It vital we win if we want to stay top of the group, anything less we are going to struggle to even qualify for the 2nd round.

United will probably look the complete opposite against Lille than they did against Boro. I figure they'll win by a goal or two. And Benfica draw with Villareal, would then see United top of group by 3 points over Benfica (8 > 5).

Reds fans face extra security
MEN October 31st 2005

UNITED fans have been warned to expect extra security measures at Wednesday's Champions League tie with Lille at the Stade de France.

Five thousand Red Devils supporters are expected at the game and club officials are advising them to get to the stadium early as every fan is likely to be searched on their way in.

The moves have been instigated by the French officials following disturbances during United's group phase encounter in Lyon last season.

O'Shea: We owe fans a result

JOHN O'Shea has admitted Manchester United owe their fans a night to remember in the Stade de France.

The Red Devils head into their crucial Champions League qualifier with Lille reeling from the weekend hammering at Middlesbrough.

More than 5,000 United fans are expected in Paris as Sir Alex Ferguson's men look to consolidate their place at the top of Group D and gain a much-needed confidence lift ahead of Sunday's showdown with runaway Barclays Premiership leaders Chelsea.

Ferguson has already warned his team any repeat of the shambolic display at the Riverside will put their European place at risk and O'Shea declared the intent of his United team mates to right a few wrongs.

"We owe it to everybody involved in the club to get a win tomorrow, the fans, ourselves and the coaches," said the Ireland international.

"When you lose a game like we did on Saturday, you are going to get criticised, so you have to take it on the chin, get on with it and bounce back.

"We are fortunate to have a game tomorrow where we can put it right. Not only that, it is important we win tomorrow because it would put us in such a strong position in the group."

Dramatic

O'Shea followed his manager's lead by refusing to enter discussion over Roy Keane's controversial MUTV interview, which was dramatically withdrawn from the schedules last night.

It has been reported the 24-year-old Waterford-born defender was one of the men in the firing line for personal criticism by Keane and it is certainly true O'Shea was one of United's poorest performers against Middlesbrough, with chronic distribution a particular problem as well as a failure to put Aiyegbeni Yakubu under pressure in the build up to the home side's fourth goal.

One of the more considered members of the current United squad, O'Shea knows his display was not up to the standard required and he revealed the depth of his weekend misery.

"Every player has their own personal pride and we were hurt after Saturday's game," he said. "Since I got into the first team four seasons ago, there has always been so much criticism of certain players, the team and individuals.

"But you just have to take it because it is part of being at such a successful club. We are just thankful we have an immediate chance to rectify the situation."

Nice sentiments !.......NOW is the hour Sheasy !...........I would'nt mind seeing Miller get a run, his confidence should be better after last week. I have this sneaking feeling that if he could score in a really important game, it just might turn things for him !

3-1 Ruud, Ruud, Rooney, Rio own goal.

or

0-2 Rio own goal and someone else

I think this is going to be the team as well, the thing that frightens me is the quality on the bench or better said the lack of quality.

When is:
1. Giggs comming back?
2. Roy Keane comming back?
3. Gazza
4. Heinze

if anyone knows around about please post, all I know for sure is gazza will be back in like 2weeks.

Gazza and Keane is probably a couple of weeks. Giggs is about another month for his type of injury.

As for Heinze, we would have to count ourselves as lucky if he comes back before the end of the season. :(

Fergie should show Rio, Fletcher and some of the other useless cnuts the exit door.
I hope we play with this team:

van der sar
Bardsley - Brown - Pique - Silvestre
Park - R. Jones - Smith
Ronaldo - Ruud - Rooney

It's a wonder you're not a football manager.
