Wouldn't rest Rooney straight after he scored a goal ... we had the chance to rest him and we didn't. Would be silly to do it now.

Could be a blessing in disguise that our next game is in the FA Cup i see the team being

GK: VdS

RB: Neville
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Henzie

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Scholes
CM: O'Shea
LM: Park

CF: Saha
CF: Solskjaer

Carrick will defently play, because he missed nearly 3 games(Wigan, Villa and only played 10 min vs Newcastle) in the christmas period and there is no need for him to rest.
Scholes might be given a rest because we have 3 matches in 8 days coming up.

Can't wait for this game! Got my tickets through the post yesterday for me and my brother. Anyone else going to this one?

Chances are Rooney will be rested as some one pointed out in a different thread he is one booking away from suspension and if he is booked on Sat he misses Spurs away....

Van der Saar

Neville
Ferdinand
Vidic
Heinze

Fletcher
Carrick
Scholes
Giggs

Rooney
Saha

Subs:

Kusczak
Brown
O'Shea
Ronaldo
Solskjaer

3-1 - Saha, Rooney and Solskjaer.

(Andy Cole to score against us!)

Code:
                  Kuszczak

Brown Rio Vidic Heinze

Park Fletch Carrick Giggsy

               Rooney Saha
Sub: VDS, O'Shea, Evra, Scholes, Ole

Pompey are not easy. 1-0 with Park on the scoresheet.

Let the lad Rooney have a break. We should be fine with Saha and Larsson, but I think Ole will start with Larsson for this one. Saha needs a game too so I would fancy bringing him on for Ole in the last 20 mins permitting how things go.

hope Fergie rotate Rooney, Larsson, Saha and Ole against Pompey and Watford.
Hope for Solskjaer-Larsson/Saha against Pompey and Larsson/Saha-Rooney against Watford. Rooney should rest on saturday because if he get one yellow card he will miss the Spurs game.

I say rest Rooney vs. Watford, or better yet, have him come on vs. Watford for the last 20 minutes maybe? See how he feels. We can beat Watford with Saha/Ole, and then use Rooney/Larsson for Spurs. Whatever Fergie does, Saha needs at least a good 70 minutes me thinks.

PIG

Brown Rio Vidic Evra

Park Carrick Giggs Ronaldo

Saha Rooney

Subs: VDS, O'Shea, Scholes, Ole, Larsson

Please no Sly :nervous:

This is not carling cup. This is the FA-Cup and we will play a strong team I think, Fergie might rest two or three players.
Kuszczak will probably play.

Kuszczak
G.Neville Ferdinand Vidic Heinze
Ronaldo Fletcher Carrick Park
Larsson Saha

Subs; VDS - Giggs - Scholes - Evra - Rooney/Ole

I find it hard to believe that Gary Neville could score even in a computer game.

Line-up for this weekend should be:

--------------Kuszczak
Simpson----Rio-----Vidic------Heinze
Ronaldo----Carrick----Fletcher-----Park
------------Saha----Solskjaer
SUBS: VDS, Larsson, Rooney, O'Shea, Brown

What team do you think Fergie will play? We have 3 games in 8 days so do you think he will rest a few players for this game?
But I know that Fergie really loves the FA-Cup so I don't think it will be more than maybe two or three players rested max.

PIG

3-0
Scholes, Rooney, Saha

Would like to see

--------------------Kuszczak-------------------

--Neville-------Vidic-----Brown---------Silvestre--

--Park-------Fletcher----Carrick--------Giggs--

-----------------Saha---Dong??-----------------

Subs: Rooney, Larsson, Scholes, Rio (think he needs a rest), VDS

However, I am not sure if the back 4 would be strong enough, and whether or not Rooney should start now that he has just broke his scoring problem!
Also don't know if Dong has had enough training with our squad to understand the movement and take the pace.

MU Website:

ted may have Premiership title aspirations and hopes of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League, but Sir Alex Ferguson is taking the FA Cup very seriously.

The Reds entertain Portsmouth at Old Trafford on Saturday evening in a domestic cup competition the Reds boss describes as "the best in the world. He should have a fully fit squad to select from, but may make one or two changes from the team that lost to Arsenal on Sunday.

"Everyone is fit," reported the boss at his weekly press conference. "There were one or two niggles in training on Thursday but hopefully they will be OK. There won't be many changes, but possibly one or two."

United want to get back to winning ways after losing to Arsenal in the last minute. Sir Alex says the fans could have a big part to play. "The FA Cup is a great tournament and definitely the best domestic cup competition in the world. There is a great romance about it," he said.

"We're going to approach it in the same way as we did the last tie against Aston Villa. It should be a great atmosphere. The fans always have a part to play. When they're right for it, there is a tremendous difference in the performance on the field."

But, under the guidance of Harry Redknapp, Pompey will be no pushovers according to the Reds boss. "Harry's done a fantastic job there. He rescued them from oblivion last season. They were down and out until he came there and kept them up. He's brought in a lot of experienced players like James, Campbell, Cole and Kanu.

"That's fantastic experience to bring to your club. They've been the bedrock of their performances. Those four players have given Portsmouth a big-time feel."

Are you laughing at the fact that I said I would like to see im in the squad (even though I said I didn't think he would be good enough yet) or his name?

Ronaldo-Carrick-Fletcher-Giggs

Saha-Solskjær

Bench: Somebody else

Maybe there's a bit more than two changes, but hope we rest some players here instead of resting the whole team against Watford as we'll probably do with Spurs coming up.

3-0 United (I don't know if we can keep a clean sheet these days but let's hope)

I'm hoping we play our best team. The FA cup should be treated with just as much respect as the league, it would be a piss take if we went out this early.

I agree about fielding a strong side. The FA Cup is holy, and we are of course going for the treble this year.

Seem like Ronaldo is given a week off and won't be playing. :(

Are we taking Pompey for granted? :nervous:

I am at the airport now, and I am going to miss out on this match, but I have to wish the boys good luck. I also wanted to take some time off my vacation to tell Jacob he's a complete idiot. He won't even read this thread since he's only interesed in computer games. Anyway I believe Giggs shouldn't be playing this game, mainly because he was not good against arsenal. I hope Rooney can give us the winning goal. This would have been a harder game a few months ago. The way Portsmouth is looking now we should be able to take them down quite comfortably, like last time :p Hope Brown gets to play as well. The lad has been very patient.

my prediction is 3-1 for us with Rooney and Scholes on the scoresheet

Maybe SAF will play Fletcher on the right with Solskjaer-Saha upfront. I've heard that Larsson will probably be rested today according to Fergie.

Propably gaffer will give Ronaldo, Ferdinand or Scholes a rest before important Premiership matches. :)
