Manchester City v Manchester United

play our best team.. momentum is at stake, win comfortably and we'll head into CL and remainder of Prem campaign with renewed vigour.

Kusz

Rafael
Fabio
Wes
Evans

Gibson
Anderson
Obertan
Park

Owen
Welbeck

subs

Diouf
Nani

The youngsters deserve another go. I don't see why Obertan, Gibson and Welbeck should miss out after Leeds when Gary Neville, Wes, Rooney etc seem to have been forgiven for their shocking displays.

The Carling Cup and indeed the FA cup should be used to give younger players an opportunity.

TK
Rafael, Rio, Evans, Fabio
Park, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs
Owen, Diouf

Fergie took Rooney off in the 70th minute yesterday so maybe that's an indication that he will play this match considering he rarely takes Rooney off, VDS will play as he still needs match fitness(although he was excellent against Burnley). Fergie won't/shouldn't go with a Ando/Gibson combo(after the leeds debacle) so I can see Fletcher starting this one

VDS
Rafael-Brown-Evans-Fabio
Nani-Gibson/Anderson-Fletcher-Park
Rooney-Owen

Rooney, Fletcher, Giggs are certs. Probably Park as well seeing as he didn't play yesterday.

Try owen and rooney up front for a change! rough game like city away berba could be useless but good to have on the bench of we wanna see anything out

Madness if we play Obertan. Need defensive support on the wings where City are strong.

Rooney will play after being subbed off early yesterday.

VDS

Rafael - Evans - Vidic - Fabio

Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Anderson - Giggs

Rooney

Think thats spot on...is the team id like to see and would make sense to, Giggs was rested yesterday, Fletch was suspended so theyll both be fresh, Anderson was only a late sub so he'll be fresh, Carrick was subbed so he didnt play the full game either as was Rooney so only Valencia of that front 6 has played 90 minitues this weekend...and only 2 of that starting outfield eleven.

Would be a very strong also fresh team.

------------Vds-------------
Rafael-Evans-Brown-Fabio
----Anderson--Fletcher---
Nani------Gibson-----Park
-----------Owen-----------

I reckon the team will look something like that. Perhaps Gibson out and Diouf or Rooney in.

Might see Fletch dropping to the right and Nani dropping out for a striker or even Obertan.

Starting XI:--------- Van Der Sar ----------------------

Bench: Kuszczak, Rafael, Gibson, Giggs, Obertan, Diouf, Welbeck

Got a feeling he will keep the Gibbo Anderson connect in midfield though.

This isn't the place for this, if you want to disscuss this rather than just keep saying I'm wrong without any justification may I suggest sending a PM

Well let me give you an explanation instead then. Welbeck has played a handful of games but shows he has the attributes to go to the very top, even in the games he has been berated for (eg Leeds) he still produced a good moment, his shot was saved by their keeper and had that gone in, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I'll drink my own pee if he doesn't make it with us.

Gibson, I had lost all hope for but SAF seems to have a real belief in him and he's another player who's shown he has a great eye for a pass and a lethal shot. His movement is up for question but how good was Carrick at Gibson's age? I think he's a similar player to him (fair enough if you don't agree with the comparison).

Countless number of people called for Ronaldo's head a countless number of times but he showed he had the raw attributes, I remember he tore Viera and Lauren to pieces in the FA cup final defeat to Arsenal and I remember thinking that if Ronaldo could play that way every match, he'd be the best player in the world and what do you know, even I was surprised by how good he got. While I don't think Welbeck will reach that level, I still think he'll go on to become a first choice striker for us. Quote this post and laugh at me all you want if he's sold.

I don't remember Gibson or wellbeck having a single good game.

Wellbeck just constantly runs into defender every time he gets the ball, then proceeds to whinge when hebloses the ball, immediate casing point being beckfords goal, and there are many cases of him doing this in good positions and not just when he is out wide but up top too.

Gibson doesn't have any noticable talent other than that he has a rocket of a shot, which isn't enough to make it at united to put it simply.

BTW this isn't a knee-jerk after Leeds, there are posts from me after we decimated derby in the FA cup last season saying the same

Gibson was excellent in the FA Cup semi last season. But his last couple of outings hve been disappointing.

Welbeck. I don't know. He's done some cool things at reserve level, but I've alway had big doubts about him and posted as much 18 months ago. It's like the whole game is about him carrying out some nice trick and he does not have the killer instinct or desire to really hurt the opposition.

I kind of wish Macheda or Josh King would avoid injury and get the playing the time that Welbeck has been getting.

Strong team. Anyone suggesting a chance for the kids is stupid.

City will be up for it.

Welbeck has been played almost consistantly out of position but has done well when played upfront, running at players isn't exactly something you can have a go at a young player for. His finishing is pretty damn good and his link up play around the area is good as well. Gibson seems quite shy on the field, he doesn't ask for the ball a lot but to say he has nothing more than a big shot is a little off. He has a good range of passing and his little turns out of trouble are very neat, he just needs to be a bit more assertive.

They may not make it at United, a lot of decent young players don't but to write them off, especially Welbeck at 19, is a bit presumptious.

I don't have problems with running at players, just into them without them actually having to move, and wellbeck upfront is no better thanwellbeck on the wing, if anything worse due to the fact he has no muscular build to him, this out of position stuff is just a cop out, and he very rarely shows this good link up play you talk of, I can't remember much of him doing any at all

and Gibson has little passing ability unless it's over a distance of approximately 5 yards, very much a one trick pony

Then either you have a very poor memory or you haven't watched many of his first team appearances. Welbeck has produced some super football this season (very much like Berbatov, Rooney, Owen and indeed Macheda - no-one has been totally convincing, all have had good moments, some more than others, and all have looked poor at times) and links very well with Macheda when the two of them feature in the first team together.

Do you not remember that ball to Rooney against Leeds that Rooney then fluffed? That was more 40 yards than 5. An Welbeck's link up with Owen against Wolves, with Tevez last season in the CC several times, and when he played in the Semi final of the FA cup one of the only real highlights was his and Macheda's link up play which led to the infamous penalty shout.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree with those two.
