Good luck to Berba. I've felt sorry for him over the past few weeks warming the bench, but it's got to be done. I reckon he'll win us the game.

I hope Tevez is unavailable. He's Easily their best player, and with Rooney out, it balances things out.

Van der Sar

Rafael
Smalling
Vidic
Evra

Park
Carrick
Scholes
Valencia

Anderson

Berbatov

Subs:
Kuszczak
O'Shea
Brown
Gibson
Nani
Giggs
Hérnandez

Scholes would be great on that pitch.

Reckon we'll go with Berba upfront with Nani and Valencia flanking him. Infact quite a similar team to Fulham.

Anyone else think Evra needs to get a bit of a "rest". He was good going forward tonight but teams can kill us down our left side seeing how bad defensively he's become.

Rafael and O'Shea as fullbacks please.

Team should be...

GK: VDS

RB: O'Shea
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
CM: Anderson

RW: Valencia
CF: Berbatov
LW: Nani

Subs: PIG, Smalling, Gibson, Giggs, Park, Hernandez, Owen

Head says this should be fairly comfortable with them not having Tevez available but I'm sure it wont be, I think we'll win just not sure by how many or who will score the goals.... Owen from the bench maybe?

SUBS: Kuszczak, O'Shea, Smalling, Giggs, Park, Owen, Hernandez.

Don't know how Fletcher's coming on, he could make the bench I suppose.

Let's do them at Wembley!

Hope SAF goes with Berba-Hernandez rather than 4-3-3. Kompany is a monster of a defender in superb form, I'd fancy him to chew Berba up and spit him out but with a partner I see Berba having a more productive game due to his own style and the fact Hernandez would create the space for him by occupying Kompany and Lescott.

Yeah definetly a 4-4-2 for this one in my view to, if we go at City i think we could really destroy them, Liverpool last night took the piss out of them at times and we have far better players than them.

Id go with:

................Van Der Sar

Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

---------Carrick - Scholes

Valencia............................Nani
......................Berbatov

................Hernandez

Ive no worries about going 4-4-2 for this, weve gone 4-4-2 against a far stronger Chelsea side home and away in the last week and won both games, City are no Chelsea and their midfield is very average on the ball, id back Carrick and Scholes in there.

City are incredibly weak in the full back positions and lack any sort of pace throughout their side, murder them on the flanks, have Evra and Rafael overlapping Valencia and Nani and aim everything down the sides, Kolorov and whoever they play at right back are there for the taking, Hernandez will occupy the centre halfs meaning Berbatov should like Rooney find plenty of space drifting off the front.

Im extremely confident about this one, think we could run out easy winners.

we should win it but its a fa cup game, anything can happen. :nervous:

Surely we must start Scholes in this? hes tailor made for the wide wembley pitch, can you imagine those 50 yard angled balls out to Nani and Valencia???

I think Scholes starting has to be a given for this, especially as he was left unused on the bench tonight.

Would love to see Scholes & Anderson in midfield and Berbatov with Owen up front.

Agreed. You've touched on the potential influence he could have on that wide pitch but also from a freshness POV, SAF will play him.

It's a pity Fletcher is out and by all accounts may need a considerable amount of time to get back playing. He and Scholes would fit the bill perfectly for this. Fletcher's absence I fear increases the likelyhood of SAF plumping for 4-3-3 and leaving Berba isolated.

Am I right in guessing that city havn't won away since last year?
If that's the case and going on that we know Wembley then on paper, we should win comfortably. I hope that's the case.

I'm not quite confident about this game TBH. Can see us losing on penalties or something.

VDS

Owen
Berbatov

Carrick and Evra kinda need rest. But Gibson, Anderson and Scholes is not exactly a midfield combo we can play against a full strength City side.

I'd imagine, going on tonight, that Anderson (Rested), Scholes (Bench), Berbatov (Bench), Valencia (only 15 mins), and Nani (Subbed early) are pretty sure to start, and I can't see SAF going for a midfield 2 of Scholes/Ando, so either Gibson or Carrick will play. So that leaves us looking like this...

Gibson/Carrick
Scholes
Anderson

Valencia
Berbatov
Nani

Defense could be interesting, I'd imagine Vidic and Evra are likely to start. Then depending on fitness one of Rio/Smalling. With any one of Rafael/O'Shea/Brown at RB. VDS might be rested to.

VDS/PIG

Rafael/O'Shea/Brown
Rio/Smalling
Vidic
Evra
