Now that was a great idea...and it was mine.

Sometimes I surprise myself.

Anyways,

O'Shea if Fletch is injured.

the best team we have available, and i think smith and fletch are both out. the difficulty will now be to start from point 0 after the arse game

I know what confused me now. The boozer has a list of live matches...and they nearly all start at either 15:00 or 12:00 or 20:00......this is listed at 14:45, which I misread as 12:45 due to being afflicted with the drink on Tuesday night.

Complacency on my part really. I'm in the comfort zone.

I think United are going to score 4 goals minimum.

US Reds...match is on PPV at 10am EDT. FSW will show a replay at 11pm EDT on Tuesday.

I'd give David Jones a run out in this match. and give Heinze a rest.

please don't play bellion ffs, he'll spoil the football we're playing ATM, O'Shea to score??? a 30yard rocket of the bar and in???

BTW, let's hope we can avoid a repeat of what happened the game after we beat the arse

Time to push on, no hiccups this time around, last time we beat the arse we went on to lose to portsmouth. We may not catch chelsea but we have to continue and try and win every game from now on. 3-1 to us!!.

Smithy Ruled Out For Another Fortnight

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Alan Smith is still a fortnight away from first-team action, after attempts to rush the striker back led to a setback.

The fans' favourite will now be aiming to face Everton in the FA Cup on February 19.

Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher also misses out on this Saturday's home game with Birmingham, as does Mikael Silvestre - who starts a three-match ban for his midweek red card at Highbury.

3 match, isnt it 1 for a straight red acrd, I might be wrong but I think it is

Anywayz

Subs:
Howard

Miller
Klebs
Saha

Saha should play. He could do with a full game, and a goal or two. Maybe Rooney should be on the bench for this one. I would do that.

Phil should definitely be at least on the bench. Wouldn't be surprised if he played, and Keano was rested. Maybe too much of a risk without Fletch available. I wouldn't do that.

We can't start fecking about with the team now just because we're feeling confident. It's time to put a few teams to the sword and put pressure on Chelsea, get our goal difference up and all that.

If you want to experiment, I'd leave squaddies on the bench and bring them on if things are looking good, rather than starting them.

Basically agree with that.

But Fletch and Silvestre are out. The least 'fecklng about' options available are either Phil or O'Shea in for Fletch (O'Shea is probably most similar and deserves a place on form), and obviously Wes for Mickey.

After that, we could either leave as is or give Saha a game up front and have Roney on the bench, instead of vice versa. I would do that, but clearly whatever SAF goes with is fine by me...

I'd agree with the starting line-up - but even if Klebs was fit I'd have PN in place of him as sub.

Straight red is 3m ban - 2 yellows adding up to red in one game = 1m ban from memory.

I can also see a case for wanting to rest one of Rooney/Giggs/Ronaldo for some of the game with Saha coming in - under normal circs that'd be Giggs (age) or Ronnie (youth), with Rooney moving across - but Rooney played the whole game last night with lots of extra work during the 10 man section which might mean he'd get a break.

I'd play the suggested line-up to try to establish a lead - then look to rest players a bit - at least Keano and Scholes have the international night off! (etc.)

he has got to be played at some point, so why not against birmingham at home, when the team is full of confidence, he got to show if he has made any improvement.

Yes but the problem is that right now we are in a postion where we simply can not afford to loose another game so there is no room to experiment IMO. Every game has got to be 110% like the way we played against Arsenal. Lets not forget that while we beat the Arse, they are still hot on our tails. We can only hope and pray that both United and Arsenal beat Chelsea, and with the pressure of a few points in the gap between 1st and 2nd, Chelsea will loose another game to a smaller team.

Yes I must admit I do fear this, but fingers crossed it won't happen

Birmingham shouldn't be underestimated. They have a solid defence, and Pandiani could cause problems up front - actually very glad Wes is playing as he is much better in the air than Mickey, and Pandiani is a real threat there. I don't think Ferguson will dick about too much - doubt the likes of Bellion or Jones will near the team. Jones' chance will come - he needs to beef up.

