Internationals March (Euro Qualifiers + Friendlies)

You do realize that the Mata that is on the Spain bench is not Juan Mata, right? It is Jaime Mata, same age as Juan but an unknown who has had a late career rise to the top.

Oh right.

I was just looking on a betting site and they listed on subs as "J Mata" so just assumed Juan had got a surprise recall.

Yeah I do know this Mata, he plays for Getafe dosen't he? Ex Valladolid.

Probably shows Spain are having the Portugal problem of a lack of decent out and out strikers.

We're using Mourinho's United blueprint. Pointlessly hoof the ball, lose possession, be exposed defensively, rely on the goalie to make big saves.

1-0 to us at HT. Good display overall. We played some nice football, but we need to be more ruthless upfront.

Norway can't help it though, it's as good as it gets.

Lucho is using this game as some kind of homage to players.

Parejo and Rodrigo deserve to be starting, but they're probably there because this game is played in Mestalla in Valencia's centenary, that's why Gaya is there too when we already have Alba and Bernat.
Canales deserved a call up, even if he may not end being part of this team, same with Muniain, Navas and Mata.

A bunch of players that 90% will be in the Euro aren't here. Fabian, Alcacer, Costa, Koke, Thiago, even Herrera, others in the bench (Rodri, Saul). Parejo has the level to play at this stage but I doub't he'll be there, too many options ahead of him.

This might come back to bite me, but I am not happy about Johnsen coming in. He dreams of Lukaku’s touch.

Could have brought on a traffic cone for Tarik for all I care.

Please don't miss King :nervous:

Missed the 1st half of ESP/Norway: how did odegaard do?

Norway have struggled to hold on to the ball, so not the best conditions for him. Outside of one dangerous dispossession as he was meandering backwards on the wing, trying to find a white shirt, he was ok. Had a couple of involvements going forward that showed his class. Tricky match for him.

King

DDG and pen saves

Don't Norway have the play offs as fall back option?

Difficult to say they'll finish top 2 when Spain and Sweden are in the group but Lagerback is excellent coach for national teams so I do think you're on the right path to making a major tournament again.

Between us and Norway for that 2nd spot. We didn't look great today, laboured slow football against a very weak Romanian side. Our manager seems to be against players with pace, Sema (Watford) and Isak should have started IMO especially against a team we're expected to beat at home.

Add Nordtveit to the list of players I never want to see play again.

He's so weak and slow a breeze would blow him over.

He's only in the team for his long throw-ins which after all these years still haven't resulted in a single goal.

With 28 years and after breaking 3 times the cruciate,Canales debuts with Spain :)

After making it 1-1 one of the Elyounoussi's makes a mistake. And that's how it's supposed to be.

Edit: Nordtveit.

Yeah, doesn’t seem like Nordtveit will come good.

Surprised we’ve not seen any lethal brain farts from Alesaami, though!
