Seems the majority of people on here think we're gonna win. Shame I and a few others don't share your optimism.
Felt we were lucky to take all 3 points off Celtic, Arsenal were (as much as it pains me to say it) the worthy winners that day, Reading were perhaps unlucky not to get all 3 points and Benfica can feel aggrieved to have got bugger all on Tuesday.
Apart from the Fulham game at the start of the season when I remember turning to the old dears next to me in the West Stand and expressing surprise at how well we'd played, I've seen performances getting worse and worse.
We seem to show very little movement up front presenting few if any options for our midfielders who, at best, pass sideways or backwards.
Rooney's lack of match experience since his foot injury is very clearly evident and far from improving, I thought I saw his worst game for United on Tuesday night. He seemed unable to even control a simple pass to him and he barely managed a successful pass to a team mate all night. Never has someone with such ability looked so second rate.
So I'm less confident of the desired result on Sunday. Giggsy's injury came at a very bad time both for him and us. And with no replacement, a midfield lacking cohesion and understanding and a very indifferent Rooney, I'm hoping Saha can pull off another masterful goal or two to win us the 3 points, otherwise the Geordies will have the points.

We will win. Newcastle are pretty shite. It doesnt take a perfect display to beat them and even if we are not on form i wont change my opinion. 2 or 3 nil sounds quite realistic to me.
Guy I know who's a barcode hasn't missed their match at Old Trafford for the last 26 years, he's never seen them beat us. He's on holiday this weekend and misses the match...it's nailed on we're gonna' lose.

Edwin van der Sar insists United need to rediscover the art of beating the Premiership's less-fancied teams, starting on Sunday.
The Reds' failure to match Chelsea's charge to the Premiership title last season came about largely through a failure to do just that.
And, following last week's draw at promoted Reading, this weekend's clash with Newcastle has taken on extra significance as the Reds aim to stay in touch with the champions.
"Reading was the kind of game we needed to win," said van der Sar.
"It was matches like that which cost us last year. We believe we have matured, so the focus is now on Newcastle and ensuring the same thing does not happen again."
Van der Sar appreciates the task will be aided by the return of Gabriel Heinze, who caught the eye against Benfica in only his second game back from injury.
"Gaby is a quality player," he said. "He came back into the team against Reading last week and then did really well against Benfica.
"He has been injured for a long time but we are all hoping he can stay fit now because he is such a huge asset to the team."

Me too. Parker has been extremely impressive so far - he's been the only defensive strength at Newcastle + he's been great going forward.
He would be perfect for our current squad.
Regarding Duff. He wouldn't be a starter if Giggs was fit, but he would still make a brilliant backup.

John O'Shea says United are determined to maintain their unbeaten record against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday and get their league campaign back on track.
The Toon Army have never won a Premiership game on United's home patch and go in to Sunday's trip on the back of three league defeats already this season.
United meanwhile have taken just one point out of a possible six from their last two matches against Arsenal and Reading.
Despite only trailing Chelsea by two points, O'Shea insists United are determined not to let Jose Mourinho's side get too far ahead and are aiming to get back to winning ways on Sunday.
"The Arsenal result was a good wake-up call for us," he tells United Review ahead of the game. We’d been comfortable and played well in the four league games leading up to the match and we thought we could go out against Arsenal and do the same.
"But against the teams at the higher end of the league you really have to be focused and perhaps we weren’t as focused as we have been in years gone by.
"We improved our home form last season but if we’re going to be champions we’ll have to improve it again this season," added O'Shea. "It’s certainly achievable and that’s what we’re all striving for because we don't want to be in the position when we're having to do the chasing again.
"Sunday’s game is another one of those matches we’re expected to win and we need to do that."
Giuseppe Rossi's loan to Newcastle was the right career move for the player, according to assistant manager Carlos Queiroz.
The young Italian striker joined the Magpies on a four-month loan at the end of August, but is yet to start a match and has made only three substitute appearances.
Carlos said: "Of course with loan players it is to give them more opportunities to play. And the more they play, the more they’re rewarded. If they don’t play as much as we would expect it’s not good.
"The probabilities of having opportunities here were less than with other clubs, which is why we created this opportunity for him. We have players like Alan, Ole, Wayne, Cristiano and Louis coming in with experience, so I think going to Newcastle was the right decision to create more opportunities to play.
"We cannot dictate this player plays so many games. But this level of football is not a gift. Nothing comes easy. We cannot create a false environment for talents. They need to learn what it’s about to fight for a position in a team and to rebound from defeat.
The Portuguese coach admits Rossi needs to make the breakthrough into Glenn Roeder's side through his own exertions, not simply because he has come from United.
He said: "They should play because they deserve to play because the team needs them to play, not just because the player has a big name and comes from a certain club.
"Players need to be talented, mentally tough, ready to fight on a daily basis for a position. It is part of the progression and learning process of those players to be in those difficult environments.
"I always used to say that it’s like somebody in the police. In the training facilities to shoot it is one thing, when you are in front of the bandits it’s a different story.
"So the talents need to cross that line and leave a protecting environment. If they don’t then they’ll never learn how difficult it is and how important it is to fight for a position in the team."

why are so many people saying parker and duff should be in our midfield? are you all mad? parker is an average premiership midfielder and damien duff has been overrated since day1.
