O'Shea (Btw when is Rafa & Brown back ?)
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Ronaldo
Fletcher
Scholes
Park

Rooney
Tevez

If Rio's fit...

VDS

O'Shea - Rio - Vidic - Evra

Carrick - Scholes - Fletch

Ronaldo - Rooney - Park

Tevez looked absolutely shattered. Bring him on if we need a late goal.

Can't believe it's in 48 hours time. This is what we live for as football fans, the games coming thick and fast. That late winner will put a spring in our players step as they get on the plane to Portugal.

Brilliant--now let's channel this momentum into another good result.

van der Sar
O'Shea - Ferdinand/Evans - Vidic - Evra
Fletcher - Carrick - Scholes
Ronaldo - Rooney - Park

A nice 2-0 win would do me fine; a nice, comfortable 2-0 win do me even better so SAF can rest Ronaldo, Carrick, Fletcher and Evra for the Sunderland match. Hopefully I'll have recovered from today's match by then so I can watch.

Oh, and what's all this talk of getting on a plane to Portugal?

I like this. If we do go 4-4-2...I would like someone who is a finisher to play off Rooney..like Macheda. I know I know, but I am not living into the hype or juts cause he scored one goal. Tevez looks tired and both Rooney and Tevez like to play off someone....so if they play together...no one will be in the box UNLESS Sir Alex lets Ronaldo run into the center.

Theres no way in hell that Tevez will play against Porto. He'll be rested and rightfully so, he deserves the rest.

I think NWOntario has the lineup just right. Thats exactly the team i'd play, Was Macheda given a champions league number btw?

Tevez/Giggs

Evra looks knackered. Vidic will be back though, and supposedly Rio will be fit. I think we need to try Evans at LB (he's played there for his country). Neville won't play again so soon.

VDS
O'Shea Rio Vidic Evans
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Park

3-0. Macheda hatrick.

Why the feck is this game only 2 days after Villa?

Foster; Neville, Rio; Gibson, Nani; Macheda, Tevez

2-0 Vida and Rooney

Win win win

Firstly, I think we need to play two strikers up front...we need to play attacking football and play to win as we are at home. I would go with Rooney-tevez, its a proven formula along with Ronaldo. Macheda was good, but i think it is a little silly to place him in the starting 11, he will go to the bench as Tevez should be back and rested by tuesday. The problem for Tevez wasn't the traveling but the time difference, he clearly hadn't adapted back and was tired. Considering everything that he has been through in the last week I felt he put in a good performance, saving us in defence a few times and adding to the attack.

Why the feck is this game only 2 days after Villa?

Mainly because SAF opted for an extra day's rest after the internationals. Presumably the thought was he would have Tevez and Anderson back with an extra day to recuperate along with everyone else. But seeing as Macheda was ample cover today, in addition to Wellbeck it sure would be great to see them make a consistent impact when called upon in future. The future is bright.

The bright side is, Vidic, Rooney and Scholesy will be fresh and raring to go.

Provided Berbatov is fit, of course (I'm probably being optimistic here). If not, I'd probably go with Tévez from the start with Macheda on the bench since his confidence must be as high as it can get. The rest of the team pretty much picks itself due to freshness and experience. If Anderson isn't fit enough for the bench, Giggs might make it, but I can't see him playing two games in such a short space of time. Welbeck or Macheda might get a chance to go on the bench over those if either can't make it (Anderson or Giggs) as I can't think of another fully fit or experienced midfielder to put there instead.

I think we'll win 2 or 3-0.

Edit: Put in Tévez for Berbatov and Macheda on the bench.

Damn, I heard people saying he'd be fit for Villa or Porto and others saying Sunderland. I guess it was the latter...

Sadly I dont think Anderson will be ready for it either, but here;s to hoping in his case

Macheda for starting XI

He'll make the bench I'm confident of that. We'll probably see him last 20 minutes depending on the score. I'd deffo give him a run out if we were 2nil up at that time *fingers crossed*

Apparantly he is going to miss both Porto legs and the sunderland match atleast. In some ways it may do us a favour and give us some stability upfront, too much changing around can cause havok with peoples form. These 3 games will be an excellant time for Rooney-Tevez to strike up a partnership, get some goals and get some confidence as we are heading into the last part of the season!

O Shea - Vidic - Evans - Evra
Ronaldo - Carrick - Scholes - Nani
------Rooney ----- Tevez ------

Gotta be an attacking line up, get the 6 goals so we can take the kids to Porto.

That would be a very, very bad idea. Porto aren't going to be a cakewalk. This is the champions league ffs, may I point you to our recent form. No matches are easy this point in the season.

I get the feeling we will have almost a completely different team than the one that played yesterday. Somehow i dont think Neville, Evra, Oshea, Tevez, Giggs, Nani and even Ronaldo will play on Tuesday - they may be on the bench but bar Ronaldo and posibility Evra i cant see the rest starting, we have a lot of games coming up and playing a day after you had a tiring game like Villa isnt really ideal. Which means we would have a mix of experience and youth, my line up:

VDS
Rafael Rio Vidic Fabio
?Ronaldo? Scholes Fletcher/Carrick Park
Rooney ?Welbeck?

I think Scholes is dead on to play along with either Carrick or Fletcher, if Rios injuried then bring Evans in (is Wes back yet?). Ronaldo is a maybe because he played the full 90 and SAF may have him on the bench just in case, perhaps even Welbeck with Rooney - With Berba out and Tevez literally running himself into the ground yesterday with a great solo lone man performance we may have to look to Welbeck or Kiko to lead the line

Is Macheda even in our CL squad submit ?

Yes he is, as is Davide Petrucci (no.43) though he is out with a groin injury. I'm not sure what will happen to Macheda now, he's been picked in the Italy U19s squad for a match against Ukraine in Kiev on Wednesday so it's all up in the air a bit.

feck, just remembered that Berbs is still injured. He is perfectly suited for Champions league football:(

Looking forward to this but i hope all the drama and work from yesterday doesnt affect us too much.

My heart says we should start Macheda (who was brilliant even before his goal yesterday!!) but my head says we shouldn't.

Either way i'll be happy.

2-0 United.
