing enough when he's been in the team. 5 years is a long time in a footballers career and he's not shown much in it. You wonder why some people might want him moved on?

Twiggy

Anderson IS over weight. He's a pudding
Cleverley needs to do something before setting up his 'brand' It's cringeworthy. He will be a brilliant player but ffs, let him do his talking on the pitch for a couple of seasons before he thrusts that ridiculous website on to us
I can't really comment on Phil Jones' wench because I have no idea who he is banging.

Fair enough.

People in this thread have said they wanted him gone because he's fat. That's ridiculous.

Right, and do you reckon that's because Anderson hasn't even played 50 games over the last 3-4 years? What kind of point are you trying to make? Do you think Rooney would have played every minute if he had the injuries Anderson had had, or are you making the point that Anderson doesn't play purely because he isn't fit and that stems from his diet not his injuries, or what? The two things aren't related. Rooney plays because he isn't injured, Anderson I'd imagine would play more, if he was injured less.

See what I mean?

Embarrassing.

A pudding FFS.

I don't actually want him gone, I want him to prove me wrong but it's getting harder and harder to take when he's suffering all these setbacks after showing a little bit of promise. This year has to be his last and if he cannot stay fit and become a regular fixture in the side then i think it's curtains for him.

Twiggleton, you obviously rate Anderson. I don't. And a hell of a lot of other people don't.

If we sold him today, not many people would be gutted. He's had 5 years to make his mark at United and he's fell short. I don't see where or when he's going to get better. My opinion of course. If you find that embarrassing, I feel sorry for you. You need to take of the red tinted specs and see the bigger picture.

I'm not the one who brought Rooney into this. My point was that people are going to be far more inclined to forgive Rooney for being a bit 'out of shape' because he plays so many games for us and always delivers. The same cannot be said for Anderson, hence people will be more likely to get pissed off if he does look unfit.

I've no idea if the weight has an impact on Anderson's fitness though, there's something up though, even when he does have a consistent run of games he never looks fully fit, have you ever seen him play full games twice a week without looking absolutely knackered after around 60 minutes?

Oh so we started last season shite did we? Fair enough.
No, we started well but don't let the results cloud your judgement, you surely remember how easily our midfield were bypassed even by the likes of West Brom and weakened Spurs/Arsenal sides. We were extremely lucky that those sides couldn't finish off some of those chances. Arsenal game was crazy, Chelsea game they could have scored 5 or 6 if Torres head wasn't up his arse. We were entertaining that's for sure but it's not a style we could maintain for a whole season.

No but in

picture, taken just 24 hours previously, he looks no less 'trim' than Paul Scholes.

As always happens in discussions like this, people are seeing what they want to see and ignoring any evidence to the contrary.

He's definitely not Fat. Stockily built lad. His problems go farther than how thin/fat he is so i dunno why its caused this big a discussion.

We were extremely lucky that those sides couldn't finish off some of those chances.

We were extremely lucky Arsenal didn't also score 8 goals? Um...

All this talk about how many chances we gave up in that early run of astonishing form tends to neglect one vital matter when pinning it on the midfield. We played Phil Jones at CB throughout, and Phil Jones is a terrible CB.
