Hull City vs. Manchester United

Fabio limped off against Sunderland reserves 16 days ago and hasn't been seen since. He's done for the season I'm afraid.

Foster (if fit, otherwise Kuszczak)
Rafael
Evans
Neville
Fabio
Nani
Fletcher
Gibson
Tosic
Welbeck
Macheda

I don't care who is relegated and this team is good enough to beat Hull anyway. So give them a go.

I'd play that side but have Rio instead of Evans and Eckersley/Simpson in for Fabio. Rio needs to play some football before the CL final to prove his fitness and if he is not ready to play it is pointless risking our back up centre half in a nothing game.

Fletcher to captain the side, he deserves it. If Neville isn't playing that is.

1.Throw the kids in...let Shearer and Southgate and Mowbray and Sbragia blame their entire 38 game season on one Ferguson (like Warnock two years ago) :D
2.Brown is back in training...isn´t he?
3.Is Simpson available for this game (I think so)?
4.We should rest J.Evans cause if Rio isn´t fit for the final and Evans get a injury in this game then we´re fecked.

Starting XI:-------- Kuszczak/Foster -----------------
Eckersley ---- Neville --------------- Brown ------ Fabio
Nani -------- Fletcher -------------- Gibson ----- Tosic
------------ Welbeck -------------- Macheda ---------

Bench: Kuszczak/Foster/Amos, Simpson, Chester, De Laet, C.Evans, Possebon, Martin

If there was ever a chance to let the fans play, its this match

-----------Foster
--Rafael-Neville-Rio-Fabio--
-Nani-Fletcher-Gibson-Tosic-
------Welbeck-Kiko--------
1-1 Tosic to score from a free kick

Would be unfair if we fielded a very diffrent side, Im expecting something like:

Foster

Rafeal Oshea Evans Fabio

Nani Fletcher Gibson Tosic

Kiko Welbeck

by the way....

does anyone else think ronaldo might play some part given the fact he might need to if he is to win the golden boot

if fergie gives in that is...

Have to say I have very little interest in this game, that said I still want us to feck up Hull

No chance, how many times has Fergie subbed Ronaldo off just before he's completed hattricks?

No competition Maciek, VidaRed is a matchday-thread legend. I vote for him to make the CL-thread.
Yes. He's gonna make a Champions League Final Matchday Thread.

I sent him 'my' logos and kits yesterday ;)

Rest everyone. I'd be happy with:

Code:
        Welbeck Macheda

 Tosic Gibson Fletcher Nani

Fabio C. Evans Neville Eckersley

            Kuszczak

If Fabio is out then Tosic to left back and Martin(!) to left wing.

-----------Kuszczak-----------
Eckersley-Chester-Evans-Fabio
Fletcher---Possebon--Gibson
Welbeck---Macheda----Tosic

Rio should probably get some minutes under his legs as well, coming back from injury.

----------------------Kuzczak------------------

--Eckersley-----Neville--Chester-------Rafael---

---L.Martin-----Fletcher---Gibson------Tosic-----

--------------Macheda------Wellbeck--------------

Subs: Foster, Fabio, Rio, Nani, Febian Brandy, Ravel Morrison, Possebon
Prediction:2-1 win with goals from Macheda, Wellbeck

There's no way the team will be as weak as some are suggesting.

Anybody who has a chance of playing in Rome should not be risked. So:

----------------Kusczczak
Simpson---Brown (if fit)---De Laet-----Fabio
Martin------Fletcher---Gibson-------Tosic
------------Welbeck---Macheda

We´ve done that against Chelsea two years ago.......Dong, Lee, Eagles, Richardson..........
that was a pointless game .. this isnt

but we put out a weak side against everton in the FA semis too ..

fabio , macheda , welbeck , gibson , tosic to start .. the others are all getting league medals , so they arent really reserves

Congrats VidaRed, you got the most pointless game of the season from our perspective :p

There's still a lot riding on this game so there's no way it will be as weak as it was that day.

What's riding on this game other than avoiding injuries for Rome  I couldn't give a shit about Alan Shearer.

Quite, anyone who is even on the plane to Rome shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch at Hill.

Nothing for us but a lot in the context of the relegation battle and because of that we won't play a team of kids. Betcha.

We rested quite a few with the FA Cup final a week later 2 seasons ago against West Ham.

This time we have a bigger game (in fact, you could say it's one of our 4 biggest games ever) only 3 days after the game.

Man Utd: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Brown, Heinze, Evra (Giggs 57), Solskjaer, Carrick (Scholes 58), Fletcher, Richardson, Smith (Ronaldo 58), Rooney.

Hardly a bunch of kids.

apparently not!!

we could send that piece of shite shearer down.

more like the icing on the cake....can a loss be a win ?

I'm not fully aware of all the injuries, so presuming the following players are fit, I'd play:

Foster

Rafael
Chester
Evans
Fabio

Nani
Possebon
Gibson
Tosic

Welbeck
Macheda

Probably no chance to win the match with this squad, but it is a good opportunity to give a few lads a chance.

