Manchester United vs. Liverpool

Cant wait. Will probably be travelling up to the game late Saturday night, staying over and then going to the game. And my throat is clearing so should be singing again until its fricked up again.

Quite a few of them on RAWK are confident of turning us over in this one.

Wow, a home win against the mighty Pompey really does change peoples thoughts. If Liverpool had dropped points in that match on Monday, they'd all be saying there's no way they'd beat us. But putting four goals past the bottom team has reignited their faith.

I've a bad feeling about this. And with Chelsea playing Balckburn, we can't afford to let them pull ahead again.

I actually felt sorry for the Pompey fans during that game. After the first goal they just gave up, it was almost embarrasing to watch. An in-form Liverpool would have scored about 10.

Ewood Park is not the easiest place to visit, I reckon Blackburn actually have a chance of getting something out of this.

Sun (yeah I know) reporting Giggs will be a surprise starter.

Let me guess was it...

Van der Sar
Rafael
Vidic
Ferdinand
Evra
Fletcher
Giggs
Park
Nani
Rooney
Valencia

Subs:
Foster
Evans
Brown
O'Shea
Hargreaves
Anderson
Owen

dippers going into the game in a wee bit of form huh?

They crushed the mighty Portsmouth and got through to the quarter finals of the holy grail that is the Europa League.

We've got so much in our favour in this match i feel.

- Rooney is on fire
- The back four look solid, settled and comfortable
- Resurgence of form from Park is key in the big games.
- Nani and Valencia on the wings can work
- Berbatov has been showing signs of improvement of late.
- Were at home
- Hargreaves is back

And last but not least. We'll want revenge for what happened last season.
Lets thump those filthy scousers back to the bins.

Last time they went into the Anfield game in the worst possible form. Might not be a bad thing this.

Good point, I mean United were very comfortable going into the game and under less pressure.

Defense may be stable, Rooney might be on form ... but United had that and Ronaldo on form also and it wasn't any use against Pool at Old Trafford.

I'm hoping the extra rest will be to our huge advantage, plenty of time to rest and prepare thoroughly for the game.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Vidic is going to score pretty soon, let's hope it's this one

its easy to forget that last time they came to old trafford the whole world was going on about how invincible we looked. ignoring the fact that we were actually playing very poorly and looked anything but impressive against inter at OT a few days earlier. We had a few results in a row where you could only say we were blessed to get away with it. The liverpool game was a loss waiting to happen.

This time around we have a team on form and a lot of individuals performing very well. They are playing a very different side to the one they met last time at OT. Cant see anything but a United win to be honest

not so. we were actually getting results while playing very poorly last time liverpool were in town. the result that day was the kick up the arse that spurred us on at a time when we were looking a little too sure of ourselves

the same ones who go "next season.............." :smirk:

just hope we can finish with 11 men on the pitch this time

I hope Vidic doesnt get isolated with Bruno then. I bet both teams crowd the midfield in this one. I can see this being a dour one..and hopefully Rooney will get one or two to clinch it. I don't know how Fergie will explain losing 4 on the bounce to FSW if we feck up!

I meant relatively speaking!

i think we will batter them but it might not show up in the score. if we score early i think we will cruise but United never seem to make it easy for the supporters.

we need to win , against a good side , who are full strength
its not going to be easy

From the press conference.

First - SAF didn't look well, he's caught a wee sniffle it seems. Hope he is okay enough to have a shout at Webb on Sunday (and doesn't need to do it against the players at half time cause we'll have done so brilliantly).

Asked about last season at OT being a one off and if it comes into play. Answer was yes, it was a one off, it was a blip, we went on to win the league, lack of concentration by the team and it definitely won't happen again, basically guaranteed it.

Evans/Rafa are back in training, Giggs is looking good and fresh.

On the "rant" - he wasn't ranting at all. He was asked about it and he was so calm about it, just said didn't expect anything to happen and the dysfunctional comments etc but, the way he said it, seemed like no anger behind it at all. Just maybe a bit of mocking.

Pics from training

I always like taking a look and using my Jedi mind powers to will them on to victory.

Edit: Check one of the pics of Rio being lifted - not sure if that is Valencia, thought it was Evra at first but, Evra's got that blue vest in other pics.

Also, Scholes is training so should be okay after pulling out last week.

Any news on Scholes after he pulled out of the last game?

He's training (in the pics) and SAF didn't say anything about him not being available.

Finally this season it's going to be one hell of a headache.

Imagine trying to pick from Valencia, Park, Nani, Giggs, Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes to fill 5 slots (if we are going 1 striker).

Then you've got the Berbatov playing well dilemma.

Whatever the line up - some are going to be displeased with the team selected.

I hope we actually turn up for this one.

Agreed - it was hard to imagine ever happening but, this season at Analfield, we just didn't. But, if we can't turn up for the game this time with everything that it means - especially with the title on the line - we don't deserve to be champions.

I'm slightly concerned about this fixture, the Scoucers always raise their game against us.

On paper we should stuff 'em, especially at home, but we can't forget this is the first part of their Treble

1. Beat United home & away
2. Qualify for the CL
3. Europa Cup
