Dont know about combination as any Utd fan will happily admit our CM is the main area of concern with us right now and we clearly need a top quality addition, but id happily take any of Carrick/Fletcher/Anderson over every single midfield player at spurs bar one, the only central midfield player youve got of any genuine quality and star value to attract top sides is Modric, all of the midfield trio i listed at UTD have achieved and shown more than Sandro has and dont get me started on huddelstone....

Its fair enough your excited about him hes a talent, but just because you wouldnt swap him for say Carrick dosnt make him a better player which as of now he quite clearly isnt, in 3 years time he may be but thats another argument.

Carrick and Fletcher would displace Sandro anyday of the week. Like others have said, Modric is the only midfielder you have that would get into our midfield.

Wilshere-Song-Fabregas is a better midfield unit.

Same with Essien-Ramires-Lampard.

De Jong, Silva, Toure could easily be too if they didn't have Barry clogging it up.

Oh and to answer your question, Carrick is superior to Sandro. The only reason Spurs fans wouldn't swap him for Carrick is because of the age difference, currently Carrick is significantly better than him.

Modric is the only player who would walk into our starting XI, Bale is the only other debatable one.
 
Even if it involves getting into a bidding war we simply cannot allow another club get their hands on Modric if it starts to look like Spurs are willing to sell

We're not going to be able to compete with Chelsea if they really want him. They can outbid us, they can pay bigger wages, they can offer him the chance of staying in London.

In a summer where we're willing to pay 16m for Jones, a fee suggested to be around 27m for Sanchez and anything between 16-20m for Young what makes you think we dont have the money to compete with them?
 
They could offer cash + Benayoun & Anelka/Drogba - 'Arry would take that imo.
 
Levy will have us on standby if he wants to accept a bid. As soon as Chelsea reach their highest bid, he'll get in touch with us telling us they might be selling him.

That we've already committed 16.5m for Jones, 18m for De Gea and 16m for Young. For the record, I think the Sanchez rumours are rubbish, that signing would make no sense at all.

Chelsea will be happy to bid 40m for Modric, if necessary. We won't do that.

Who's to say they will? Torres was a long term target for Chelsea so they probably knew how much it would take to get him, I'm not convinced they'd spend the same sort of money on Modric

Levy's not daft enough to let his personal hatred for United get in the way of potentially more money.

The very fact it has been leaked says that someone wants a deal to happen, Chelsea would have wanted to keep it under wraps so it isn't them which leaves Tottenham and Modric and his reps.

Why couldn't they get both? Lampard is ageing (and it's more and more obvious), Essien is half the player he was - they need midfielders. They can get rid of Benayoun - offer him in a swap deal or something - and get both.

I just can't see us winning a bidding war against Chelsea.

They can't get both. It doesn't even happen on FM :mad:

It just doesn't make sense signing both the players. Essien and Lampard are still a key part of midfield and they got Ramires and Mikel as well.
