Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

I'm unsure if Madrid will see the best of him from the right, where he started. Most of his best work for Tottenham came from the left or centre, he even moved to the left before he scored tonight.

I thought most of his best work came drifting in from the right towards the end at Spurs, and he looked a bit more restricted out on the left for that period at Madrid. He clearly has freedom to drift centrally in any case and Ronaldo and he can switch wings quite easily.

Yeah true, they've both scored tonight too so that probably eased any worries concerning fitting the two in.

Crap. His general play isn't great anyway.

Crap's a bit brutal. He was OK - for someone who hasn't played for months. He had trouble getting into the game and trouble keeping the ball. In terms of the team, he looked like someone who'd trained with his teammates twice and was trying to remember the tactics boards. Early days though and he did keep the galactico tradition flying by scoring on his Liga debut - like both Ronaldos, Figo and Beckham.

Agreed.

I was pleased for him.

He was barely in the game, which was understandable seeing as he has had no pre season.

But an important goal for him

Yep I was pleased for him also he did look rusty though but Madrid were all over the place and looked like a team that hadn't played together. Ronnie wasn't any better to be honest.

I think its great because hes not the most hatable person, even if it may be going to his head a little bit, and its nice to see a British player succeed abroad at one of the worlds biggest clubs. The Welsh have such poor players overall bar midfield/wingers.

It wasn't exactly the easiest first game he could have had. Villarreal away is always tough and last night they were up for it and all over Real. He did nothing basically but scored and that's not bad in his first start since May.

A bit of TV gossip that I'll post even though it may not be true, but just because it ought to be true :smirk:

Apparently Madrid put Bale onto a few lists to help him sort out a house to rent (he's in a hotel right now) and it looks like he's chosen - guess where

Ozil's old place.
Hands up if you said Ronaldo's street?

A good choice if its true - La Moraleja, a posh suburb of Madrid, easy commute to work and it's where several of the international schools are.

When did Madrid become a rival. Have they now joined the Pl?.

They're a rival of ours on so many levels.

European rival. Rival for "most profitable club in the world". Rival for biggest club in the world. Rival for best players (who always seem to go there anyway ). They're probably ahead in all those categories but they're rivals nonetheless.

Wanting them or their players to do well is just absurd.

If that keeps you awake at night then so be it , but tbh i couldn't care less, i really don't follow Madrid and if we meet them i want to beat them like any other team ,but for me i don't see them as rivals , just my opinion. And yes Shark, dead serious.