I agree that Birmingham are more than capable of sorting us out if our eye is still on Tuesday night.....but I don't think it will be. Pandiani will certainly need looking after. We'll need to make a change with Wes coming in obviously and I'm not so enthusiastic about Fergie's propensity for dicking around with the selection being a factor in the lineup, but feck the youth teamers for a start (possible exeption of Spector as defensive cover on the bench)this is serious business now if we are going to make Chelsea work for the next few months.

Rio rallies resurgent Reds

RIO Ferdinand is convinced Manchester United will not suffer a Highbury hangover against Birmingham.

Ferdinand was part of the Red Devils side who completed a thrilling Barclays Premiership double over Arsenal on Tuesday, United recording a momentous 4-2 win which kept them in the title hunt while virtually ending the Gunners' hopes of retaining their championship crown.

No-one at Old Trafford needs any reminding that immediately after United's first success against Arsene Wenger's men - the one which ended Arsenal's record 49-game unbeaten Premiership run in October - they lost at Portsmouth.

"I think the mentality and confidence at the club is different compared to when we last beat Arsenal," said Ferdinand.

"We have won vital games already this season and then immediately dropped points against the lesser teams. We can't afford to do that again if we are going to win the championship.

"Consistency is the key and the team which is most consistent throughout the season will win the league.

"We still believe we have a chance of winning the league. There is no point worrying about Chelsea. All we can do is concentrate on our own results and make sure we are around to capitalise if they eventually slip up."

Tempestuous

Ferdinand admitted Tuesday's encounter was one of the best games he has ever been involved in.

Team-mate Gary Neville might have described the fractious first half as "horrible" but the 25-year-old defender loved it, insisting the brilliance of the football just about outweighed the tempestuous nature of the evening.

But though the match will linger long in the memory, Ferdinand does not believe his team-mates will lack any motivation when they jog out onto the Old Trafford pitch against Birmingham.

"We don't have to lift ourselves," he said.

"If playing in front of 67,000 fans at Old Trafford is not a big enough spur I don't know what is.

"Tuesday night was a fantastic occasion. The atmosphere was super-charged and the amount of hype beforehand was enormous. In the end I think the football outshone the bad points.

"Without doubt it was one of the best games I have ever been involved in, but while the result and the performance should give us confidence, we have to recognise the game has gone now.

"All I want to do is get out there in a United shirt again tomorrow and try to win another game."

Keane

Saha
Fortune
Bellion

Would be ideal to play Keane, but we need to rest him now and again, and O'Shea is playing well at the moment.

Fletcher should be dropped for either O'Shea or Fortune in my opinion. I think it is shameful almost that O'Shea looks more likely to score a goal for us than Fletch when playing in the same position. I guess everyone will tell me i am being too harsh etc, and tell me that Fletch has been great, i a just not so impressed, i fell he does not offer much at all and would rather a fully fit Kleberson even, as he is a great, technical passing player with a good strike on him.

Fletcher is injured, why some people are still putting him in the team.

Manchester United striker Alan Smith is out for another fortnight as he bids to recovery from an ankle injury.

Mikael Silvestre (suspended) is set to be replaced by Wes Brown, while Darren Fletcher (hamstring) is also ruled out.

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce may hand a first start to Mehdi Nafti, as Stephen Clemence's partner is expecting a baby.

Emile Heskey (achilles), Stan Lazaridis (thigh), Darren Anderton (groin), Salif Diao (calf) and Muzzy Izzet (knee) are out and Robbie Blake (calf) is a doubt.

What is it with you and Kleberson? He's been rubbish since day one.....I'm not bothered about this Brazilian World Cup winner that we are under-using, he's been a misfit since day one, and hardly ever even in the country. He's a cast iron gonner. Fletcher spends rather a lot of time in Manchester, goes to training everyday, and goes out and looks like he wants to play for United - that's worth 50 Klebersons mate. 'A great technical passing player'?.....could have done with him on Tuesday night, eh?

Your comment about it being 'shameful' that John O'Shea is more likely to get a goal than Fletcher, is both bizarre in it's situation and childish in its conclusion.

Good luck with the Kleberson thing.
