Champions League Semi Finals (30th April - 8th May)

It might be weird considering we lost 3-0, but I actually think we played well for the most part and the score line flatters Barca. If only Mane or Milner or Salah had finished a little better.

Some mountain to climb next week.

I think you did play well to be fair. But really did lack a cutting edge and for the most part domination which led to nothing. Outside of the Milner chance and Salah chance it was domination in midfield.

A beautiful game to watch. What a fine atmosphere it must be to play at.

After spending the match wanking on about how great Liverpool are, some are a bit embarrassed to admit that they've been battered and could very easily have lost by even more

I thought Liverpool were doing all right until the second goal. But yep, Barca should have sewn it up at the end but for Dembele's hopeless finishing. If Messi had been on the end of those two chances, we'd be looking at 5-0 instead of 3-0.

The last 15 minutes gave us an idea of how it's going to be at Anfield and Barca are so dangerous on the counter that Liverpool have to take care how they go forward. They just can't throw the kitchen sink at Barca.

This tie is over. Barca are good defensively, doubt they will concede 4 at Anfield let alone 5.

Barca beat Chelsea 3-0 at home last season, us 3-0 this season and Liverpool 3-0 and in all three of those games they looked vulnerable at times, didn't play great but won by a convincing margin.

Messi scoring twice in each too.

Liverpool fans trying to say they were the better team

They missed a couple they could have scored but so did Barca.

Interesting game, liverpool were defo in it til the second goal.Hopefully Barcelona wont rue those missed chances especially that one at the end, what a miss
What was the story with Firmino and his dirty sock(70 mins) while he was warming up,liverpool would want to have a word with the kit man.

Legislate? Of all the available words, you went with legislate
One of us is missing something; not entirely sure who! Frankly, apart from Jose's sacking, this is the happiest I've been all season, so I'll tip my hat and be on my way.

You really think so? the cyclists hardly ever get caught and that’s a sport KNOWN to be rife with it.

Pretty much every sport that involves cardio has doping. Running,swimming,fighting... I’d be shocked if football wasn’t.

Barca under pep were freaks, it’s pretty much an open secret they blood doped.

If so and everyone is in on it, then that’s another department United are failing in. Can’t even dope properly.

Our boys would be ok their knees after 30 minutes of that kind of running.

Turned into a real thumping. Great stuff.

A bit annoying dembele was so horrifically wasteful but i think every one would have snapped up a 3 goal deficit and a clean sheet!!

It’s pretty much impossible to judge the quality of a defender vs Messi. Unless you’re talking about legends of the game like Maldini, I don’t think anyone wouldn’t be made to looo stupid at one point or another by him.

We were definitely not bad today. This game was like United's game against Spurs at OT. United were not bad in that game still lost 3-0. I think we gave good account of ourselves but then sometimes individual quality do show up and here we are talking about Messi. He was kept quiet for long period but two chances and he buried both. I wont consider final minute barca chances as we were chasing for away goal and taking more risks.
We'll rue Mane's first half and Salah's second half miss. We now have mountain to climb at Anfield. Dont think we can do that but then Anfield have seen crazier nights. Never say never again.

We played well and had our chances. We just didn't use them.
This was a good game and I truly believe the scoreline does not represent the game flow.

Messi got lucky once and shown his class once. That's all you need.

We're not going through.

Barca ran 110 km today which is exceptional for their standards. Liverpool only 112 km though which is average for theirs.

The curl on that free kick is a joke. It literally speeds up so quickly in mid air.

I'm so pissed off with Dembele. I know they won 3-0 but still.

One of us is missing something; not entirely sure who! Frankly, apart from Jose's sacking, this is the happiest I've been all season, so I'll tip my hat and be on my way.

It’s a perfectly good word  just don’t understand why that’s the word that came to your mind.

I think I’m just going loopy.

Is anyone going to mention that at the start of the second half, Messi put both Suarez and Vidal through on goal for great scoring chances? Let's face it, Messi should have had 1 or 2 assists even before he scored the second and third goals.

Messi so bloody good in this game. Liverpools attack was really poor though which was good and they didn't end the game well.

Can't see Liverpool turning this around really.

I’m sorry but how is anyone saying this is far from over!?

3-0 down to Barcelona and people think Liverpool can do it? I mean there’s always a chance. But it’s so so slim, it’s ridiculous.

If Barcelona score at Anfield, even a 4-1 win for Liverpool would see them go out on away goals. So realistically they’ll need at least 5 goals since Messi will likely score.

It’s done.

Now for Newcastle to kick them whilst they’re down on Saturday please. To get knocked out of the UCL semis and lose the league in a matter of 3 days would be utter bliss.
Barca aren’t the best team to defend the score.

Huge favourites but an early goal and Pool can be in it

We did it in 2005 with a much worse worse team in 45 minutes, but yeah, it’ll be a tricky one.

I know what you mean but realistically you'll need to go balls out and hope Barca don't score an away goal. I just can't see it to be honest. Good luck though.

I'm not disputing that Firmino is integral to their game. But I thought they were the better side up until the 2nd goal. Wijnaldum (sp.?) did well in the high press and Mane was a threat though Salah tried loads of things that didn't come off and he's back to his lower level now it seems.

I still think Barca were helped by their experience. And yes, obviously Messi's brilliance that came through in the end.

Agreed on Dembele. Looks terrible.
Wijnaldum was like Llorente yesterday, did his job and did it well, but he just lacks quality. Salah was and Mane were both great tonight, but between the two of them they had like 3 shots. 2 big chances, mind, but still. Most of liverpool's dangerous attacks were set up by Salah and Mane, but it was Milner or Wijnaldum at the end of those, and well, they're Milner and Wijnaldum

After the second goal they went under mentally, which often happens in those situations, and then Messi made it 3-0, Salah missed an open goal, and after that Liverpool had to throw the kitchen sink at them to try and get a goal, which left barcelona with acres of space on the counter

I don't think this was down to experience, just the talent differential on the pitch

No amount of coaching can compensate for the genius of messi. This was Bayern munich 2015 match all over again. Once the game had got streched and barce was on the counter it was finished in 3/4 minutes. He's too good.

It does brush.
Nah. I don’t see it but if we argue it theoretically, a brush would mean the trajectory of the ball was already going top corner-ish without it meaning any single slight touch at that pace and that angle would take it out.