It is absolutely certain that Ronaldo will start imo. He is joint top goalscorer with Anelka, he will need at least 1 more goal imo, and he said it himself after the game on Saturday. I really can't see him not starting. Not sure how the rest of the team will look. I imagine Foster, Raf, Evans, Nani, Fletcher and Kiko will start along with Ronnie, but the rest of the team I am not so sure of.

Rio might be wrapped in cotton wool to make sure he is ok for the final, so that would mean Evans and Vidic in the centre. Evra will probably start at LB - don't know what the story is with Fabio at the moment. I don't think any of Anderson, Carrick or Giggs will start (as they are my 3 picks to start against Barcelona) so that means it is between Scholes and Gibson for central midfield. I reckon Gibson, to keep scholes 100% fresh, even if it is just a bench role for him on Wednesday week.

I would love to see Martin given a game, as I think his performances for the reserves merit it, he could start on the left of midfield, and swap about with Nani. However, if a reserve winger is going to get a start, Tosic is the more likely given he is the big money signing and Martin still doesn't have a contract for next season. Up front, I reckon Kiko will start, but i don't have a clue who will start beside him. It could be Ronnie (with Nani and someone else on the wings) or it could be either Berbatov or Tevez, with Ronnie playing on the wing.

I don't understand why people are putting Evans/Rafael into the squad, risk absolutely no one!
To be fair, is there really anyone else? Lol

At the back

- Eckersley should probably start over Rafael.
- Neville should play centreback.
- Chester could start at centreback over Evans.
- Fábio at left back but he's supposedly injured.. though we've got nearly a week before we get the final verdict on that.
- Brown was confirmed to not play again this season (I think).
- O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, and Evra will be nowhere near the pitch (hopefully anyway).

So, what does that leave us with?

Eckersley - Neville - Chester - Fábio (if fit)

Subs: Rafael, Evans

They've pretty much go to be in the squad at least, and if Fábio can't make it one of Rafael or Evans will have to play left back in this game, and be on the bench for the Champions League final. We do have Cleverley who could play in the defence, but it still means we lack a proper fullback on the left side.

Keeper: Kuszczak or Foster.. Amos might have a shout or some other x-string keeper. I think Kuszczak will just get to play perhaps his last Premier League game for us, Foster either on the bench or kept away to be on the bench for the Barca game.

In the middle

- Hargreaves is injured.
- Fletcher is suspended for the Champions League final so will feature here.
- Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Anderson will all be in the squad for Barca surely, so nowhere near this game hopefully.
- That leaves us with Fletcher, Gibson, Possebon, Cleverley, Petrucci (if fit) Hewson, Martin for the central midfield; even though Martin prefers the wing, he might have to play in the middle with Nani, Tosic, and Welbeck in the picture.
- Nani, Tosic, Welbeck, Martin are our wing options.

Nani - Gibson - Fletcher - Tosic

Is probably the most likely. There's experience, work rate, and pace in there, along with a lot of youth too..

Subs: Possebon, Martin

Forwards

- Welbeck, Macheda, Tévez, Berbatov

I liked how well Welbeck and Macheda looked together earlier this season, so I'd like to see it again.

Overall bench

Foster
Rafael
Evans
Possebon
Martin
Tévez
Berbatov

Now.. if you don't want anyone who's likely to feature in the Barca squad.. It'd look something like this:

Kuszczak
Eckersley Neville Chester Fábio
Martin Gibson Fletcher Tosic
Macheda Welbeck
--
Subs: Amos; Cleverly; Possebon, Petrucci, Hewson and erm..

Well yeh, we still can't do it and that's if we had no injuries in our youths. As Foster, Rafael, Evans, Nani, Tévez, and Berbatov are all likely on the bench to face Barcelona (along with one of Scholes, Giggs, or Anderson).

Enough rambling now, but the point is, we'll definitely see some players playing against Hull or on the bench against Hull who will be on the bench against Barcelona (some maybe even starting, but I doubt that).

The thing about the Hull game is that any players who will likely play in Rome, except maybe Rooney, would be tip tapping aound avoiding challenges to avoid injury. The younger players like Gibson and Macheda will have far more to play for and will work harder.

So the press and Newcastle will thow a wobbler if United don't play their best XI. But there's no way you will get a good performance from such an XI. Hull will beat a United side that refuses to tackle.

I think a side similar to the FA Cup Semi final (with Fletcher) will play, and I'll be surprised if they can't get a result.

It is absolutely certain that Ronaldo will start imo. He is joint top goalscorer with Anelka, he will need at least 1 more goal imo, and he said it himself after the game on Saturday. I really can't see him not starting.

Yeah and we'll probably start VdS and our first choice defence with Carrick infront of them to make sure he gets the golden glove ahead of Reina as well.

fecking hell.
