Day 15: Japan vs Poland, Senegal vs Colombia, England vs Belgium, Panama vs Tunisia

Colombia technical's ability will be a huge problem for England they have the players to dominate the ball and their wingers are strong and fast

Huge that James comes back for them, there's no player in the English midfield or defence who would handle him

Tbf I watch as little as Liverpool as I can. But the games I did catch he was either shite (tonight and against us) or he just looked like a midtable fullback. Someone calling him “bloody excellent” is just bizarre, to me anyway. As I said he would be lucky to reach Glen Johnson heights.
Well those would be spectacular heights to reach.

Considering his age (19) he’s a very good young fullback.

Interesting how blasé everyone is about playing Colombia. They’re not an easy team and on the same side of the draw as Croatia.

Celebrating being on the ‘easy’ side Of the draw is not in the spirit of football and today’s match was an absolute joke.

This is likely to backfire

Some bitter people on here, thinking England rigged the result. The England haters coming out of the woodwork. They made changes and the 2nd 11 were just not good enough. Belgium also made wholesale changes.

I think fullback is a very easy position to look good in when you’re not particularly good. For me he’s very meh and overrated by Liverpool fans.

That has got to be the worst attempt at ball control in the history of the universe. And I've watched Wayne Rooney play.
It wasn't ball control. It's pretty obvious he was trying to flick it towards goal with the outside of his boot.

The comments on Pickford I've been saying since the warm up games, all the saves look like ones for the cameras, just catch it. His diving is very erratic and weird looking too.

If England had played the first team and won 3-0, the same people would be calling Southgate naive and clueless.

Poor management that. All the good feeling and momentum has gone from last game and once again, England have failed to beat a team that is any good.

Wonder
Give him a new contract

No because that will mean we will be too busy writing a contract and won’t be able to complete any other business at all.

This will mean that we can solely concentrate on Martial who has 2 years left on his contract

Well the strategists got their way. So how confident does everyone feel now?

Not very I’d wager. If we had played our best side and won we’d be thinking ‘bring it on’ regardless of who we might meet.

Now we’re in the so-called soft half of the draw. But we’ve just lost and played in a manner reminiscent of all our recent competitions. People will be coming out with the same old shit about picking ourselves up, bouncing back etc etc.

Now the pressures on because we’ve got the supppssed easy route. The papers will have a field day and next thing you know we will have the jitters against Colombia.

Feck losing! It’s wrong all day long.

The last major tournament was won by being on the easy side of the draw and fluking your way to narrow victories.

No reason to blame Southgate here. Both teams rested their starting 11's. Not his fault Belgium's B team is slightly better than England's B team. There will be big questions asked if England don't beat Colombia.

Hasn’t it been proven many times you have better reach going with the so called ‘wrong’ hand?

With massive limitations. I think Southgate will be found wanting.
I don't think the so called best teams in this tournament are that good tbh or germany would have absolutely killed it. I dont mind careful optimism but it doesn't need to be to an extreme.

Couldn’t agree more. I can definitely see us getting a grade A dicking from Columbia. We’re not German enough to be able to turn it on and off.

Fellaini was one of the best performers on the pitch, if not motm. I realise it doesn' suit the agenda though
He plays this way for united too. Doesn't give the ball away much when he's in possession but it doesn't get factored into the narrative here.
