Day 15: Japan vs Poland, Senegal vs Colombia, England vs Belgium, Panama vs Tunisia

You can not not love VAR, it is such a progress and so smoothly executable that will minimise mistakes and eradicate theatricals.

Dangerous coming in with your foot that high - looked like it was his heel that nicked the ball. If he had been a couple centimeters higher that would have been a pen. Good game so far!

Great call. Did the referee originally award the penalty? I only just switched on.

Would have loved if it was called in but yeah nothing in it, good defending.

Good refereeing that. Awarded the penalty even if he wasn't sure and then realised it wasn't a peno. Would much rather have this than referees that don't award penalties because they rely so much on VAR.

Sanchez has been very solid. He looks a great purchase by Spurs. And his centre back partner for Colombia isn't bad either.

I give the new Premier League season exactly an hour before the demand for VAR intensifies.

Colombia need to pick it up a bit as Senegal definitely look like they have a goal in them.

Not a pen, defender gets the ball first before touching the player. Might as well ban all slide tackling if that's a foul.

He supports Real, he knows his days as uefadrid (and uefalona) are numbered  ... oh wait, no VAR in the CL next season yet
Which league will use var in the coming season?

Thanks. These are the best usage of VAR.

Easy mistake to make by the referee, could have been very costly for Columbia. Credit to the ref, you wonder if some referees would have too much pride in their first decision to change their minds.
Some will have to eat humble pie because with replays available they will open to big criticism

Senegal need to get that final ball right as theyve had some good opportunities.

Can just see Columbia scoring though lol

If a half strength Japan lose to a practically full strength Poland (plausible) and Colombia beat Senegal (again, plausible), then England Belgium won’t be so hell bent on finishing second

Indeed. Cnut Cakir comes to mind.

Colombia really need to settle the nerves. Probably the most difficult national team to play for given their history of "fan" backlash and threats against players. Really want to see them do well.

Japan are resting players? That seems slightly risky.

I don't understand what Japan are doing, resting players when they are far from secure
