No idea why he hit it so high, but in the end it turned out to be a good pass. Made it to the player and they had enough time to get it under control and head up before the defender had closed him down.

I must have watched a different game yesterday. His performance wasn't even close to being poor.
As I said yesterday, he did well. He made some great driving runs from deep too to start some attacking plays.

Well, to an extent, you can understand that. I don't expect him to be like Yaya Toure because he's a different type of player, but ultimately, I won't be happy with him as a player until he actually becomes a top quality player who can boss the middle, even if it's in more of a controlling games sense. That's what we signed him for, is it not? Why should we simply settle for any less than that?
Of course, I'll be more than happy to praise him when he does have a good game, but that doesn't mean I'll lower my expectations of him at all.
Tbf people should remember that most of Toure's goals come when he's moved in to essentially an attacking mid position. He still gets a better return then our midfielders currently do in a deeper role but he certainly doesn't get the majority of his goals when starting in a deeper role.
I thought he had a good game by the way, it'd just be nice to see him fully fit and not getting subbed off. Hopefully that stops with a few more matches.
Still don't think him and Cleverley is a stable midfield combo though, it just doesn't work.

Agree with your point on it not being up to scratch when not in possession. Either Anderson or Cleverley with Carrick will be good. Or both with Carrick is another option.
The big concern is where we go if Carrick's not available. Then we're in to Jones territory.
If we sign Dembélé, will he solve our requirement for a player capable of screening the backline? Not for me. He's played in a two for Fulham yesterday, but had the ultra conservative Diarra alongside him...
Dembélé isn't the solution. Just a good player who overwhelmed our midfielders yesterday.

I liked Anderson yesterday and what I liked about him is why I think he still has a chance at a big future here. He was quite strong in a lot of situations but, also he always has it in him to drive the ball up field instead of just looking to play a backward or sideways pass. A simple example was he was on the left touch line at midfield and had an easy pass back but, was able to turn up field and drive almost to Fulham's box putting the pressure on their defense.
His passing seemed quite strong yesterday, some one hit cross field passes and some nice passes along the ground to play the likes of Evra into attacking positions. Hopefully him along with Cleverely can stay injury free as both give us very good dynamic options in CM.
As far as Dembele goes instead of him, he was good and it would be nice to have a bit stronger player as an option as we do need that options against certain CM that can be physically imposing.

Dembele did just a good a job at robbing the ball off our players, than he did with driving the ball upfield.
You dont need to be a bone crunching last ditch defender like jon terry to look impressive, dembele could become a similar player to busquets imo.
He played a good first half yesterday. The thing with Anderson is for him to keep up the standard for 90 minutes and over a run of games and away from home when it is tougher. We'll see. Overall, Cleverley was better yesterday.

Agree with the latter. Defensive weaknesses of that Cleverley/ Ando axis still very evident, particularly in second half. They never seem to fill the spaces they should. Can't be doing with those acres of space that Dembele strode into being there at OT against the likes of Fulham, no disrespect intended.
Anderson and Cleverley are just fantastic to watch when they play together in midfield. Only issue is how do we use it without being too easy to drive through the centre. Anderson so far doesn't seem to play as well with Carrick. Hopefully Cleverley will.
Cleverley was the better of the duo, but he's also had the advantage of playing for GB and England before the season began. Fitness wise, he's probably as ready as any player in the United squad.
Anderson did just fine considering that was his first competitive start in a long while. He'll get fitter and stronger as the weeks go on, and we'll see him dealing with the 90 minutes before long.
Ando was great on Saturday, but the thing is that we already know that those are the type of games that he's very good in.
Let's hope he can avoid injury long enough to actually reach match fitness this season.
Anderson is as good a CM as you'll find just injury prone. Let's hope this season we keep him fit.
For me Cleverley and Anderson only works correctly defensively if you have carrick screening which then means you have to consider whether Kagawa moves to the left which isn't what i'd want to see just yet.

Well Ando's chalkboard is pretty impressing. I saw the highlights again and I didn't think that Dembele come so much on top of him, they both had their moments. As far as I can see Clev and Ando dominated the first half.
IMO our biggest problem is that we in the second half defend to low and with not enough aggression. Just look at Liverpools transformation and how they improve with the right attitude. Our midfield suffer from that and especially Anderson who have a natural aggression in his game. His big weakness is his stamina and if he can improve that he are a hell of a player. I believe he will become the player we all want him to be, we are close now.
