The more I play it the more I enjoy the story. Also, a Quickhack build with smart pistol and mantis blades is just plain good fun in combat. I think I'm going to increase my score to 7 out of

The last mission(s) are superb and one of the best experiences I've had in a game. It's such a shame they didn't delay the release as there's something very good underneath all this. I haven't had the crashes on PC, but the AI is so obviously placeholder.
I’ve only bought 1 car, only because of what happens at the start of act 2. Got a few free through side quests soon after!

What you want are mantis blades and double jump. And then approach missions like it's mirror's edge.

Not much. It has only crashed for me once prior to the patch but it’s still full of bugs and glitches. Loading times are still everywhere, if you sprint or drive too fast to a location then you have to stand still for 10 seconds for everything to load properly around you which ruins some stuff. Had a number of occasions where enemies have glitched behind walls or became invisible or I can’t pick up their gear after killing them. The police are still a mess too but that’s an issue for everyone I believe. They spawn out of the ground all around you instead of naturally appearing and they also don’t chase you. So you can either stay and get annihilated by spawning zombie police or you can escape them with ease and no fun at all.
I've still had no major issues.
The odd loading texture or minor frame.drop during driving, but I am now only three hours or so into the game and someone has suggested that the glitches get worse the further through the game.
Personally if it carries on as is for me then it's definitely playable.
I’m not touching this game again till the ps5 version comes out. Great game, killed by bugs.

Wonder how people would react if The Witcher was released now? People are very very cynical these days. Not that this game doesn’t deserve a lot of it.
I felt the cars were a massive waste of money anyway. Some of the best vehicles you get gifted in missions or just come across them in the wild - I just casually stumbled on a high end sports car in a tunnel in the badlands which was automatically added to my collection the second I got in it.

Lots of people called the Witcher out on release for it's broken gameplay that was never fixed. Even mods couldn't get there with the levelling system.
People aren't any more cynical these days, it's just easier than ever to vent. Plus it's a good thing calling out broken shite anyway.
It wouldn't face anywhere near as much scrutiny because the hype for the Witcher 3 wasn't in anyway comparable. Prior to that game they were still the small Polish studio who known for making two very good (albeit not very approachable) RPGs.
But it also wouldn't receive as much praise. The Witcher 3 was a groundbreaking game for its time and really changed the expected standards of open world games to the extent they made the likes of Bethesda seem subpar overnight. Nowadays the standard is set by a game like RDR2.
I finished it a few days ago after clearing up as many side quests and gigs as possible before completing the main mission. I'd say that despite playing it on the PS4 full of glitches crashes and some times terrible graphics, I overall enjoyed. Obviously it didn't live up the hype but I enjoyed it none the less. The game lacks any revolutionary features though. Ai is terrible and I don't feel there is much you can do beyond the main and side quests. Bascially overall it felt a like good hybrid of Deus Ex, GTA and Fallout but it doesn't essentially cover any new ground. I will probably replay it once I get PS5 some time next year. I'd give it 7/10 on PS4, but would probably have given it a 9/10 on a high end PC fully patched.
Not for open world games, I love RDR2 and it's one of my favorite game of all time but it has very outdated mission system that is on very strict rails that doesn't allow any sort of freedom, which is awful for an open world game. It is basically "linear open world game".
Standards for animations, production quality etc, sure, but with how much money and experience Rockstar has, one would expect no less on that front.
Both Rockstar and CDPR are similar in that they have set standards in world/story building in games. Both also have mediocre gameplay.
The latter have it tougher though, as they try way more mechanics that are much harder to balance. It's a shame they've never really pulled it off though, Cyberpunk going backwards due to all the known development issues is a big shame and disappointment.

