Manchester City vs. Manchester United

Moyes is a manager for a team that is always outside the big 4.
So United will be outside the big 4 this season.
But do not despair, United is helping English players gaining experience by fielding
Smalling, Ferdinand, Carrick, Cleverly, Young, Rooney and Welbeck.
Whereas City only got 2 - Hart and Milner.

what a complete load of crap.

Oh well ,a bad day at the office.
You could say that if it was a one off thing. Judging by the way we've lined up in every game this season though we're relying on a moment of brilliance from Rooney and van Persie to get us goals. If we've played our best lineup (nani, kagawa) and still lost, then we could put our hands up and say bad day at the office. It's bad when so many united fans could see us losing after seeing the lineup we put out though. Same thing against Liverpool.

I give feck all if we lose 5-0...at least start your best 11 to give us the best chance. Not this shit today. Only 1 sub and that only after we are 4 down. Pressure getting to Dave because these selections are clueless. Young needs to be kicked out of town...if Welbeck isnt playing up front he shouldn't play at all...he's wasted otherwise.

Carrick and Fellaini were far too static for the energy of city. Moyes should have realised we needed 3 in the centre

If you tell me a position in which we are better than City apart from one goalie (arguable) and obviously one striker..

I'm not really going to bother making a list for you, but do I need to remind you of the fact that we won the league last year? Quite emphatically even. City obvious have a very good squad, but saying that they're "simply better" based on today's game is silly. We were as poor as City were good today, so it's pointless to compare the teams right now. Let's see at the end of the season.

Nice poem, be better if it rhymed though!

I have to say I didn't see this coming, even when I saw Young in the team I thought the game would be fairly close. I think the reality that might be dawning on me is that SAF managed miracles with a fairly average team and without him we are really going to struggle to win the league. Granted, it would help if we actually played our best eleven instead of leaving Kagawa, Nani and Evans languishing on the bench. But I still don't see a mortal manager competing with two teams that have far more expensively assembled squads at their disposal.

I think huge question marks have appeeared today, why would we only play 2 in the middle of the pitch? why did it take 4 goals and 60 minutes before we realised that Danny Welbeck is much better suited to the left wing in games like these?

why did Valencia switch off completely for the first goal, leaving Smalling 2 on 1?

For that matter, Why is Moysey so reluctant to use Fabio? Surely the start of this season has shown that Rio is out of form and so Smalling is better suited at centre half?

And most important of all, How is Ashley Young still at this club? he refuses to take on his man, clearly dives which is giving him a reputation, can't pass. Seriously, is it just because he is English and left footed? I don't get it.

Isn't he right footed?

EDIT: Confirmed just above...

feck my ass! I just assumed we were sticking by him because he was a natrually left footed winger!

The point remains though, I would much rather see Adnan get a go there, or Welbeck for his workrate and the ability to offer a fast paced counter.

Leaving Nani on the right, With Valencia in reserve.

You wasted time bolderising.
Damn me and my flashy posting.

Oh, definitely, should be pointed out that Youngs foot was the only point I could pick from your post, and I'm usually pro Young....

But yeah, Adnan/Welbeck on one wing, Nani the other, plz.

I'd also like to see another attempt at 4-3-3, both times we've used it(early Wembley, late Wasteland) it's looked good. If Rooney could be convinced to play out wide, a front 3 of Rooney, van Persie and Nani..... and a 3 man midfield.

Away losses to Liverpool and City in the League, plus a home draw against Chelsea? It's fine really. No need to panic. As long as we keep beating every non top-6 side we face well win the league, maybe. That would give us 84 points. Beat every non top-6 team, and for every point dropped we need to take a point from the top 6.

No need to panic. Not yet.

To be honest, We have been beaten at the council house and Anfield many times, but it was the manner of both defeats that slightly concerns me.

At Anfield we lack any penetration, I know it was their cup final, but the lack of clear cut goal scoring oppurtunites we created was worrying. Today we got the tactics all wrong for me. Rooney up through the middle, Welbeck left, Nani right, Fellaini and Carrick offering cover and Clevs to drive forward is what we needed, In my opinion.

I am sure Moysey will learn from this, I'm just hoping he doesn't take too long, his away record against the bigger clubs is woeful.

Agree on the first part, but not on the second.

1) Nani though talented has never been a reliable performer. Kagawa was just above average against Bayern. Neither has had a run of games and expecting them to deliver on a big match is just hoping for miracles.
2) Neither of them has a history of tracking back. That's what we needed, what Valencia has...but could not deliver.

The fact is we were overrun in midfield. Fellaini/Carrick could not match up and no matter of whether you had Nani or Kagawa playing, we will still have been overrun where it matters.

I don't see anything wrong in the lineup. Just players failing to deliver. Maybe you can have a gripe at substitutions, but somehow no matter what Moyes did, I think it would have not affected to outcome. Simply put, too many players on the field were shite making tactics/formation immaterial.

Nani is not particularly defensively lazy though. He does track, not with the same intensity as Valencia but then Valencia is becoming seen as something of a specialist in that regard.

Agreed with that. Valencia is better than Nani in tracking back, but it's almost become a sort of justification for Valencia's selection (because he's offered next to nothing going forward, bar the odd match) that "he's miles better than Nani" at tracking back, which isn't the case.

Though yesterday, I think the tactics flung him. He was clearly instructed to cover inside when defending and City exploited the gaps out wide brilliantly IMO.
