Barry, Milner and co are short-ball players, interceptions won't be a substitute for pressure and tackling.

All of the midfield 3 that we've selected will be required to be flexible and fulfill different roles throughout the match. They're all more than capable of it and that's the beauty of having talented, intelligent midfielders.

The midfield roles aren't as rigidly assigned as you're implying.

Scholes is still capable of tracking back - you make him sound like a geriatric.
