Bundesliga 13/14

Oh god, what the hell are you doing to me BVB :(
Sooo close....

Bayern seems hung over from the celebrations. Hoffenheim lucky to face Bayern right after they won but still, they've worked hard to get 3 at Allianz.

How many good players is there in Germany today??? Just look at these guys. You got to feel sick when you have all that quality and knowing you can only field 11 of them.

Would be actually not so bad, when our "coach" would match the quality of the squad :(

Stuttgart is fecked. If you're fighting against relegation and you don't win against Dortmund, you go down.

That draw might have come at just the right time. A "bad" result had been in the making for quite some time in the league.

A draw here means nothing for midweek probably. They didn't play to their own level tonight though (Bayern)

FT in Stuttgart: 2-3
Many conflicting feels in me right now. Furious about horrible first 25 minutes devoid of any motivation. Proud that they showed spirit when they were down and simply relieved that we won this big point game. Important win.

Well every time you don't lose against a mayor relegation candidate surely must be viewed as a big improvement for your team. ;)

The annoying thing is, Dortmund should have beaten Hamburg and then lost against Stuttgart, that would have been beautiful. But no, those idiots always help the clubs that deserve to go down .

When it is before a CL game, this is actually true.

One of the worst 2nd halfs I have seen of Bayern in the recent 4 years.

Thiago - Kneeinjury. Probably out for the rest of the season and the World Cup.

News is trickling in that Thiago has suffered knee ligament damage and will be out of action for about 4 weeks.

Yeah... that gives me a sleepless night every other day.

Jogi is that you? I swear to god if you play Özil as a starter during the WC I will punch a kitten for every minute he plays.
Götze is hardly better at the moment though :(. He's been really average since the winterbreak, fecking annoying.

The curse of former Dortmund players

a couple more of those and they might actually be able to keep their squad for two seasons in a row

It's Klopp effect, he makes players look better than they are. Quite the opposite of managers who could make Messi look like Trevor Sinclair.

Oh, Götze really looked great behind Müller on Tuesday and was having a great match.

In some matches he fits very good - in others he does not.

I acutally think Kroos start in front of Schweinsteiger and one of the Bender twins. He has proven that he has the capability to shine in the big games puts in a better defensive effort then Götze or Özil. Reus should start the left and Müller on the right. I think this setup offers the highest amount of players with the right mentality to win the big games.

Then we only need to take with us a good striker and get a back four working together that won't leak at least one goal per game.

You actually think that Löw will line up like that? Or you think Löw should start Kroos as the AM ? I could see Löw starting with Götze, Schweini and Kroos if all 3 are fit and in great form. Right now, I'm sure it's still Özil as AM and Kroos + Schweini in CM :(. If Löw starts Sven Bender - Lars is playing a really bad season, imo - next to Schweinsteiger, then I don't mind Özil as the AM.

With Klose and Gomez constantly injured, Götze will probably start as the striker. It all sounds way better on paper, then it is in reality.

Aww poor Balu, is one of your world class player not performing to his maximum and you have to use another one ;)?

I do agree, that Klopp´s system can make players look better than they actually are. Sahin, Barrios and Kagawa all support this and I acutally do believe that Lewandowski won´t be as great for Bayern than he is for Dortmund, because some of his strengths are not that focused on in Guardiola´s system.

Mario Götze is a different case, though. He did not really benefit from the system that much. He shined because of his enourmous talent and individual abilities, so he will come around at Bayern sooner or later.

That's how I think he should line up but I'm pretty sure he won't.

The problem I see with Schweinstiger and Kroos in central midfield is that they don't offer enough defensive shielding for our back four and god know we will need that, it's the same problem when Khedira is playing who usually runs forward a lot and is one of the major reasons our defense ends up suffering. A defensive specialist next to a more creative but still defensively able CM is imo a must have for the double pivot a 6 and 8 combination so to speak. The double 8 that Löw prefers imo leaves us to vulnerable at the back especially if you consider that Lahm and Schmelzer are as well instructed to go forward a lot and provide some width in attack.

Götze up front might be our only choice atm if don't want to take a gamble on playing Volland or Kruse but in the end even Götze up front will be a bit of a gamble.

The main reason why I don't want to see Özil in the team is his attitude to be honest he is mentally too weak for the big games. He already had this problem at Bremen and I thought playing in bigger leagues for bigger teams would make him toughen up and getting used to those kind of games but so far neither his time at Real nor Arsenal has convinced me that anything has improved in that regard.

There is no guarantee that Manni Bender will be fit enough to reach his top level in time for the World Cup.

We have actually lost quite a few CM options for this WC so far. Gündogan doesn't look like making a return in time neither does Kehdira and for Sven Bender it will be a close call as well. So yeah we will most likely end up with Schweinsteiger and Kroos as our double pivot more out of necessity then out of planing.

This Freiburg v Nürnberg game has been really entertaining so far. I hope Freiburg stays up, because they always have a great atmosphere when playing at home.

Johannes Geis seems to have a fantastic season for Mainz. Probably won't stay long there.

Yeah, but you can say that about almost any of our midfielders. I fully expect Schweinsteiger to get injured again as well. The whole season is a nightmare in terms of worldcup preparation.
