International Friendlies May/June

Its so painful to watch Sweden play. Crap football team
Didn't watched the match, but keep in mind Peru has a good team, will not be surprised if they finish ahead of Denmark in the group stages.

Tunisia is looking good against Spain. Pique and Ramos are a bit exposed.

France vs perhaps the least experienced/youngest US squad ever.

With all the holding, do you think that the packer's coaching staff is involved with the US soccer team?

A lot of people underrate Tunisia here but having watched them on a friendly here in Portugal I can see them creating some sort of troubles to Belgium.

Having said that I think the strongest team from North Africa is Morocco who clearly will fight with Portugal for the second place imo.

Yes they are capable of finishing 2nd absolutely because of their defensive organization. But it's a team so completely lacking attacking quality. They have Forsberg who is quality, but he is the only player who can do something special with the ball. Lustig, Granquist, Toivonen, Berg and Larsson are all 31-33 years old, none of them are quick. In addition they have Albin Ekdal in central midfield who looked a capable player 5-6 years ago - but injuries and lack of form has reduced him to just another decent player.

The USMNT is so shit. They can't string two passes together.

Terrible first half, Tunisia with a very annoying pressure. The midfield is not working.

Does not matter. It is still a success for that team to hold France without a goal until minute 40...

If you look at the last friendlies I guess nobody wants the World Cup title...

The USMNT is so shit. They can't string two passes together.

Only one player has reached ten caps and eight starters are aged 23 or younger. It's basically the NT equivalent of SAF trotting out kids with a few first team players in a league cup match. They're also playing one of the top three/four NT squads in the world. This is quite expected and that they've held out for 40 minutes is extraordinary.

So shit that France are failing to score against them and its almost halftime. This is a young US team too, basically an U-23 squad. 1-0 to USA btw

Is this France's likely starting XI for the Cup? It's strong in quality for sure, and speed.

It's eleven of the thirteen probable players but the system is an experiment.

Didn't know that. Was just commenting on what I saw, which was horrible passing from the US. France really should be doing better here. Would not be betting on them to win the WC despite their extreme strength on-paper.

What is the system experiment you mention?

With how the US are in a 5-4-1/5-3-2/5-something-mess and pinned back, basically allowing France to push forward frequently.

442 diamond hasn't been used much by France, in general we use width. That system is actually terrible against a back five because the fullbacks are isolated and the middle congested.

Yes, this side is certainly not a possession or passing side. It's basically in bunker mentality, hoof it forward, and maybe get a fluke or catch the French out.

The French FBs were certainly getting space and past the US defenders early on. Commentator even mentioned the US bunker mentality was allowing the French FBs to play more as wingers.

Feck me this France side making hard work of USA!

Lloris once again showung how overrated he is! Spurs fans still think he’s better than DDG

Because France is a better side but this is a pretty bad half with little offensive threat from France.

Put Griezmann behind Giroud and Lemar + Mbappe out wide, with Tolisso and Kante in midfield. Easy.
