Really glad to see this all finalized. Hopefully it gives the whole team a lift like it has with the fan base and we start picking up far more wins

The amount of times over the last two years i've looked on admiring Mata playing for Chelsea, knowing he'd never turn out for us but still loving to watch him. The amount of sarcastic comments posted on here after he played well against us time and time again asking us to stick a cheeky bid in. In the summer when the Rooney thing was happening, some posted that we were batshit mental to turn down 10m plus Juan for Rooney.

I guess you could say that this still hasn't sunk in for me.

I agree. But to be honest...we are a huge club...one of the biggest in the world and we SHOULD be signing players like Mata.....so it's a relief that perhaps....we may very well start doing it more often.

Yeah, I get that. You'd think a master negotiator would be confident enough in his own ability though. Strange one really.

I'm sure the article is making it sound more extreme than it was.

Madrid and United didn't negotiate about Ronaldo, Mendes did. United didn't want to talk to Madrid, Madrid didn't want to wreck a deal, that already had some agreement in principle behind it - it kept the emotion out of the business. Even so I bet Gill still shook Calderon/Perez's hand when they met at FIFA events, I bet SAF said hello to Schuster at manager meetings. What they didn't do is a face to face meeting to argue about the specific conflict between the clubs.

Negotiations take place over hours, weeks, months. Woodward left it to the people who built a relationship, but I bet he acknowledged the desire to deal with his opposite numbers at Chelsea. Just as I'm sure Moyes, SAF, Gill, Mourinho and Abramovich all shook hands after the Chelsea match, and knew they were negotiating - but not in a way that could turn into another argument.

If that article's true than fair fecks to The Aeroplane, that's some neat transfer muppetry right there!

I reckon he's been banned.
I reckon he's Skilldy.
Great signing for Manchester United, i see an almost instant impact from the player. This will lift everyone connected with the club. I fear for Cardiff tomorrow night, they could be in for a hammering.
What a night it's going to be! Return of Ole to OT, Mata's first game. Gonna be a hell of a game!

Presser with Mata at 13.30GMT (3 hours 20 mins away)

He's ridiculous. He actually seems like he's writing all these long heartfelt erudite messages to the fans. Footballers aren't supposed to be like this. cnuts.

Wait until he gets settled and starts taking photos and writing about the architecture of Manchester.

You won't get many tweets from Mr Mata about Big Brother. :(

Yeah I've been looking through his profiles ...He's the anti-Rooney. He even looks like a smarter, handsomer parallel universe version. Like someone's Pygmalioned him. PygWayneion.

Tbf, you can get away with it if you're Spanish. Our equivalent was Joey Barton David Brenting his way around a Freud exhibition.

So Mata's dad was the third party that did the negotiations for us.

It is on SSN but the thing is MUTV will have longer coverage of the whole thing. So please anyone with a MUTV stream, PM me a link.
