Barclays Premier League

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Jones
CB: Evans
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: Hernandez

Subs: Amos, Rafael, Smalling, Cleverley, Giggs, Welbeck, Berbatov

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Valencia Carrick Scholes Nani
Rooney Hernandez

2-0 United win, Rooney and Valencia scoring. Hopefully Nani is back for this, not sure if he will start or not but I think he should if he is fit.

De Gea
Rafael---Evans---Ferdinand---Evra
Carrick
Cleverley---Scholes
Valencia---Rooney---Young

Bench: Amos, Smalling, Jones, Giggs, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito

Tough fixture against a team that will be really up for it and in our faces, so I'd like to go with an extra man in midfield to compete better with them at the expense of a second striker (not that either Welbeck or Chicharito exactly played their way into the starting line-up for this one against Fulham, and Berba clearly isn't an option). Hopefully with the extra central midfielder and Scholes starting we should be able to cut out at least some of the slack passing we saw against Fulham.

If Nani can't make the bench then there's another chance for Pogba to get a place there, though I can't see this being comfortable enough to bring him on. I'd like to keep that team until the last 25 minutes or so before thinking about opening-up with another attacker if needed when they hopefully have started to tire.

Nervous, if we get an early goal I think we'll smash them but the longer they hold out the harder it will be.

Pretty nervous for this one, always am when we play at Ewood Park.

Hopefully what happened against them at OT will give the players some extra motivation going into this one. They obviously won't want that to happen again.

The fact that we won't have to play Carrick in defense should also help.

If we win this game we are 80% likely to win the title, IMO. 3 points clear, city going to Arsenal the following week while we are at home to QPR. It could be a huge week.

That said it will be a tough game, we have found it hard to play them at Ewood recently and I expect a draw.

We've won only 2 of our last 12 league games at Ewood Park.

It will be very tough!!!!

I think 11, 3, 1 away from home says a lot about our ability and rhythm away from home. Getting in the face of and running riot hasn't really been our problem away from home.

I think this will be too strong for Blackburn despite all the circumstances.

I think Fergie knows we will have to hit the ground and pound on our remaining away games and even against City. I don't have any lacking confidence in getting goals at least away from home.

At home I feel we're a bit frozen with wanting to play well, dominate and score a bucket load which leads to a bit of an immovable object unstoppable force kind of situation.

Yep 11 games

1998-1999: 0-0
2001-2002: 2-2
2002-2003: 1-0
2003-2004: 1-0
2004-2005: 1-1
2005-2006: 4-3
2006-2007: 0-1
2007-2008: 1-1
2008-2009: 0-2
2009-2010: 0-0
2010-2011: 1-1

Almost! But an uncanny set of results none the less!

I was more talking about our League Away form. Seems when Fergie releases the shackles we are much more rampant.

Yakubu to turn into a Llorente - Drogba hybrid for one night.

De Gea

Rafael--Rio--Evans--Evra

Carrick--Scholes

Rooney

Valencia--Welbeck--Young

This side should do it, and in my opinion should be starting every game from now on, till least Nani is back in place of Young

Why is Rooney playing there??

Ashely Young has been one of our best players last few games. No way should Nani be stepping straight back in for me.

It's basically 4-4-2 but i like how the players were set up in the City FA Cup game. Rooney with an extra body in midfield and running things from there with the wingers bombing ahead of him. I really like that, i think we did the same thing at Arsenal and Chelsea and have got very good results. Point taken about Young and Nani though

Hmmm...I take your point. Bit of a risk mind. He's certainly not passing the ball as well as he was earlier in the season. Could work. I'd almost be tempted to go 4-5-1 and dominate the midfield. It's a tough one this. They seem to do well against us in general.

I like Ashley Young...i don't think he's ever going to be a world beater...but he seems to be comfortable on the ball, puts in a wicked cross and can certainly finish. Good buy he is for me.

I have alot of time for Nani...but think he needs to earn his place again.

What? :wenger:

He's been injured, he should step straight back into the side, once fit, in the same way as Valencia did.

This will be the 7th time that I see United away from Old Trafford and we've not had a 90 minute win in any of the previous 6 :nervous:

Valencia stepped back into the team as there was nobody in his way. Now we have Valencia who has arguably been MotM in his 2 games since injury and Young who is in a great run of form. Nani wasn't buzzing before his injury so should earn his place back even though he is arguably our best winger.

fecking Monday night kick off. Means I have to get up at about 4 in the morning if I wanna watch it.

We don't even have another Saturday game left this season, well annoying.

I'll never again doubt the dedication of our Far Eastern fan base, watching the games here can be an absolute ball ache with the time difference...

I think Nani is the sort of lad that needs to get games under his belt to be firing. I don't know if there is enough games to do this to have him firing.

Young is in form and at 70% at the moment and could really fire I'd not risk this as we only have the league to play for and give Nani some sub appearances and the odd start rather than rushing him back.

I think we might start this game with a three man midfield. putting Cleverley in with Scholes and Carrick, leaving Welbeck and Hernandez as strong bench options.

Sky have it

Thanks, I was hoping that would be the case.

Young has been quality...our best player in recent games. So he should just lose his place?

Nani's form was erratic at best before his injury.

have a word.

Exactly. Spot on.

Definite banana skin. But judging by what I've thought of previous games, it'll be almost the opposite. We nearly fecked up the Fulham game, so we'll run out comfortable winners in the end here. 1-3.

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Rooney Young
Hernández

Amos; Smalling, Jones; Cleverley, Giggs, Nani; Welbeck

Currently our best and most in-form starting 11, bar possibly Hernández. But him and Welbeck have been indifferent lately, for me anyway. Both chipped in with goals but have both had all-round bad play at times as well. So, I'd just do the reverse of the Fulham game and start with Hernández, bring on Welbeck. However, I could also see Berbatov on the bench again. He might still have something to prove and if Hernández or Welbeck don't cement the starting slot he could sneak in and bag a few goals.

Carrick + Scholes is the way for us to go in nearly every game left from the start I reckon, whether we play a 442 or 433. Valencia should start every game on the right, while I'm sure Nani will push Young for the first team spot again in the remaining games. But Young should be starting right now.

Ferdinand and Evans is consistent, I heard somewhere that we've only lost one Premier League game this season with that pairing - and that was to City at Old Trafford when he got sent off anyway. Evra obviously needs to play and despite a somewhat average game from Rafael against Fulham (good moments, dire moments) he should still start again.

Would like to see us get a lead so we can bring on Nani, Cleverley, and Jones/Smalling. All players who I'd class as still coming back from injury.

Also, I could see us going 433 here with Cleverley to start over Hernández.. But I'm not sure.

You were going so well til that point. Agreed with every word. What were these dire moments? Fergie picked him out after the game as being excellent.

I was watching the game with a friend on Monday, he got into great positions, there's no denying that. But his final ball was almost always poor. He made a good few tackles as well, but he also gave the ball away almost as much as Evra and Welbeck did towards the end. If he had a little more composure and end product in that game he'd almost have rivalled Valencia for MotM. He just seems to go from one extreme to the other, in my eyes anyway. I think we can put it all down to nerves and age, but he wasn't the only one. He's just one player whose first-term place isn't guaranteed and things like that could cost him starting a match (it's possible that his mistake against Bilbao was the reason he didn't start the next game despite being decent).
