Day 24: Sweden vs England and Russia vs Croatia

What is 'coming home'?

Want and guess that England and Croatia win. So, it has to be Sweden and Russia.
 
Sweden 1-0 England
Russia 2-2 Croatia. Croatia win on pens.

Football's not coming home!

Let's hope for a Sweden/Russia double eh?!

I think England will do enough to beat Sweden but honestly can't call it. Ditto for the Croatia/Russia game with the former obviously the better side but who knows what will happen.
 
I feel as sick as a dog about this game. It would be so huge for the country to get to a world cup semi final. Nothing brings the country together like the national team doing well and god do we need it at the moment.
 
Two dreadful games I expect.

Just hope we can somehow click into gear and not fall victim of the great Swedish defensive wall. Expectations are very low.
 
Got a horrible feeling that Russia will beat Croatia.

Croatia have some huge players a yellow away from a suspension (Rakitic, Vrsaljko, Brozovic, Mandzukic, Rebic) of the starters. Gonna have to be mindful of that. Could probably get away with Brozovic missing the semi because Kovacic coming in is a quality player but Rakitic, Mandzukic or Rebic could be disastrous.

Sorry bro, good luck tomorrow but I'm starting to get the same South Korea 2002 vibe with this Russia side, just with less ref scandals.

They are but only in the sense that a booking can't see you miss the final. Anyone on the suspension tightrope who is booked in the QF still misses the semi ie Meunier tonight for Belgium.

You helped me decide what my dream scenario would be like. Sweden playing Croatia in semi without Rakitic, Mandzukic and Rebic who all got booked during 120 minutes. :drool:
 
I hope for England and Croatia, but think it will be Sweden and Croatia. England surprise me and deliver for once

I think tomorrow is the day that Russia will be found out to be out of their depth. The Croats will click like they did against the Argies, the Russian adrenaline will wear off, and it will end with an absolute thrashing.
 
It has the feel like when United reached that last CL Final. Facing relatively "easy" teams up to the last hurdle, when then Barca taught us about football.

WC Final: England vs France.
 
England v Sweden is going to be a dour game unless there's an early goal. Could go to ET/penalties. One goal will probably win it.

Croatia to beat Russia.
 
Don't know about anyone else, but woke up and took the dog out for her early morning walk and there's just a strange nervous vibe around the place. Like the whole nation is just waiting for 3pm to arrive.

Don’t really think getting knocked out by Sweden will be viewed as a success. I still believe that, considering the opponents they were pitted against, England will need to reach semis for this tournament to be a success.

Then they’ll have exceeded expectations and be more free of pressure.
