HT 0-1 United

Boro have put up a spirited fightback, but our defence has managed to keep them out. The game ebbed and flowed, with us being fairly content with being a goal up and not risking too much to get another, while containing the threat boro present. Boro have been quite direct, both in long balls and running at our defence, a handful, and I'd feel a lot better if we got another goal. Timm has been marked out of the game, and seems to have been injured in the process, but Jones, Richardson and Johnson have been good for us in attack.

Sounds like the first-team. Even if you stop one there's always atleast three more attacking threats in support.

This game ain't over yet, Boro are unlucky to still be a goal down, but some good keeping and defending kept them out. I think McClair will be telling them to get another goal and to keep their concentration and passing at a high level.

Boro have spent most of the half time out on the pitch warming up, bit bizarre.

Second half about to get underway.

He looks like one, but we got him from Crewe - dunno if he is or not. :o

Timm has come out for the second half, no substitutions. And he's come out in style. He picks the ball up from defence, runs through the midfield, through ball to Johnson, his shot comes back to Timm who blasts it over the bar.

No he's English.

I'm sure we had a Yank called Johnson at one point?

Richardson taken down with a late hard tackle, no booking though. Eagles to take the free kick from a good spot, and he sure can take them normally, this one was a crafty one that hit the wall though. He normally takes the corners too but he hasn't this game, but he just received the ball from a corner outside the area and hit a shot through the crowd of players but too near the keeper.

I thought the keeper Steele had a very tidy first half. caught everything, very commanding. You can tell he's played league footie before.
very impressive.

whoever asked about Bardsley, he's the son of ex-QPR fullback David Bardsley i believe.

Timm just did a couple of good flicks with the outside of his boot but then got brought down hard and limped a bit afterwards again.

I remember him! Didn't know that, thanks.

Steele, england international, his price will rise to 2.5m based on first team appearances!

What Eagles like?
One of the sunday papers a couple of months ago said he like David Beckham and fergie is trying to keep him under wraps

Bit more ebb and flow than that, we've had our spells of pressure too.

If only our first teamers, becks, giggs and keano could last another 2 years at the top level, we'd have replacements for them from this team.

He is like Beckham in that he takes free kicks and corners, and isn't a pacy dribbler but a good passer and crosser.

Timm has hobbled off now. :( Before he was subbed too. Feckin' knew it.

But Blake is the guy coming on and he's just as dangerous!

Is Timm a bit of a sicknote?, Anderton style?

Giggs style, dodgy hamstrings. Seems to affect the pacy players more than others.

Boro break 2 on 3, Brunt forced wide by Simms and his shot goes across the face of goal. Probably their best player so far.

Boro shoot wide as i say, have we got alot of our fans up their tonight?

i can only hear the home fans

I don't think we have, I just hope we get a proper crowd at OT for the final.

Hmm didn't know that, the commentator just said that the U17's and U19's will be changed to U16's and U18's in a couple of years.

They've given us a real tough game, much more so than Charlton, worthy finalists.

Fortunately our defence has been very good and committed. We just need to be a bit more careful about our passing now and press them as well as we did in the first half.

Commentator's being a twat cos he misheard Gary Neville the other night talking about Timm, he thinks he was talking about Collett.

Richardson charges down the middle of the park, but instead of playing it wide he takes a terrible shot from outside the area. Bit greedy.

Johnson has a shot from outside the area. Boro looking dangerous on the break, but good defending again keeps them out. We're not risking too much to get the 2nd goal, and we'd certainly be delighted to win this away leg 1-0.

Gary Neville was commentating on the second leg of the semi, and said how the first teamers were impressed with Timm and how he asked questions a lot of them. Commentator thought they were talking about Collett, who doesn't even train with the first team.
