Once again, the rookie kid is our best player by miles, his ability, awareness and confidence is miles ahead of the rest.
Unhappy to see my prediction of us struggling if we went for a 4-4-2 to be realized. The wingers are left all alone with no easy option as our 2 strikers just stays in the box. Also the midfield gets 0 help in the build-up.

We need a few people prepared to roll their sleeves up. I don't fancy Nani in a game like this. RVP looks fecked, or not arsed.
Jones and Januzaj doing well. We don't have the players to feed the strikers and wingers though. Cleverley must step up.
Danny on for RVP after about an hour maybe. It isn't ideal seeing as one is only marginally better off than the other in terms of fitness but we can only play the cards we have.

I hate watching us close down. The top teams close dowb in packd, anticipating where the man with the ball is going to play it and closing his options down. What we do is give him as much time to pick a pass, allow the reciever to control the ball then 1 guy goes and stands in front of him. Just fecking dreadful lazy defending.
Don't like the formation. Van Persie isn't a #10 at all.

Somehow I agree.The most dangerous moments came from Adnan, RVP understandably rusty. Nani not enough on the ball, I see better effort and fighting spirit than in previous games today but it's sad to see that's it's not enough. The short passing has been rubbish and players keep misplacing easy ones it's frustrating.
Clev and Jones struggle badly in the middle especially when they are supposed to play the ball out of defence. They really aren't good enoug on the ball.

We've been better than Newcastle and should have had a penalty so in the main I'm pleased by that first half. If we can keep going we will score and we will win.
The distribution out of defence is terrible however. Neither Vidic or Evans really look like they want the ball and they have a tendency to play the easiest pass possible. Newcastle look far more at home playing out from the back when Hernandez is hustling their back line than we do when Remy's chasing down ours. Its forced us to go long when it probably shouldn't have.

we've been a soft team defensively for many years. it was my only problem with SAF.
Agreed, can afford to carry a few players or forgive them for a lack of commitment when it's going well but not when we're in this situation.
Our players are always too far away from each other, we have to change to a more compact style.
The delivery from the wings has been improved. But i'm not too happy with our movement and speed. We've lacked in some urgency and Newcastle have dealt pretty well with our attacks so far. A bit too tentative for me.
