Manchester City vs. Manchester United

There is no way Rio is going to play against City. He was already hobbling today and he might be rested.

--------------VDS----------

Valencia-Carrick-Scholes-Nani
----------Berbasexual--------
----------Hernandez---------

Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Fabio, Anderson, Gibson/Fletcher, Giggs/Park, Owen

Goals: Berbasexual, Hernandez, Nani

JOS, Smalling, Vidic , evra
scholes, Anderson , park

Think we have to go 433. Whilst shite, shitty do have lots of farmers in midfield like Barry, milner and troure. They will all put in a workman's shift and we will have to counter that to allow our superior quality to shine. I'm fully expecting Mancini to line up with a score bore team and try and win with a solitary goal. If they let us play, we will murder them, given the form of our wingers.

Park and evra have to play as they will be ESP motivated to stop tevez given their friendship.

We will miss the infectious energy of Rooney but this team knows full well how to win without him so that does not bother me. But Wembley is a big pitch and so we'll need plenty of running power in midfield to nullify city's traditional area of midfield work rate .

-------------VDS-------------
O'Shea---Rio------Vidic---Evra
---------Carrick--Scholes-----
Valencia------Giggs-------Nani
------------Berbatov----------

I can see Fergie going with the team we had out against Fulham, with Carrick in for Gibson and Smalling in for Rio.

----------------------------Van Der Sar---------------------

--Rafael-------------Smalling---------Vidic------------Evra--

---------------Fletcher------Scholes-------Anderson---------

-----Valencia------------------------------------------Nani--

-----------------------------Berbatov-----------------------

Subs:Kuzczak, O Shea, Fabio, Ferdinand, Giggs, Carrick, Owen
Prediction:0-2 Berbs

Should we rest VDS and play PIG? The more kicking VDS does, the more he might aggravate that groin. The league and UCL and far more important than the FA Cup.

Code:
                  van der Sar

  Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra

         Carrick Scholes Anderson
Valencia Nani
                   Berbatov

SUBS:
Kuszczak, Smalling, O'Shea, Park, Giggs, Hernandez, Owen

This has to be the line up indeed unless Fergie decides to go with Gibson instead of Anderson which is highly unlikely and if Fletcher is fit then he should get a run!

VDS

Rafael
Smalling
Vidic
Evra

Carrick/Fletcher
Scholes
Anderson

Nani
Berbatov
Valencia

Really think carrick needs to be rested for this. He has been playing every game for weeks now. Anderson, scholes, park, Gibson should be more than capable of getting the job done

Tevez is injured.

We can put in nine or ten first team regulars completely rested last night.

Scholes, Brown, Rafael, Smalling, Fabio, Scholes, Anderson, Berbatov, Owen, PIG...Fletcher, if fit too.

We've actually found technology to clone him?

YES! Sir Alex will live on!

I hope this second Scholes is a 21 year old version of his much older brother..:)

You're right, though, there are plenty of high quality players in reserve who can come in and do a great job for us. It's unlikely Fletcher will be available, which is a shame because a Scholes - Fletcher - Anderson combo is arguably as strong as the midfield we put out last night. Still think we'll overcome City though - the confidence flowing through the squad is starting to look irresistible.

Depends which City turns up.

In recent form we'll hammer the cnuts. But form means nothing here.

Expect a good performance from the massives on Saturday..

He may of been hobbling at times but he made it through the game, if he's fit I'd play him without a doubt

van der Sar
Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Sholes Nani
Berbatov
Hernandez

Kuszczak; O'Shea, Brown/Fábio; Anderson, Giggs, Park; Owen

Might be unlucky for Gibson to not be there, he could replace Giggs or Park, though, as they put in a major effort against Chelsea. Gibson hasn't been great by any means, but he's done what has been required in the recent games he's started (allowing us to rest certain players, keeping it tight in midfield, not really making mistakes).

We might start Hernandez on the bench, but if we do, I don't think we'll start Owen. It'd be Anderson (or Gibson if he makes the squad). I can't see Evra getting rested like a lot of people seem to think. I'm of the opinion that his rests will come when we're in commanding positions and can bring on O'Shea / Fábio as subs. For instance, if we're 2-0 up over City after an hour, Evra could be replaced. Same at Newcastle next PL game. But I don't think we should go not starting him.

If Ferdinand is fit, he'll probably play. Feeling good at the moment, top form.

Hoping Owen and Anderson get on the pitch at some point, probably Brown too.

I really believe we won't make the same mistake we did two years ago.

Lost to Everton in FA Cup semi-final. At that time we were also Champions League semifinalists and leading in the league.

yeah. I can see them doing that.
hope we batter them though. if we get an early goal it might play on their minds and ruin them.

what's the latest on Tevez anyway?

i think away vs Newcastle is a bigger and harder game.

Bigger, certainly. Harder? Not so sure. But if you are implying we should rest a few in the City game with the Geordies in mind, I'd agree.

There are of course connotations associated with planning to 'rest' players for the cup semi final that are perhaps undeserved given who we can bring in.

Rooney is enforced, we know that so you have Berbatov, Scholes, Gibson, Owen, Smalling and Anderson to name but six. Neither one really, with the exception of perhaps Gibson, would have looked out of place in a 'first XI' list at any time in recent weeks or throughout most of the season.

I also think it might be a good idea to give our first choice right backs a break and stick Brown in there to give him a game and to allow both JOS and Rafael to further recover from recent knocks.

Resting players for a FA-Cup semi-final against Manchester City........come on guys, yeah the league is very important but it`s Newcastle away and not Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool away.
Anyway we must attack City coz their defence isn`t very good.

Team
Starting XI:
------------- Van Der Sar --------------------
O´Shea ------ Ferdinand ---------------- Vidic ------- Evra
Valencia ------ Scholes ---------------- Carrick ------ Nani
-------------- Hernandez ------------- Berbatov ----------

Bench: Kuszczak, Rafael, Smalling, Anderson, Park, Giggs, Owen

Predicition
2-1 (Hernandez, Nani - Dzeko)

No, it's very good now. From the start of this season they finally laid down an expensive Desso pitch. Why else do you think all the complaints have stopped?

TheFA.com - Wembley to lay Desso pitch

Didn't know that - I was worried about the pitch as well for our players.

Edit: The article says for the Desso pitch to be used till the Football League Final at Wembley - isn't that the Carling Cup? Either way hope we come away with the win and no serious injuries.

Championship playoff final I think.
