Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

I've decided I want him for us. He's like a little bit of Giggs and a little bit of Scholes bundled up in a Croatian David Guetta.

Agreed, I think he would be a perfect fit for Utd.

So, do youwant liverpool or Spurs in the Europa league next season, because if it's spurs, then the chances of us getting Modric gets worse.

I dig your point Jinn, but in sayin that - there's still a massive difference between playin in the Europa League & Champions League tbf, and there's little to suggest Spurs will get back into the top 4 next year too. So Modric will want the best platform to ply his trade..

'Arry also admitted that they will need to sell to buy, so thats Modric & Bale firmly in the shop window. Bale was stupid goin to spurs ahead of us in the first place, dont know the ins & outs of that deal, but its been said he was offered more loot & went for it. United need to get real if thats the case, because if we're in for him, then we'll pay a stupid fee whe we could have got him for peanuts by comparison!

Spurs could be in the Europa league anyway, Redknapp was saying they could lose and still qualify via the Fair Play League. He also said he wants to win, otherwise it could mean coming back to training for matches in June.

If Modric comes, Anderson gets barely any game time.

So I don't think he'll come.

He would fit well with Carrick in the middle

The players that Harry will be looking to sell are the likes of O'hara, Keane, Naughton, Hutton, Bentley etc, plus one or two of our current strikers.

It's foolish to believe that Modric and Bale will be on offer and nor is there the slightest indication that either wishes to leave.

Both players will certainly be at Spurs next season .... barring some amazingly jaw-dropping bid from a mega-rich sugar-daddy club.

Unless you lose/draw the last match and Liverpool win though...

"Europe" means a lot to most players.

If I had to choose between Sneijder and Modric, I'd definitely take the Dutch man. Superb shot, excellent control, great eye for a pass and a dangerous free kick taker.

Wishful thinking I am afraid, you can't guess how a player will react if a bid from a bigger club comes in, a decent bid from Utd could easily unsettle either of them. You didn't make the CL that leaves you vulnerable to losing players.

To me Modric comes across as a guy that won't jump ship just because of no CL though would love to have him with us.

That said if he think's that he will be able to stay at Spurs and make it back into the CL with them - he's in for a rude awakening. Spur's have blown it, they could have done it this season but, I think Liverpool will even be ahead of them next season. They aren't going to get the striker they desperately need being out of the CL this season.

Had they been in the CL for one more season and managed to get a reliable goal scoring striker, they could have continued to compete for a CL spot but, think that's gone for them now.

Just thought I would throw this in here as Modric is a Spurs player, but a writer from the USA is stating that Spurs will sign Friedel soon

Its the loss of revenue for Spurs not making the CL rather than the players desire to play in it that make a transfer more likely imo.

I have no idea what type of person Modric is but if you are good enough to play at the top tier then that is generally where you want to be. Utd = top tier, Spurs = wannabees.

The wishful thinking is to imagine that Levy would sell for a "decent bid", even assuming that either player wanted to leave.

The minimum asking price would be a truly staggering amount. I say that with confidence. But hey, each to their own opinion.

A decent bid can start a process, bid comes in, player decides he would like to go, haggling begins, deal done, Utd have a new player ;)

Not with Spurs, they'll take us to the cleaners.

And the fee will turn into a poisoned chalice for the player.

Depends on the state of their finances, no CL next season might not have been part of the plan. I just think that if Fergie decides Modric is someone he wants, he might well get him. The fact is Spurs have always been a selling club and until they get a bigger stadium or a sugar daddy that wont change.

While a lot of what you say is true, Fergie tends to go in with a maximum price in his mind, that's what I'm basing this on. We saw that with Benzema. I've no doubt that Spurs will not part with Modric for less than 40m pounds. Pretty certain Fergie won't go near that.

£20m plus Berbatov would seal it, i can see Spurs accepting the deal.

If your boy gets an offer he's off. But it won't get that far as he'll be priced out of a move even if there is interest.

Benzema was unproven in the PL though, Modric is proven and Berbs transfer proves that he will pay the speculated price if he thinks he has the right player.

Recent FM history suggests that one of Modric/Hamsik will end up at City.

Hutton? I thought he'd had a decent season.

Modric's not very good. You can keep him

No white text?

A bit over-rated.

Won't get better imo and for the price that Spurs are going to ask, dont think he is worth it.

If Man United come in for Modric it will happen.

Spurs will get a good fee, but ultimately the deal is done as soon as that fax comes through because the player will want to leave. Unless he's from Mars.

You think Bale's potentially world class but you don't think the same of Modric?

He is definitely good but he isn't in the same league as Fabregas imo

Maybe. But does that mean we shouldn't sign him?

I actually think he could play at a similar level to Fabregas in a better side.
