Interesting to see what kind of side Fergie puts out after the flop by many squad players today..

I think we'll lose whatever side we put out. :(

I hope Rooney and Saha both play though, no Bellion please. :nervous:

Fergie said on MUTV tonight that Rooney may feature.

Many of them wont get another chanse considering 0-0 vs exeter :wenger:

--Rooney-Saha-Ronaldo-

A bit too strong for some people's palates?

I'm a big advocate of going all out for these two games. They will surely be playing their big guns, so why the hell not?

Let's ruffle a few feathers. They've had it far too easy for far too long.

i just hope he dont play richardson, bellion, eagles and co cos chelsea are taking this very seriously and after all its a semi final, with potential final against the scousers at cardiff!

i also reckon come the second leg at stamford bridge we'll see full strength utd!"

I think he'll play this:

Bellion

subs: Spector, Scholes, Howard, Rooney, Saha

Tim

Phil---Brown---Pique----Spector

Eagles---Jones---Djemba-Djemba---Miller----Richardson

David Bellion

Tim

Phil---Brown---Rio----Spector

Eagles--Fletcher--Keane--Jones--Ronaldo

Saha

Thats what I want, youth + experience

I dunno, i can't see Fergie trusting that midfield and attack in a hurry and particularly up against the likes of Chelsea, well not all of them anyway.

Something more like this is what i see him putting out >>

Although i think there's a chance he might stick with the same back five, and personally i'd have Fletch wide right and bring possibly Djemba Djemba into central midfield along with Jones and Keano.

Pack the midfield with the wingers as our primary outlet for attack and close em down as quick as possible. Have a strong bench like Saturday as well mind, just in case.

Some might call me crazy for this but i reckon we'll win 2-1 on the night; an early goal to us and we then keep them out till say the 50-60 minute mark, bring on some subs and bag ourselves a winner late on. Yeah, not too shabby if i don't say so myself. ;)

Nick,

Is Saha fit?

I can't see us having much chance winning this unless we play a pretty strong team as Chelsea's second string is almost as good as their first team, whereas our backup midfielders are all a bit shit.

Hehe...I know just wanted a reaction. :)

I dont think so.

Playing a full strength team would be embarrassing. We need to find a balance.

If we can contain Duff and Robben, surely Rio and Mickey can deal with gudjonsen or drog breath, why would it be embarassing?

Our best available right now can easily match theirs on any given day.

Without Lampard then who knows. They haven't got an attacking midfielder anywhere near his league. If we field a strong side, we'll have them on the back foot.

Don't forget the last match at stamford bridge with 60% posession.

I mean, against their reserves

Why do you lot think Chelsea are going to play a full-strength team?

Because they virtually have done in every carling cup game upto now. They even fielded a strong side against scunthorpe in the FA cup the other day!

Mourinho has also gone on record of saying they want to win it, so expect their strongest available side.

Plechazunga said:
Really? I thought they played reserves in the main

FA Cup's another matter

What reserves?

Carling cup quarter final

Fulham 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea: Cudicini, Johnson, Ricardo Carvalho, Terry, Bridge, Smertin, Makelele, Parker, Robben (Cole 62), Duff (Lampard 76), Drogba (Gudjohnsen 58).

Subs Not Used: Cech, Paulo Ferreira.

Plechazunga said:
Right you are. Just Johnson, Bridge, Smertin and Parker. You're right, we'll have to be more or less full-strength

What a fecking pain in the arse

They are taking this seriously. Look at the side for the previous round

Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea: Cudicini, Johnson, Terry, Gallas, Bridge, Paulo Ferreira, Tiago, Parker (Gudjohnsen 96), Duff (Robben 63), Kezman, Cole (Lampard 66).

Subs Not Used: Cech, Huth.

what????
embarassing?
think about it, what are you talking about? this is a semi final of a cup, we are talking about professional footballers who are paid between 20 and 90k per wk! they all had a rest on saturday why shouldnt they play wed?i dont wanna lose to the rent boys!

we should go into every game with our best team and try to win, saying its embarassing is pathetic!

it's embarassing cause it's just liverpool (and chelsea now apperantley) who goes for the mickey mouse cup. we are not in the situasion that the mickey mouse cup is the only trophy we have a shot at, like the dippers. why chelsea aim so "high" I cant understand, maybe mourinho just want's to secure a early trophy as chelsea manager but my opinion is that we should field a couple of youngsters and don't give a feck about that silly trophy.

Chelsea linup likely to be...

...............Cudicini............
Johnson Gallas Terry Bridge
..............Makalele...........
.......Tiago.......Lampard.....
Cole...........................Duff
.............Drogba................

Robben is suspended.
If Bridge is not fit (he has been out few a few games with flu) Ferreira should play left back).
Cech will not play.
Carvalho and Huth are both still injured so Smertin may play in defence at some point.
Jarosek may play some part from the bench but is nowhere near match fit as the Russian seeason finished a while ago.

On another note, would you lot (Manchester united fans) rather beat us (Chelsea) over two legs and get to a cup final or beat Liverpool on saturday morning?

--------------------W.Rooney----------------

C.Ronaldo
R. Carroll

A.Smith
D.Jones

Louis to outpace Terry and get some match fitness. Phil and Keano to sort out Lampard and Tiago. Wayne to attack Makelele and let other players flood foward. Scholesy and Fletch to provide attacking strength yet defend tight and compact. If we need width then get Wayne on the left and Fletch on the right and let Scholesy bomb forward.

If Ferreira does play left back, then I would put Ronaldo in instead of Jones to take him on.

I'd rather do both duffer ;)
