We were extremely lucky Arsenal didn't also score 8 goals? Um...

Goals change games, but no lets just forget that we conceded more clear cut chances than any other side in the first 5 or 6 games, we completely dominated everyone in our path.

No but in
index160.html
picture, taken just 24 hours previously, he looks no less 'trim' than Paul Scholes.

I wouldn't agree with that.

People always see different things, just because someone thinks he looks out of shape and you don't, does that automatically make them wrong?

It's not exactly a rare thing for footballers to look out of shape in pre season, you know.

No, we started well but don't let the results cloud your judgement, you surely remember how easily our midfield were bypassed even by the likes of West Brom and weakened Spurs/Arsenal sides. We were extremely lucky that those sides couldn't finish off some of those chances. Arsenal game was crazy, Chelsea game they could have scored 5 or 6 if Torres head wasn't up his arse. We were entertaining that's for sure but it's not a style we could maintain for a whole season.

Completely agree with that. Posted something similar in a different thread yesterday, it was about, the Ando/Cleverley partnership. People forget how many chances we conceaded in those games and use them as a pedastil for Ando. Attacking wise we were great, but it wasn't sustainable.

Twigginater - people don't want a new midfielder because Anderson is 'fat' we want one because we're lacking in that department. It's glaringly obvious.

Anderson isn't good enough for United. He may be a good player but he just hasn't cut it here.

All this talk about how many chances we gave up in that early run of astonishing form tends to neglect one vital matter when pinning it on the midfield. We played Phil Jones at CB throughout, and Phil Jones is a terrible CB.

Actually, that's a good point. I've been banging on for a while about how Anod/Clev didn't protect our back four enough but it didn't occur to me that the back four in question needed more protection than most!

I wasn't lauding Anderson. I must admit to not being his biggest fan.

More our style of play and the fact we were being walked through when the partnership broke up anyway...almost more so.

Carrick started to perform and we looked more 'solid' but lost some fluidity for me.

I hope I'm wrong about Anderson.

What "automatically makes them wrong" is the existence of a photograph which clearly shows that is not "obese" taken within 24 hours of one which caused all this latest drama. Nothing to do with opinions. The photo is there for all to see.

Photo 1 surfaced, showing Anderson in a loose shirt, which caused concerns of him being 'obese' or 'fat'. Photo 2 was actually further up the page and happened to be a more recent picture, with a tighter shirt, showing Anderson as fine. The whole recent discussion was sparked from Photo 1, despite Photo 2 being a much better indicator of his current fitness. That's why this is funny. People are using the older photo as an indication of his lack of fitness, despite the more recent one going against that. Of course you can't really tell anything by photo's, which makes the whole thing even more ridiculous, further more, because we've already seen him playing in pre-season where none of these concerns were raised.

Obese is obviously a ridiculous word to use, but based on the photographs I think it's fair to say he doesn't look fully in shape, but that's just me.

Okay.

my apologies...i read that line and could only think of Jerry Springer.

FWIW i think it's a bit of myth myself.

He's not fat. It's like the who fat frank thing. He really wasn't ever fat.

No, Lampard never was, I didn't understand that either. He's never come across as a particularly slow or lazy player, and didn't look visually fat.

There is a difference between not having a ripped stomach and being fat. I've never seen Anderson with a proper belly.

It's another stick to beat him with because he hasn't lived up to expectations.

I'd be quite happy to be as fat as Frank Lampard.

Anderson's fat grin on his face makes his face look wider than it is...
Chicharito still looks like a lesbian btw.

Ok true story.. I had this weird dream last night, and in it at one point I was watching a United pre-season match. A few moments after kickoff, Anderson started pummeling Evra in the face with his fists, which ended up sending Evra injured to the bench with three nasty cuts around his eyes.

I think Evra was symbolic for Redcafe and Anderson just didn't like the abuse he gets anymore.

i hope he starts this season in the same way he started last season and manages to stay fit. I really want him to succeed here!

Who/what determines a 'success'? :D

For me, staying fit and able for the season woud be a huge success!

Forget the discussion about him being fat why the feck has he got a tattoo of a map on his arm?

I'm not Anderson's biggest fan by any means, but some of you guys are crazy. It's clearly just a particularly bad picture, which is proven by basically every single one of his other recent pictures.

I think he looks fitter than normal. However, what exactly does he do? The only time I realise he is playing is when he has hit yet another shot into Row Z. I just don't rate him. He doesn't score goals, he is not a fantastic passer like Scholes. He isn't a great tackler. Maybe I am being harsh.

From F365:

A Mediawatch correspondent, in what he described as a 'bored moment at lunch' found himself looking through Anderson's Instagram account on Tuesday.

No, us neither, but our man discovered that, of the five most recent photographs, one was of a substantial plate of spaghetti carbonara, another a plate of mozzarella and salami, and the first was a nightclub.

Hard to imagine why he hasn't quite lived up to the promise, really.

Well if that ain't proof he's a fattie then I don't know what is ;)

he's twice the player messi is and I don't mean that in a good way

looking chunky this evening

hopefully he gets a good workout tonight

Hate how this myth has become reality. It has been disproved for this season.

Heard he did well today. Did he?
