There were no group stages in 1938. It would however be the first time since 1938 that they participate and don't make it to the quarter finals (or a group stage with only 8 teams left).

I do believe it's a unique run. No other team has always been part of the final 8 teams since the end of World War II. Even Brazil has lost in the round of 16 before.

The German one has signed Hannes Wolf, current German coach of the year, on their roster of pundits and then they ask him (who never was a top level player) about how Khedira might deal with being dropped and then switch to Hitzlsperger, who as far as I know doesn't even have a coaching license, to discuss the tactical thoughts behind die Mannschaft's lineup.

Rudiger instead of Sule? Rudy for Khedira and Draxler for Ozil? I have no idea why Low rates Draxler and Rudiger so highly. Rudiger is a mistake waiting to happen while Draxler has hardly been amazing for Germany on a consistent basis.
