What is Bale's commercial value to Real? I can't see it being as high as Kaka and Ronaldo unless looks/monkey resemblance doesn't affect commercial appeal. Beckham wouldn't have generated as much commercial appeal if he looked like a rat or chimp.

Stupid deal, well overpriced. Just saw the unveiling and how pathetic. From the badge kissing to the kissing of 'the boss' Ronaldo's arse it was a total circus and farce. As if Bale has been following Real since being 9 years old. Was he watching them on S4C for fecks sake.

to be fair, I bought a Madrid shirt aged 11 when I visited, doesn't necessarily mean it was my dream to play there. As much as I would have loved to, that is.
If owning a shirt when you're a kid is being a lifelong fan, I'm a continental fairweather whore. Also, as of recently, I've always dreamt of playing for New York Cosmos...and Brazil.

I went to Turkey and came back with a fake Galatasary shirt. I was heavily chastised by my friends and I don't think ever I wore it again, even though I still quite liked it. Every now and then I wonder where that shirt got put because I can't seem to recall ever being able to find it.

It's also the fact he tried to balance it on his foot, and it fell straight off. I honestly think your average Joe could have done a more impressive showing. He then booted some balls into the crowd, but what I reckon he didn't realise is they stadium was only filled from the first tier. So he was probably kicking the balls into the second tier where there was nobody!

You get an idea of the sheer extent of Ronaldo's self-belief when you see that picture and consider what he went on to do afterwards.

I heard yesterday that his preferred destination was Man. United and that he would have joined us had a bid been accepted.
Regarding the badge kissing and the "had a Madrid shirt when he was a kid", he's said during the unveiling that he's been a fan of Madrid his whole life. It might be genuine of course. He really might have followed and admired Real Madrid since he was a nipper, but to me it just sounded a bit Robbie Keane.
