Cop in America doing a bad job, again

Excessive force that was so bad that they didn't even go through the "admin leave" shtick. Straight up fired all 5 officers. This is going to be a bad one.

The US is such a fecked up country (looking from the outside) that I can't help but think that admin leave pending investigation would have been likelier had it not been five black police officers. Am I the only one thinking this?

It’s shit like this that make it hard to back cops. Putting aside the horrific shooting, the fact the whole department got together to lie and try and cover this up is abominable. Imagine if he had no cameras! He would likely be in jail and the cops framed as hero’s.

Two different departments! I bet they didn't know about that camera though.

Wish I could see the panic on their faces after he posted it on Facebook.

I expect a swift climb down on his charges, and attempts to settle but who knows.

Body cam video has been described as ‘heinous’ by the police chief, downtown businesses are purchasing extra insurance, & this make it seem the video is going to be awful. It gets released tomorrow…

Nope. I had the same thought.

Not that I think either of you are wrong, but apparently the video footage is horrific. So bad that business in Memphis are getting ready for unrest when it is released tomorrow according to the news.

No, they almost seem like sacrificial lambs, a case police unions et al will be able to point to in the future & show how the process worked / can work, but no white cop(s) will be held to the same standard.

Hope I’m wrong though.

Very fecking odd. This is exactly what the people want, crook police officer's brought to justice. However, you literally never see them work this quickly with white police officers.

Perhaps this opinion will change when the footage is released.

Its good that the officers involved have already been sacked and arrested. Its what people want to see happen. Things quickly assessed, not covered up and charges laid if applicable. So I would hope that rioting or anything like that wouldn't kick off, as that is exactly what you want from an investigation.

Now I'm hoping it is as bad and clear cut as they have made out so far, because otherwise I can see plenty of people highlighting how justice works against black officers, but the exact same situation/event with white officer X, Y Z etc didn't. Which could result in its own protests etc, ironically against officers being held accountable.

Can we just fast forward to the time when the US has it's civil war. It's going to come at some point, a country so divided and with so much debt and huge issues can no longer be run the way it is without some kind of civil war. Sorry for going off topic but I think events such as this can be the catalyst for something huge and it wouldn't surprise me if things kicked off over there on a major scale.

Memphis video shows Tyre as a 'human piñata' to the cops per family lawyer. Three minutes long.

My fecking god.

I am really worried about our cities this weekend (especially tonight). Part of me feels like "the authorities" deserve whatever is coming but I don't want anyone to get hurt.

I don't live there, but I have the same fear based on what's been hinted at so far and agree with your second sentence completely.
