Manchester United vs Queens Park Rangers

Almost bizarre to think QPR and Norwich were in the Top Five of the initial Premier League season ahead of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and City.

Hm, yeah.

I can vividly rememebr a particualr Cantona equaliser in one of our matches agaisnt them a couple of seasons intot he Premiership era.

Sir Alex set to ring changes

Sir Alex Ferguson will continue his policy of youth alongside older, more experienced heads when the Reds take on Queens Park Rangers in the Carling Cup fourth round at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

After handing out four first United starts and three debuts outright in the 3-1 third round win over Middlesbrough, the Reds boss is set for a similar approach as he rings the changes after Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal.

Sir Alex says: “The younger ones who will play will be Jonny Evans, Rodrigo Possebon, Rafael, Darron Gibson, Danny Welbeck – who is back playing now in the Reserves after overcoming injury – and possibly Manucho. The rest of the team will be filled by the first team squad.”

It’s a comeback to first-team action for Brazilian midfielder Possebon, who suffered a nasty injury in the last round after a crunching tackle from Emanuel Pogatetz. Initial fears of a broken leg or damaged knee ligaments thankfully did not materialise, and it will be a welcome return to the Old Trafford stage for the creative 19-year-old midfielder.

“There’s absolutely no problem with the boy now,” added the boss. “We did worry at the time, but fortunately he was OK.”

However, there’s still not a chance for United fans to Fabio, twin brother of Rafael, who hit a wonderful volley against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend. Fabio, who plays on the left side of defence had an operation on his shoulder recently and won’t recover in time to play.

This could be a good chance for Tevez to stake a claim for a first team spot. Score a few goals and put in a good performance and he would have to play against Stoke.

Put in the majority of youngsters and give our squad players a chance to start.

A few teams in this thread have Giggs on the wing. His time as a winger is finished, Fergie said much the same recently I think

does it mean he is going to be back soon but not soon enough for tomorrows match or just means he is injured with no idea on when he'll be available ..

i really want to see him play .. even 5 minutes and videos/clips ?? other than the goal he scored .. that was just a shot , not him with the ball at his feet

Fairly limited on options though. Ronaldo needs a rest, Park is probably exhausted. If Park is fit enough to play then take Giggs out and replace him with Park (obviousally switching positions with Nani).

Foster
Fabio/O'Shea
Evans
Rio (needs a game to sort himself out)
Rafael
Carrick
Possebon
Nani
Park
Tevez
Manucho

i have a feeling gibson might start on the right and nani on the left .. or park if nani will play against stoke

fletch/carrick/anderson + possebon in the middle ..
gibsons best chance of starting will be on the right

Hope to Rafael show his worth again, after the goal against arsenal. Really hoping that he Could be the next big thing. Tevez plays and gets either a few goals or assists will be good.

Probably the latter. His op wasn't all that recently, 2 months ago or so. Since then there has been no word from anyone at the club. Don't think anyone knows when he'll be back.

:D

The youngsters will cope and it will be good to see more of Gibson, Welbeck and possibly Manucho.

Shame about Fabio though.

Their away form in the Championsip is bad.

W: 1
D: 3
L: 4

GF: 2
GA: 8

Should be a walk in the park even for our talented youngsters.

Personally, I want to see more of Manucho, Evans, Rafael and Possebon playing together. I think it's a good mix.

Yeah, a stream (especially a Ustream) would be great.

Rio, Evra, Vidic not in the group for the match at all.
I guess we'll see Rafel - Evans - O'Shea - Cleverely in the back.

Should be good enough, but I'm a bit worried, probably mostly because I can't find a single sat channel showing it

sure about both rio and vidic
???

evans has this article on manutd.com where he talks about the reserve players and names chester .. he's a central defender too .. then there is eckersley who is a full back ..

not sure how that defense would do tbh ..

edit: apparently eckersley isnt the squad either..
chester might get a game

QPR will provide a good test. Looking forward to this. Anytime Rafael, Foster, Evans or Welbeck are on the pitch I'm excited to see how they will do.

Jacob's prediction

Line-up:

---------------------Foster-------------------
Rafael--------Evans--------Vidic-------O'Shea
Park-------Possebon-----Anderson------Nani
--------------Tevez-------Manucho-----------

Score: Manchester United 2 - 0 QPR

Goals: Anderson, Manucho

Player to watch: Possebon

I'm sure there will pop up one before kickoff, but as it seems, myp2p don't have one.

It's funny how almost everyone predict Foster to be playing, when Fergie said that the one not playing Celtic would play QPR.

I didn't remember that quote from him.

If I was Fergie I'd just settle on Foster and make him number 1. VDS has jumped the shark/nuked the fridge, and Kuzy is never going to be good enough to be our main keeper.

Just keep Foster in there. He's the future for us now.

This game and the Stoke game would be a good bedding in period for him. We can't afford to rotate at goalkeeper with all the other defensive uncertainty we are showing.

IMO, "kuzy" has been considerably more impressive than Foster, in his last few appearances for United.

What the feck is MUTV good for if they can't even get the rights for a carling cup game not broadcasted on television anywhere? fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.
