Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

Poor Glaston, he is gonna lose his money now!

So where does this leave us, then? Assuming he wants to go Chelsea and we can't get our hands on Mr. Wesley Sneijder?

There's some classy lads in the Spanish under 21 squad.

Modric could always travel to Manchester daily couldn't he? He has an arrangement to go to a club that can win the title and play in the CL. There is still hope!

It's abundantly clear that Modric will not be leaving Spurs this summer - the evidence for this is overwhelming and there is zero evidence to the contrary.

"Sooner or later" means next summer at the earliest

Modric said:
‘I want to leave Tottenham...I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.'

Oh Dear :lol::lol:

I'm torn between being absolutely gutted at probably missing out on him and laughing at Glaston.

As much I'd like the lot of them over here, we very rarely pick up young midfielders from the Iberian peninsula. Can you see us going for any of them? Sadly, I can't.

Sort of feel sorry for Glaston......it's not nice to hear that talk from players you adore.

I would've usually felt sorry for him too, however he was so unbelievably arrogant regarding his comments, that he is only himself to blame.

I hope we have our backup options (If we were even interested in Modric - there's no evidence we were)...I think it's a bit of a shock he'll end up at Chelsea though.

Why would it be a shock? It was perfectly predictable from the moment they showed interest in him.

nasri?

Dont really know who we could go after. Honestly thought modric was best option for us.

Nasri will not come. He's just holding out for more money from Arsenal. That's my understanding of the situation.

But their interest wasn't necessarily predictable. There was an assumption from many until the last few days that if Fergie wanted him he'd get him. We still don't know if Fergie even wanted him, we don't seem to have made a bid for a start.

Fergie has praised Modric over and over again the last couple of years, so I'd be very surprised if he doesn't want him.

Class player, bit disappointed that it looks like he'll be off to Chelsea. If United are genuinely interested in him then I reckon Fergie could persuade him to come to Old Trafford still.

They wanted to sign him last summer so their interest was quite predictable, especially after the season they had. They also need a creative midfielder, they have money, they are in London - they'll probably get him.

Why haven't we bid though? Maybe we didn't want to match Spurs' valuation for him or we knew he wanted to stay in London or something, but it seems wierd. Chelseas bid has been known for 2 days now, and we haven't responded to it. Maybe our priorities lie elsewhere.

It's a massive shame for Spuds, I hope Levy rinses the renties like he does with us.

Meanwhile I hope we're in the background all over Sneijder like a fooking rash. Thankfully my muppet had modric at number 3 after Nasri and Sneijder.

I might actually top myself if we don't bring in a top drawer midfielder, I can't go through that Barca night for a third time.

Or maybe we've known all along that he prefers to stay in London.

I think you're making a mistake in assuming you know everything that goes on behind the scenes.

I'm spaculating, it's the transfer forum :D I'd ASSUME though a bid would have been made public by someone, if not just to drive the price up. Interest leaked to the papers etc, there seems to have been very little of it.

A few days ago I posted in this thread and nominated Modric as the man for us. Now it appears that we have no interest in him and he is set to sign for our rivals.

I nominate Charlie Adam as our midfield signing.

Because he would sign for our rivals in that event, not because I actually want him here.

Seriously close the fecking transfer window now, couldn't bare to see him sign for Chelsea :(

With Fergie naming him as his player of the year, repeatedly speaking of his admiration for him, and Modric clearly stating he wants out, I'm expecting a bid. Several players before have spoken of clubs as if it looks certain they will only join them, such as Silva last summer, before signing for another club. Perhaps the interviewer only asked about Chelsea as only they have bid, or maybe he spoke of them only for the same reason. At least give him an alternative.

He said "I want to stay in London".

Can't be much clearer than that.
