I hate watching us close down. The top teams close dowb in packd, anticipating where the man with the ball is going to play it and closing his options down. What we do is give him as much time to pick a pass, allow the reciever to control the ball then 1 guy goes and stands in front of him. Just fecking dreadful lazy defending.

Agree, Been saying that for a while; we just don't seem to have have more than on player at a time closing down or putting pressure

I don't think it's our wingers, Nani has been decent attacking and Januzaj has been fantastic, it's our lack of control of the game that's the worry.

Poor lineup and tactics - Jones plays deep but hes not capable enough to take ball of the defendes and bring it out so Cleverley drops deep. This then leaves too much room between the central midfielders and strikers.

The wideman tuck in so it narrows our play. RVP is better as the lone front man rather than in the hole.

This is Moyes simpleton tactic its 442 or bust - we must play 442 that's all he knows.

No we don't. That is what cost us last game with him and Hernandez making up the spine. Hernandez is going to play the full 90, Van Persie maybe another 20. If Giggs comes on and we have him in a midfield two wither either Clev or Jones they will overrun us. We are just fine at the minute, maybe Welbz for Van (after another 15/20) and put Adnan in the no.10.

In years gone by the team would bounce straight back after a poor result/performance. Under Moyes it's been one mediocre performance after another.

The way Nani delays releasing the ball is a peeve of mine. It's why so many of his passes or crosses are intercepted because he delays, allows the optimum moment to pass and by the time he does release the ball an opposition defender has either made up ground or covered the likely destination.

That moment when Januzaj on the left whipped the ball in after a short run forward. Nani would not have done that. He'd have had to take five, six, seven more touches, get closed down and chances are the chance would have gone. Nani could be a top drawer player if he ever allowed himself to play on instinct instead he looks like he overthinks everything and often isn't terribly effective as a result

We need to get Januzaj central. Either RVP or Hernandez off, Zaha or Valencia out wide, and Adnan at number 10 so he's involved more. It'll also give Tiote something to think about with Januzaj there and linking up, as at the moment he has free reign to press as RVP doesn't drop in like Rooney does.

Januzaj's inventiveness and sharpness on the ball along with Hernandez movement have been the bright sparks in that half. RvP looks at 50% at best and Nani looks a bit lost a times. Midfield is competing ok but offers nothing on the ball as usual.

Our team really screams out for a class CM. Jones for all his running around and fighting has no clue how to open up teams from the centre. Clev the same.
They are the problem so far. Our wings have been good and also Hernandez and RvP did a job.

Honestly this is exactly like the Spurs and Everton games. We've done OK and huffed and puffed but we just don't have a creative enough midfield to do anything in the final 3rd

Its not going to be solved until we solve the midfield so there's no point getting upset.

I can accept that maybe we lack a little bit of quality, but the lack of urgency by a good number of players out there is shameful and is in complete contrast to when we played Arsenal where everyone to a man worked their bollocks off. Januzaj, Jones and Hernandez aside, players are looking like they'd rather not be out there, and Van Persie is clearly not fit, which is a bit of a problem considering he's playing as the link man which requires quite a lot of fecking movement to find space.