Oh I completely agree, and I'm one of Rockstar's harshest critics regarding their mission design (I also happen to think RDR2 is a massively overrated game).
I'm talking about the general immersion and polish of the open world as well as the dynamic NPCs and events. I felt RDR2 set the bar with their implementation of it. Heck I'd argue that Shenmue set it as a far back as 1999 with their unique npc routines.
Personally I thought the highlights of RDR2 were the characters. Arthur for me is one of the best written videogame characters ever.
Not sure about that personally. I tend to think Rockstar have very well written characters in their games, but there was something about the support cast in RDR2 I found grating in particular. Funny enough I thought the characters in Cyberpunk 2077 were among the strong points of the games, especially the side quest characters.
It's always an interesting comparison. The Witcher 3 was a genre defining game and put prior Rockstar games like GTA well in it's shadow. So much so that there's always talk about it being among gaming's greatest ever.
Read Dead 2 in terms of the detail, polish, animation etc has without doubt further raised the bar. But I can't help but feel that as big an achievement as that was - including the writing of the lead characters who were some of the most complex we've seen in gaming - the game won't be remembered the way the Witcher 3 has been.
The differences for me are as follows:
- The sheer scope of the Witcher 3's world, monsters, quests, lore, storylines (including DLCs) is such incredible.
- The writing is the best I've seen in gaming. While not as realistic or grounded a setting as RDR2, the richness and snappiness of the writing when you consider the first point and especially given the number of genuinely interestingly side quests, was a remarkable achievement. I've finished it three times and it's just not possible to do that unless the side quests feel believable.
- Combat and mission design. Now, I know everyone says the Witcher 3's combat is weak and while there is truth to that - I can't compare it to Dark Souls, God of War or even Ghost of Tsushima. It's much.. lighter. But I do think it's pretty good, and better than it gets credit for. And for its time, I personally enjoyed the combat much more than other proper RPGS ( such as fallout, Skyrim or turn based games). Mission design is also strong. This is where RDR2 falls apart for me. As lovely as it is so many aspects the actual missions may as well not have me pressing a single button given how basic they are. At least in the Witcher 3 I feel a weight to the combat when I'm surrounded by 5 goons or when up against a monster that's painfully strong. RDR2 is just ride horse or aim plus shoot. It's not even comparable to Witcher 3 from 2015 let alone new games out now.
- The other area I feel RDR2 lacked a bit was the charm of the game. There's some magic in the world and characters in the very best games that for some reason lacked for me. I didn't care about the characters I met one bit. It was just all Arthur and Dutch for me. And the idea of playing a murderous but celebrated (by the game) bunch of thugs did feel slightly weird.
So yeah, those are the areas where I'd say Rockstar has to work for their next game. I know capturing there are things they can't - like the atmosphere/tone of the Witcher 3 which many people allude to as making it special. And to be honest they don't needed. With RDR2 they created something special on their own. But if they can maintain the quality of the animation, cinematics, dialogue etc and improve on some the above - especially gameplay - then that'll be a huge leap. Gameplay doesn't always have to be as good as Dark Souls or God of War for example. Especially when you do other things so well. But it should feel great at least.

Is this available on XBox One?
It's on Xbox One, but other people in here will say whether it's worth getting on it or not. I think it crashes a lot on it and has a load of bugs on the base consoles so it's probably worth waiting a few months until it's patched before buying.
Somebody here will be running it on Xbox One so can reply.
Playing on my X. Game has run well for me more or less - some minor glitches.

The DLC page is up and reckons that the free DLC will start "early 2021". Guess we'll see as I would have though priorities may be on fixing things first.

Just started playing the game on series x. Just got past the first act. I have to say this is by far the most beautiful game I've seen the animation on the characters is some crazy level of wizardry especially coming from assassins creed it's not even in the same universe. I've had a couple bugs but apart from that the story, characters and gameplay have all been excellent. Didn't really expect it to be this good considering all the negative press.
Yeah, it quickly became from overhyped and overrated before launch to pretty much underrated at this point with the hate train people like to ride on.
I definitely understand how bugs can ruin an experience and luckily I'm playing on the series x so the graphics are brilliant and the game runs very smoothly. So if someone is playing on OG ps4 and xbox it probably destroys that experience. But the game itself feels brilliant so far. Maybe it's because I came from playing assassins creed but this feels like it's a completely different generation to that.
It's not being on a "hate train" to have issues with a game that was released in this state, one they have openly stripped features from, one that is clearly unfinished and above all else one that they constantly lied about (and continue to do so).
But hey, I guess someone who flat out refused to play a game and joined the "hate train" on that well before it was even released (in an infinitely better state I might add) would know what is and isn't worth the ire.

DLC - fixes bugs and stabilises gameplay. Gonna be the new norm
pretending patches are DLC. Making people pay to fix a broken game soon enough.Didn't get a single crash today. The side missions and combat are really good now. The crap AI is obviously still there but I don't really notice it since I fast travel alot. Not excusing it because, you know, my god it's shocking. But it isn't making me go "omg worst game ever". Taken in isolation it's obviously going to be a massive issue but when you combine it with the full gameplay experience it isn't a major problem.

Ai is a non factor to me. I can't think of an open world game with good AI. From Playing the new assassins the AI in this is actually better.
Also I heard alot of talk of empty streets etc. Is that an issue on a specific console? On the series x streets are absolutely packed as in if there was anymore people it would be ridiculous.
