Hope Forlan breaks his leg :)

hope we don't play our players for a full game

dont think SAF ferguson would be that stupid, considering the current situation we find ourselves in, BTW isnt there internations during the week, which means most of are first team will not be playin.

It's really a glorified reserve outing - hope Sector gets a run out - kid looked good on US tour - don't think he's far away from getting the odd game for the first team.

yeah he did, well according to the man utd offical site, which also says ronaldo is playing against costa rica, which he isnt of course,

Ronaldo Lights Up Olympics

PORTUGAL'S OLYMPIC SCHEDULE:
• Iraq 4-2 Portugal Thursday 12 Aug
• Morocco 1-2 Portugal Sunday 15 Aug
• Costa Rica v Portugal Wednesday 18 Aug
• Quarter Final Saturday 21 Aug
• Semi Final Tuesday 24 Aug
• Olympic Final Saturday 28 Aug

Cristiano Ronaldo continues his Olympic duty on Wednesday having led Portugal to a 2-1 win over Morocco on Sunday.

Ronaldo ran the show and scored in the victory, which means Portugal will reach the quarter finals if they avoid defeat against Costa Rica on Wednesday.

United continue to monitor Ronaldo's progress very closely. Portugal's medical staff were requested to prove the 19-year-old's fitness, according to Portuguese officials.

"He had a scan, not for medical reasons nor for any specific symptoms but because United insisted on it," a Spokesman told BBC Sport last week. "He was considered fit to continue playing for the national team."

Argentina, for whom Gabriel Heinze has impressed so far in Athens, are already guaranteed a place in the Olympic quarter finals at the weekend after beating Tunisia 2-0 on Saturday. They play Australia in their final Group C match on Tuesday.

Ryan Giggs has not been included in Wales squad to face Latvia, while Mikael Silvestre does not make new French coach Raymond Domenech's squad to take on Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Quinton Fortune, meanwhile, ends a two-year exile from international football in Tunisia. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly wasn't keen on releasing Fortune for South Africa's friendly in Tunis on Wednesday.

But coach Stuart Baxter has used the fact that Wednesday is an offical date designated by Fifa for international friendlies to demand that Fortune play. Quinton plays for his country for the first time in two years following a dispute with former coach Ephraim Mashaba.

United have a less-than-usual influence in England's squad. Only Gary Neville and Alan Smith make Eriksson's side to face Ukraine at St James' Park.

Paul Scholes announced his international retirement this month, while Phil Neville is omitted. Former United midfielder Nicky Butt makes Eriksson's 24.

Darren Fletcher, 20, is the youngest outfield player selected by Berti Vogts for Scotland's friendly against Hungary at Hampden Park. While Irish trio Roy Keane, Liam Miller and John O'Shea are included for the Republic of Ireland against Bulgaria.

Lawrie Sanchez named his squad to face Switzerland on Monday morning, which included Reds keeper Roy Carroll.

Olympics
Portugal v Costa Rica: Ronaldo
Argentina v Australia: Heinze (Tuesday)

International friendlies
England v Ukraine: G Neville, Smith
Scotland v Hungary: Fletcher
Tunisia v South Africa: Fortune
Republic of Ireland v Bulgaria: Keane, Miller, O'Shea
Northern Ireland v Switzerland: Roy Carroll

United lead 2-0 at half time. Goals from Paul Scholes with a great finish after a pinpoint pass from Ryan Giggs. Then Phillip Neville was onside to finish easily past Brian Jensen in the Burnley goal! Impressive performance by us, the match has a good tempo despite it being a testimonial!

One other point from the first half, Tim Howard looked hesistent in goal and seemed shakey as suggested on this forum. He was subbed after 20 mins to be replaced by Luke Steele.

Howard - n/a not alot to do really, bit shakey mind

P.Neville - Classic icecool finish from poacher Nev junior, caught out of position a few times in the second half though. 6.

Spector - Calm on the ball, never panics. Is going to be a good player. 6.

Mickey - n/a did what he had to do

Thierney - Started well but never kept the tempo up in the first half. 6.

Eagles - Brilliant goal and dictated play even while in the middle of the park, sound passing and cracking finish. 8.

Bellion - Looked a bit hesitant still on the ball but some great moments running at them. 7.

Eric DjDj - solid in the middle, broke up play well. 7.

Kieran Richardson - Improved, no doubt, but still lacking that edge, which will ultimately mean he wont make it IMO, he has improved but he still lacks that little something, possibly his delivary, he is a bit erratic. Decent enough tonight though. 7.

Paul Scholes - What a gem. Superb passing and an excellent goal. Didnt put a foot wrong. 10.

Ryan Giggs - Great pass and got running at them, looked sharp. 9.

Subs:

Rossi - Looks a very tidy player, he is 16 and yet he is so mature on the ball, he looked calm, in contrast to someone like Bellion who looks a bit shakey, Rossi took his time even under pressure, nice 1-2 for the goal and movement was impressive, was desperate for one of the lads to give him the ball when he was getting in all these good positions. 8.

Blake - n/a

McShane - n/a

Steale - n/a

Heaton - I thought could have done better for the goal. n/a

Fox - n/a

Djordjic - Vastly imptoved, calm on the ball, strong, confident, can hit a football at some pace too!. 7.

Howard- n/a

David Jones - Knocked the ball around well, strong for a small fella. 7.

so rossi, would you say he will make it at man utd then, if you could compare him to any player who would it be, because i havent seen him play

VanNistelrater said:
Well ive only seen him play a bit but he reminded me a weeney bit of Reyes, obviously worlds apart, but he was very neat on the ball and his movement was very good, he drifted in off the left wing a few times and has a cracking left foot too.

That's it, get him on the bench and remove either of bellion/forlan!

why not just take the chance like Arsene has done with Fabergas and stick him in a game and see how well he does or at least the subs bench

surely anyone is better than bellion/forlan/fletcher

In the middle of the park, Fletch is a brilliant player. You know very little about the game if you've watched him play and are writing him off. To mention him in the same breath as Forlan isnt even worth replying too.

come on vannistlerater would you compare these plaese.

Eagles impressed me, very good goal irrespective of the opposition, he showed great skill and it was a fantastic finish after a nice 1-2 with Rossi, who looked very composed on the ball. I only managed to watch the 2nd half, but it was a great game to watch, Djordic looked quite good, got a bloody good shot on him. Bellion failed to impress me. Richardson was 50/50, didn't look good at taking men on. David Jones looks a very good player, very good on the ball and has great vision. Spector is a star of the future. 2nd half MOTM I'd go for Eagles, who looked the part.

I've not seen either play. If you are desperate for comparisons, though, Martin was heralded by his former Wimbledon coach as a mixture of Keane, Scholes and Beckham, he impressed in his first season too, but ive not seen anything much of him.

Likewise, not seen Pique play either, but I know he was regarded as Barcalonas best young player, they were fuming to lose him, I think he captains Spanish U19 team, too.
