I bet we're going to lose. Not motivated enough to beat them.

Go on Fergie...play Smith in the middle and/or give Jones a run out

We've nothing to lose, or gain...and it's not as if any of our centre midfielders is playing particularly well.
Agree, but will it happen? Whats been stopping fergie from playing some of our youth players like pique, spector, rossi or jones? I thought the title was lost quite a while ago, and we should have been using the past few matches to see if any of the youth players can cut it at this level. Hope it happens in this game.

I think the 'rest' game will not be this one.

I think he'll play a decent side against this lot, and then rest next week, in the run up to Chelsea.

Even if Chelsea will have already won the league, we can't have them doing a double on us, can we?

Thats some bet mate. FACT: Charlton have won one of there past 11 games.

Somehow i think that were in with a chance...

And Norwich hadn't kept a clean-sheet since what, october? We'll hammer Chel$ki 10 days later though ;) after a 0:0 draw with West Brom

thats why we have to play offensive, dont wanna see a typical-fergie-safety-first formation!

My bet is that it won't happen, unfortunately. We are holding on to the dream of getting second this year and even though these young players couldn't possibly do much worse than our first team is right now, Fergie most likely won't play them. IF he does play them, I can see them bringing some desire to the team, as they are playing for first team places.

We wont play this because fergie is too scared to put two up front...but oh well.

It's the mighty Charlton! It would be suicide to play two upfront!

I think the result is not so important as the way we play and score.

Well what can I say?

To put it plainly, our passing and ball distribution in the 1st half against newcastle was nothing short of horrible. Lazy targeting, slow movement, and hasty decision making made the whole 1st half was a tragedy.

To be outrun for soo long on a purely physical level goes against the rules of the ancients. To concede so much posession especially in our defensive end is a violation of the queiroz handbook.

I can understand that the players are exasperated as its the final weeks of the season., but last week was too much to bear because of what hangs in the balance, 2nd place. The Charlton match, goes without saying, will be crucial.

Charlton fear Ruud awakening

CHARLTON winger Dennis Rommedahl has warned his team-mates not to underestimate the threat of Ruud van Nistelrooy when Manchester United head to The Valley this weekend.

It has not been the best of campaigns for the normally-prolific Dutchman, who has struggled with both injury and form.

Van Nistelrooy, 28, has reached double figures for the season, but most of his goals have come in Europe and he has not scored in the Barclays Premiership since November last year.

However, he ended an eight-game barren run following his return from a Achilles injury with a double strike in the FA Cup semi-final win over Newcastle two weeks ago.

Rommedahl spent some seven years playing club football in Holland before his £2million switch to The Valley from PSV Eindhoven - van Nistelrooy's former club - last summer.

And he is in no doubts of the Dutchman's talents.

"Ruud hasn't scored many this year, but he is one of the best in the world," the Denmark winger declared.

"Ruud is always someone you have to look out for.

"Football is always going up and down - and I think it's been going up for Ruud since he left PSV.

"It's the first time in a while he is struggling, however he will get back on track - but hopefully not against us."

Rommedahl, 26, knows the Addicks will be in for a tough examination from the Red Devils on Sunday, as Sir Alex Ferguson's men seek to keep the pressure on Arsenal in the race for runners-up spot.

"If United play like a team they can be good because they have individuals who are top-level players," Rommedahl said in the Kentish Times.

"They can almost win every game - it doesn't matter who they play.

"It will be difficult. we have match them and give our all. We play good stuff and of course we have a chance.

"Everything is possible, but you need to play your stuff as well as battling hard."

I'm going...

anyone else?

And no, I don't have a spare before everyone starts asking...

feck, Ruud is out. :( Oh and still no Louis Saha. :wenger:

Striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss Manchester United’s trip to Charlton on Sunday after failing to recover from the ankle injury he suffered in training last week.

Paul Scholes returns for the Barclays Premiership match after a one-match suspension but Gary Neville is still out as he serves the second of a three-game ban following his dismissal at Everton.

Argentinian defender Gabriel Heinze is out with ankle ligament damage and faces a race against time to be fit for the FA Cup final against Arsenal on May 21.

Provisional Squad: Howard, Carroll, P Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Brown, O’Shea, Fortune, Ronaldo, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Miller, Kleberson, Fletcher, Rooney, Smith, Bellion, Spector, Eagles, Pique, Rossi.

Ruud is starting to get injured a lot. Damn whats the point of having 4 strikers if 2 spend more time at the hospital than scoring goals.
