Anderson

He was brilliant! needs a bit of composure and we would have some player! very pleased with his improvement, long may it continue.

He's on a very good thing right now and just needs to sustain it.

It's quite obvious he looks happier in the team and he definitely is more liberated playing freely from midfield. Anderson's learned his defensive duties and it seems like Fergie has unleashed him to make the most of his talent. I suppose with consistent effort he will get the rewards he desires. I hope he keeps plugging away up front and more goals will surely come for him.

If he continues to play at this level and Nani performs, Fergie will have done a fantastic job in turning their careers around. Anderson seems to be working hard in training and has done fantastically since he came back into the team. It's almost impossible to get the ball off him at time. He still lacks the overall fitness he needs though, but that should come.

That 30 yard burst after outstrengthening Wilshire on the age of our box was after the 60 minute mark so he lasted much longer than sixty minutes. In fact for me most of Anderson's best work was done in the second half today.
Not much longer than the 60th minute. It was only a few minutes after that run that I noticed he seemed quite tired and regularly a step or two slower to react than he should've been. A couple of the semi-dangerous attacks Arsenal had after that came largely because Ando got caught a little out of position. Still had the occasional eye-catching bursting run, but definitely was playing near empty. I know it was around the 65-70 minute mark where I started hoping SAF would replace him with either Giggs or Berba.

No problem with that for now seeing as he's only recently back from injury and this is the first good run in the side he's had for ages, but it is something he'll hopefully improve over the next couple of months.

Been very impressed with his work rate, drive and willingness to get involved in the play. He's finally beginning to look like the player we had hoped he'd become.

He doesn't look fat anymore either and that's a testament to his own desire to prove himself and the work done on the training field and gym.

Keep it up Ando!

I have noticed in the past two to three games, he has been running out of gas around the 70 to 75th minute. Even though that is already a lot, if he could close out games, he could really help us with the counter attack late on. He needs to find a way to store some energy in reserve to be used late in the game.

He is in a position where he does both attacking and defending, certainly trying to find a way to reserve his stamina wouldn't be the greatest idea's imo. Its about improving his stamina to last a full 90 mins which I'm sure the fitness coach is working on.

Anyhow, using up all his stamina in 70-75's minutes is already impressive, and don't forget we have Giggs and Scholes as backup, not to mention Gibson, Obertan can play in that position.

i forgot how strong he is on the ball and how well he holds it, great having him back!

They can't efficiently play there. At least Gibson would be a little better than Obertan when it comes to the defensive part of that role

his new confidence was shown last night at what has now been named "the worlds worst free kick.........ever!!"

just before the "the worlds worst free kick.........ever!!" Anderson had the ball and Nani sauntered over (fully expecting to be given the ball) and Anderson just shook his head as if to say "this ones mine" and for me that shows the boys new confidence,he wants to be part of everything now and its a joy to see (unlike "the worlds worst free kick.........ever!!")

Another fantastic performance from him, apart from his fitness which will come after a few more games but did anyone notice his touch was a bit off against the Arse. I guess the same can be said of Fletch too.

He was better against Blackburn and West Ham but still played well, keeping it simple. He left Rooney a bit isolated 2nd half though.

Agreed. I didn't understand the criticism he got after that game at all.

I thought his passing was a bit off last night (having passed the ball superbly in his last few games) but otherwise he played very well.

Where the hell have these last 2 performances come from?

Wierdly, it was against Arsenal last season which Nani used as a platform to step up, can Anderson do the same?

Nani began his renaissance vs Hull ;)

Criticism after the West Ham game? I thought it was pretty obvious that he was rightly being criticised for some laughably poor defensive work in that game. Having said that he was probably our best player on the ball that night.

As for last night's performance, I thought he did pretty well but certainly nowhere near the ''great'' performance that others have claimed it was.

If he could have taken his chance last night he'd be flying.

As it is another good showing from him, building confidence with a run in the team.

another good performance and finally we're seeing signs of consistency (halleujah!) coming into his game - he's also looked a goal threat!

has always had masses of potential and its so promising to see him performing like this, he could be a real world star imo

he does still need to lose a couple of pounds by the looks of it, but a regular spot as he's had of late may be just the motivation he needs to finally kick on

come on Ando

No, he needs to find a way to last 90 minutes playing at the same level as he does for the first 60-65. 95% of Premier League players manage it so there's no reason why he shouldn't.

No, he just needs to last 90 minutes. That's all.

Until he gets fully match fit, it makes sense for him to look to conserve his energy a bit better in the earlier parts of the game. Once he's got a few more games under his belt he can start to really go hard for the whole 90.

He's more often gotten himself into scoring position these last few games, which is brilliant. Only a great save away from grabbing one yesterday as well. Long may it continue.

He's not fat! Jesus.

We're a professional football club with Physio, Doctors and Sports Scientists and you think they'd let Anderson play if he was fat?

He worked his socks off yesterday, he really did. He was up and down throughout the game winning tackles and bursting forward. Yes he tired, but he never stopped trying and I think thats fantastic to see along with his new found confidence.

Keep it up Ando! :)

Amazed to see how many that loved Anderson performance, he wasn't all that imo. Poor passing and lack of composure, given the space he had, he should've done more with it. Although I can't deny he's been incredibly good the previous three games or so, one of my favourite players.

Im confused what some people were watching. He was good last night, but not outstanding as some claim. He seemed to tire very quickly, from the 70th minute onwards he basically didnt do anything, dead on his feet. Would love to know what United are doing to try and address that stamina problem

Encouraging signs, especially his eye for a pass but lets not go overboard yet

Chalkboard at the Grauniad confirms what I thought about his passing.

Completed 21 of 32 passes. Which compares poorly with his team-mates, Fletcher (34 of 47) and Carrick (37 of 52)

He deserves credit for his defensive work though, winning 6 out of 8 tackles (Fletcher = 3/4; Carrick = 3/5 tackles plus 2 interceptions)

Fitting him with a tag that shocks him every time he steps within 5 feet of Greggs I hope.

Overboard? He's been superb. Great strength, ability in tight spaces, drive and grit. Even last night he was our best of the midfield trio. If anything, he's getting the credit he deserves.

He was playing further forward and playing higher risk passes in a game that was largely a midfield scrap. Only to be expected. He played better than them.

I'd still like to see him run more with the ball. Sometimes he releases the pass a little too early. He can be a real bully in midfield, great to have a midfielder with that type of strength.

I missed the first half and came just in time to watch the second, saw Anderson have a couple of glimpses of nice play but he looked out of it by the 70th minute. Came in here and saw loads of praise for a brilliant performance so was obviously looking forward to the first half, only caught the highlights but he wasn't involved significantly in any attack? I'm not saying he didn't play well, he could've been great, but for him to have had maybe two passes of note in the whole game that were even vaguely threatening when he's the player closest to Rooney...something's not quite right there. He was always looking to involve Rooney whenever possible so that's his main job done, but I dunno, I'm surprised he's gotten so much praise.

What did he do well?

Play football.

He made 4 passes (2 successful, 2 unsuccessful, all under 5 yards) from the 60th minute onwards. 1 pass every 6 minutes isn't good enough and does suggest he tired.
