Anderson

I think Cleverley is a player that can make almost anyone look good playing with him in midfield, but there is a nice balance and understanding between them.

So could Kleberson, but for all the wrong reasons.

Maybe we'll do something like this in certain games:

-------------De Gea--------------
Valencia---Rio---Vidic-----Evra---
------------Carrick-----------
-------Cleverley--Anderson---
Nani----------------------Kagawa
------------Rooney

The Kagawa signing certainly gives us a lot of options it's safe to say. He's quality behind the front man though...whatever our strongest line up is, it's probably got him behind Rooney in it.

So good to see Anderson playing well in these last two games, there may well be a big future for him here yet. :D

I think he's shown a bit of a step up in maturity in these last few games. If we don't sign anyone for the middle I think he'll be important as the likely alternative to carrick. For some games the trio of him clev and kagawa could really overwhelm some teams. He just needs to keep his focus more consistently and obv stay fit.

Yep, good goal.

There'll be an argument that he didn't do much movement throughout the match but I think he played well overall.

Really excited about Ando's prospects in this new season. He better not get injured.

Why no Gif yet?

Where's Olly when you need him?

Anderson loves one-twos. And his pace means he usually gets to the return too. He should enjoy playing Kagawa in that respect just as he did with Cleverley last season.

He could, and that is a massive could, turn into our Yaya. He's still young for a centre midfielder, in my opinion - he has the strength, the burst and creativity to do so.

That was a lovely goal, something we thought he'd be doing on a regular basis for us when we first signed him. Here's hoping we see it more this season.

lets just hope his fitness doesn't interrupt his progress

I just want to see him play consistently for a season and put in some consistently good performances

He actually looked as lean as I can remember him being.

The main thing for him is to get a good run of games in order to keep his fitness in check. Gr needs to play consistently in order to remain in top form. I think the fact he has had so many injuries is what has really hindered his career more than anything.

Agreed, he has the skillset for it and has shown he's capable of putting in performances of that calibre. There's a lot of coulds, ifs and maybes with Anderson as ever, but he's well worth persisting with. I think it's a credit to him to be honest that he's had so many injuries yet still looks like he could become a proper player.

When he's not in Hollywood mode, his ability to pick a through pass is extremely impressive, and I think the only player I have seen outmuscle him is Toure himself. Definitely not as fast as he was when he first arrived, but he seems to be gradually shaking off this goalscoring problem.

The thing with Anderson, is he does this every season - he looks fitter and better in pre-season, then has a set back.

On one hand - why would you bring in a midfielder when we have the likes of Cleverley and Anderson who are young and, when on form and injury free are more than capable - in addition to Carrick and Scholes. The problem is we have to keep them both fit and on form.

We have enough players in midfield - they just all have issues. Everyone can see there is an issue there, but I really think Fergie is reluctant to bring someone in because he believes Anderson can make it here.

I think it all (the decision to bring someone in or not) hinges on Anderson, and I think it did last year also.

I think he has had to re-shape his game as a result of the series of injuries. I dont think he will ever be the potential Ronaldinho of the past again -- just doesnt seem to have that burst of speed that he used to have anymore.

Big season for Anderson, make or break me thinks, cracking goal but such gems against Jock opposition in a pre-season friendly are no marker for the season - however, I really hope he can kick on this season.

True he's still young, but I truly doubt he can be "the next Yaya". He's a great player when going forward and everything, but seriously lacks the discipline and "skill" needed on the defensive end.
I like him, I really do, I just don't expect that much from him anymore for the past 2 seasons. I think he can still do a good job and everything, but my expectations of him went down after a while.

I don't think he ever was. That was just lazy journalists sticking a label on a talented young Brazilian who also happened to be black and had long hair.

Yeah, think a load of people got a carried away because of the whole Gremio/Brazilian aspect. The other only similarity I can see in the two players is that at some point they've both done that variant on the 'flip flap' trick.

Could still be great, though. He definitely has nowhere near the technique, skill or flair of Ronaldinho, but he's got some quality attributes.

Edit: Saying that, I never actually saw him in a full game for Porto or Gremio. He could've been extremely Ronaldinho-esque for those two for all I know.

Yeah, I was going to mention that. I think it's called an ''elastico'?

Youtube footage shows young Brazilian player with dreds doing an elastico. Well obviously, he's the next Ronaldinho...

Yeah, I think you're right. He sort of half did it against Blackburn from what I remember at Old Trafford. Did it right infront of the south stand, but didn't wrap back with the same foot.

Quality trick, to be fair. I once did it on my mate and he looked like he was going to pass out afterwards. Genuinely didn't have a clue what day it was. Proud moment, despite it only happening in some random park in Altrincham. :D

Exactly, Andersons always had the talent, but perhaps lacked the motivation to really further himself, perhaps because he won so much when he first joined he thinks well whats the point?. Now he is really getting his head down, and wants to become better player.

He is still bloody young too lets not forget.

At the end of the day it came against no mark opposition in a pre season friendly with 3 or 4 plays over the age of 40 on the park...

He'll need to impress this season. He has talent, no doubt.

What are the quality attributes he has?

Since he lost that burst of pace, I see little to be honest.

Let's just hope Ando stays fit and disciplined, that's the bare minimum i ask of him. If he can do that, the rest of his game will come naturally. I remembered Nani's game just naturally came on during the fine month of January in 2009 and he just kicked on from there. What a transformation

If we would play him more in his natural position, maybe he would look like that more often, never liked him at defensive midfielder role.

He's always more offensive than whoever he plays next to so he's clearly never picked in a defensive midfielder role.

While he's strong for a player his size, Yaya Toure is twice as strong. Anderson could jump on his back and it wouldnt stop him.

Other than that, offensively I guess so but Toure clearly finishes better right now. And even though its definitely one of Anderson's strengths he still goes for a dribble a fair bit less often. The goal is another example of why we should see him try it more
