Aston Villa vs Manchester United

And both of those losses were against very poor teams, I'm not sure why people are so worried about this match.

I actually think we might get beat. But i refuse to predict this so...

1-2 Utd.

Hard fought win, Tevez and Berbatov netting.

anything less than a win would be really bad for our title hopes, we simply got to win.

Critical for our title-hopes to win this match. As Colly said, we are stronger than them in midfield. The key to this match though will be to cope with their pacy forwards Young and Agbonlahor (no Neville please) and defend well on set pieces as Carew is very strong in the air. I'm confident we'll nick the three points, but I reckon it will be a tight one. I'm going for 2-1 United (Please score again Rooney)

VDS
Sheasy if no Brown
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Ronaldo (fingers xd)
Fletch
Carrick
Park

Roon (should be ready)
Tev or Berb

Aye, i'd play Rafael if possible in this one.

Can keep up with their pace upfront.

rafael to combat young
i would like to see hargo taking on barry but i think anderson can do good enough job as Barry can't be given enough time to work on the ball.
I expect Berbs to give their defence problems but our CBs whoever they are need to be on point to deal with Agbonlahor

I'd play O'Shea, Rafael's not a good defender and O'Shea is a fair bit better in that way.

We'll need him to defend from set pieces as well you'd think.

I think whoever plays at right back will need Park in front of them in this game.

Would probably go with O'Shea this time myself, if there is no Brown.

Rafel will do alright. It would be a great experience for him if he starts. We will have enough players that can defend set pieces.

We usually do well at Villa park. I think we'll hammer them 4-1.

You know how before the Liverpool match everyone was saying how they were due a victory over us? Well Villa certainly do, we've beaten them 15 times on the spin in all competitions. Fifteen!

They could well beat us this weekend. Or we could win again. Having said that, it could be draw.

Van Der Sar
O'Shea Rio Vida Evra
Park Carrick Fletcher Ronaldo
Rooney Tevez

2-0 Win

:)

Good team, although I'm not sure about Young and Agbonlahor taking turns to roast Honest John on that left hand side :nervous:

I don't I think United will come out strong for this one, could see them putting out a great performance

No Berbatov for saturday.

Rooney and Rio may make the game but need to be at their best to perform.

3 games away for us start at Villa Park and we are chasing the leaders so lets hope we have a good game.

Portsmouth away,Everton away,Chelsea away,Liverpool away,L'Arse away,Villa away, Shity away ALL before December. Talk about a tough run of fixtures to begin the year. We NEED to pick up nothing less than 3 points here. A win will boost our away confidence after some tough losses. A win against Villa and Shity (and hopefully some dropped points from Pool and Chelsea) will put us in a good position going into the holidays.

berbatov is doubtful, might see the combo of tevez and rooney again. Hope ronnie will be ok to play.

Berba set to miss Villa trip

United striker suffers thigh injury on international duty

Dimitar Berbatov looks set to sit out Manchester United's clash with Aston Villa on Saturday.

The striker picked up a thigh injury on international duty for Bulgaria in Wednesday's 6-1 defeat by Serbia.

Berbatov was substituted after just half-an-hour due to the injury and was immediately rated doubtful for the weekend trip to Villa Park.

But, according to the player's agent Emil Danchev, the champions will now be forced to take on Villa without Berbatov.

Danchev told Bulgarian Darik radio: "According to Manchester United's medical staff, Berbatov will be recovering between seven and 10 days."

Such a timescale would also rule Berbatov out of next week's UEFA Champions League trip to Villarreal and leave him racing to be fit for the Manchester derby on 30th November.

With Wayne Rooney having been laid low by illness, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could be short of attacking options for Saturday's game against Villa.

Out of interest, when was the last time Rooney and Tevez started a game in a two-man strike partnership?

The Champions League final, as far as I know.

Out of interest, when was the last time Rooney and Tevez started a game in a two-man strike partnership?

All the games before Berbs arrived. The games between august and 1 Sept when Berbs was signed.

Last time i guess was against Zenit in the European Super Cup.

Hopefully...
----------------VDS-------------
-Rafael--Rio/Evans---Vidic--Evra-
-Ronaldo--Fletcher--Carrick--Park
---------Rooney---Tevez--------

But I can see us playing one up front for some reason, and bringing on Rooney when its too late (70th min)...

Always the optimist hey.

This.

Good old fashioned 07-08 Holy Trinity thrashing.

Remember the last time Brad Friedel played against us, for Blackburn, he had the game of his life. Let's just hope he doesn't dabble in the old game-raising for this one.

I don't think Berbatov missing will be too much of a problem for us really. I'm expecting Giggs and Carrick to start in the centre of midfield (provided Fletcher doesn't play). Both have great vision, have experience, can get forward, don't ignore their defensive duties, and can pass the ball exceptionally well. This should be enough to feed the likes of Rooney, Tévez, Ronaldo, and Nani / Park. Brown should start in defence if fit, as should Ferdinand.

------------------ Van der Sar --------------
Brown* ----- Ferdinand* --- Vidic ------ Evra
-------- Carrick ------------- Giggs ---------
Ronaldo ------------------------------- Park
------------- Tévez ----- Rooney ----------

* Rafael if Brown can't play
* Evans if Ferdinand can't play

van der Sar
Neville - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Park - Fletcher - Carrick - Ronaldo
Rooney - Tevez

Remember Young's at Left wing, need a defender who can defend. Rafael has pace, but I'd start with Neville.
