Aston Villa v Manchester United

Rooney MOM indeed, not bad for a cameo.

Game won by United in second gear.

I think this is what SAF wanted against West Ham.

Rooney Rooney Rooney aaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Do you, do you, do you, do you aaaaaaaahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Know what you're doing, doing, to me ahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Rooney Rooney Rooney Rooneeeeeeeeeeey ahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

What player that is.

Saha really has to find back his old self because he's going to get kicked out in the summer if he keeps playing like that.

.....cant wait for the lad to play against Newcastle....what a player he is...

Ronaldo may be the Gem in the crown...but Rooney is what holds the Crown together....

Nicely put :)

Villa set about stopping United and did it well in the 1st half
United were better in the second half
When Saf changed things around with about 20 minutes to go
It changed completely
The last 15 minutes were good to watch, not our best but good
Suddenly we looked like we would score when we attacked

Happy with 2 - 0
Not a game to live too long in my memory

Well... that's why Rooney is the most important player in our squad.

Missed the game but seems like Rooney made the difference. That's the best thing about this. Let's hope it's the start of a successful injury-free 2008 for Rooney, as United won't win anything without him. Saha being the only backup for Tevez and Rooney is a real problem.

Amazed we played such a strong team. Surely Ronaldo needs to be rested soon. I guess Fergie thinks we needed to win this to get our momentum going again and did not risk a weakened lineup. Good thinnking by Sir.

Crap first half. Ronaldo is being doubled marked and Saha and Giggs are clueless up front. We need to bring Wazza on and get Nani on for Park.

Can see this being difficult, but if we nick one straight after half time we'll win 3 or 4 nil.

C'mon you reds.

From what I saw - and this is an objective opinion, if not one which may not go down too well amongst certain members here - Ronaldo is a far better player when he has Rooney alongside him. Granted I don't watch United quite as much as most on here, but whenever he is on his own he kind of carries the team for parts of the game - if he has Rooney to play off he becomes a lot more free and effective. First half today and certainly against us he was trying but not really getting anywhere - Rooney's introduction suddenly galvanised him.

All my opinion obviously, and I'm certainly not slating him - just something I've noticed.

Any thoughts?

Alright, Gary I'll drop Wesley (who's an ingrate who didn't sign his contract there and then like your good self) as soon as you're fit. But your sucking up doesn't fool me, it was an odd thing to do. Maybe I'm losing the plot or maybe those Arse people are just obsessed about the PL.

Your crazy go and kill yourself!

Thanks...

But can you explain why Ronaldo looked out of sorts in the first half, then suddenly awesome once Rooney came on?

Rooney's much more of a threat than Saha, means the opposition have to devote more resources to marking him, instead of concentrating fully on Ronaldo.

That's an obvious observation.

Rooney and Ronaldo can at times make the magical difference on their own...but I would agree that together United do seem unstoppable...

Throw Tevez into the mix...and you can see we have finally found our answer to Best,Law and Charlton....

I went up tot he game, great atmosphere, bit sloppy up until Ronney came on.

Quietest fans in the world my arse.
