The lad's really coming into his own now. Covered every bit of ground today, ran non-stop and only bettered by Park for energy expended on the pitch. He's strong enough to muscle bigger players off the ball and he's very aware of space to play the ball into.

Such progress in such a short time is very promising for the future.

:boring:

He had a shot taken in a close situation stopped with a brilliant save, another shot which went just wide.

Pathetic infront of goal tonight was our highest paid player and striker who hasn't scored from open play in 9 months and now he's being paid to fluff penalties.

This.
Haters gon' hate.

It was a good attempt from him. Did the right thing by trying to dink the keeper. Would have scored too had it not been for some great keeping. Made himself very big, great save.

He's been fantastic lately. And to think I thought he was shite.

He was okay.

Good strength on the ball and looked to support Rooney. This is somewhat encouraging.

However, his passing was very erratic and unsurprisingly he was out of energy after around 60 minutes.

I expected nothing more or less from you to be honest.

You have to find something to have a moan about and even your praise is half arsed!

3/4 games in a row now that he has been impressive & he seems to be improving the whole time.

He has a great engine in him, constantly looking for the ball & when he gets it he heads straight for the opposition goal, seeing him back helping out our defense winning the ball in vital areas etc is great to see, turning out to be a great box to box central midfielder.

He's looking more of a goal threat too which is a part of his game we've never really got to see. If it wasn't for a good save by that keeper then he'd have had his 2nd goal in two games - great to see his confidence growing every game and he's making himself practically undroppable.

Seeing him develop the way he has over the past couple of games has for me been a highlight of the season.

Hes done very well since he came back. As Gray said before the game, it seems like he decided to be a great footballer after all and realised that he playes in a great team.

I am not surprised that he was tired later on, he played now 4 or 5 games in a row and just came back from a long injury. But will definately start against Chelsea, hopefully next to Scholes and Carrick

I think you're being a bit harsh there mate. Players in his position are not expected to tot up a 90% pass completion rate due to the difficulty in execution of the passes. A lot of our attacking intent came through him, he was very, very impressive today. Must be ahead of Fletcher atm now surely? In a 4-4-2 anyway.

Oh I'm sorry he's clearly a prolific goalscorer. fecking hell I post a positive message in this thread (I've always had faith in/ stuck up for Anderson) but I acknowledge that he looks impotent in front of goal, that makes me a hater? I'm just noting a part of his game that needs to be seriously worked on, that chance was as routine as it gets and should have finished off the game.

Very good game today, apart from the free-kick. Seemed strong on the ball, full of drive, and had some nice passing moments with Rooney.

I wouldn't say it was a straight forward finish - he looked to dink it over the keeper but he made himself big and crdit goes to the keeper on that occasion.

You said his finishing was awful which it wasnt. You were wrong. It was a good save.

Everyone knows its a part of his game he need to work on, but today it wasnt the case, and besides that's not what you said anywAY.

That 30 yard burst after outstrengthening Wilshire on the age of our box was after the 60 minute mark so he lasted much longer than sixty minutes. In fact for me most of Anderson's best work was done in the second half today.

He was also clearly better than okay and United's best midfielder on the night.

Whenever I see you post about any United central midfielder other than Scholes or Carrick I can't help be reminded of Tumbling Dice's Brokenback Carrick comment from a while back because you do seem very biased.

Another very good game tonight, he battled well for the ball without lunging, he took kicks and didn't roll around like a pussy and he was at the center of our two best chances.

I'm still not convinced. He's produced performances in a three man midfield against the big boys before.

Arsenal ... Chelsea ... these are energetic, open matches which suit Anderson's talents - energy, athleticism, tenacity and power.

Against teams that pack it in and defend (e.g. Bolton, Fulham) his loose passing and poor finishing become apparent.

He is still far from the finished product, and I'm not really sure how much improvement I've seen from him since he came to United.

he was ok but he needs to pass the ball better if he really wants to replace Paul Scholes

Outstanding display.

Needs to be selected for Chelsea. Will be very disappointed if he’s not.

Has anyone else noticed that he's been getting a bit further forward recently? Cutting his teeth in the out and out defensive role in his formative years with us is going to be of massive value in the future. Reengaging the Gremio attacking flair while still maintaining full defensive clout, he could be awesome. I still believe!!!

:wenger:

he's far from the finished product at 22? really? :p

If only his tackle on the edge of the box and lung-busting run had resulted in a goal.

It would be one of those ones that you watch on loop constantly and never get bored of it.

feck it, get a gif on the go anyway. It was class to watch until Nani screwed it up.

Some tend to forget that players playing in the position he played today arn't expected to contribute to much in the defensive phase.

He could just sit in the center circle and wait for us to win the ball but he does not. he tracks back closes down opponents and then gets forward asap.

Just think of other attacking midfielders, ozil, ronaldinho, van der vaart, sneijder etc. None of these is usually seen makes tackles at the edge of the area.

This is y he tires in the final part of games. Still, I think he can get fitter and will eventually be able to last 90 mins.

My only gripe about him is that often when he gets in and around the penalty box he seems to not quite know what to do. also his passing is still quite erratic but i think that this is because he often tries to force the play rather then simply retian possesion. Hopefully with expireince his descsion making will improve

That may have been his best performance for us. Probably had everything except for the goal. His movement, the spark he adds to our midfield, the ability to run with the ball through the middle - he makes such a huge difference when he's not in his headless chicken mode. If he maintains those standards, other things will face into play - decision making, goalscoring and such. But those are the basic things he has to keep doing.

Hope is here again, Anderson may make it with us after all.

Where the hell have these last 2 performances come from?

Wierdly, it was against Arsenal last season which Nani used as a platform to step up, can Anderson do the same?

Possibly been given a kick up the backside. And hasn't he playing in a more advanced role recently?

he has and that may be what he always felt was his best position,

I thought his tackling, ball control and possession were excellent today.

I was standing up clapping :)

excellent time to have him hitting form.

this is the best I have felt about our chances for the title spoons...and it is not just about us being top. It was about us being disciplined, especially at the back.

Yeah, a lot positives. I think we're lucky that other sides aren't particularly as strong as they've been in recent season. And that includes us.
