Manchester United vs Real Madrid

Anyway, forgetting all of the nutters on here for a second, a real chance for Nani here. Never forgotten that time after Ronaldo left us and he tried to claim he could fill the void. Was a crazy statement to make from him, but really tonight could be make or break for the guy. First time he's up against Ronaldo and really he's got a point to prove here. Going to be really interesting to see what Nani we see tonight, just really got a feeling he's going to have a night we'll remember for quite some time. I could be laughably wrong in fairness, but we'll see.

This is incredibly bizarre.

First thought was, he must be injured, have a niggle.
Then saw he's on the bench.

Second thought, was that he must be going with Kagawa in the centre instead.
Also wrong.

With all the talk from Fergie of how quality Kagawa will be next year, this is starting to feel a bit like Rooney could well be sold in the summer now.

Berbatov got left out of the squad for that Barcelona final, now Rooney left out of this. Bizarre.

or genius.. But at 7pm feels bizarre.

 Yeah this is like leaving out Berbatov

Our plan for Ronaldo seems to be "feck it" and hope Rafael and Nani gang up on Arbeloa.

The adverts run for 15 minutes before kick off.

"Hello and erm, welcome to one of the biggest games in world football, we will talk to Gareth, Lee and Roy after the break........"

Must be gutting for Evans too. He's done nothing wrong. But Vida and Rio provide experience.

That's it, I've decided. Sir Alex Ferguson knows more than me about Football and I'm going to trust him

We need everybody to be very good today - but Nani and RvP need to be on fire!

fergie right now.

Yep, it's hard to be too bothered about it though when the alternative is to listen to Adrian Chiles.

Big shock in leaving out Wazza but trust Fergie, he knows what he's doing.By the way MUTV is on freeview at the moment, great watching the build up instead of a bunch of udder pullers in Emmerdale.

I'm glad Nani is starting but it does make me wonder why he didn't at least get a run out at the weekend to freshen him up now.

Certainly an ... unexpected line up, let's just see!

I'm scared :nervous:

Hopefully Nani has a belter of a game. I think he is on for the counter attack, and that he can hold the ball in a tight spot. Which baffles me why Kagawa isn't starting.

Anyway, 1-0 Nani.

In Fergie we trust.

Good luck tonight guys watching this as my wife is out! Keep the English flag flying in Europe.

Contender for 2nd most shocking dropping after the Fat Ronaldo in the world cup final in 98?

To be honest I'm not as annoyed about this as when Fergie started Ji Sung Park last season at the Etihad. That made far, far less sense than this decision. Surely sticking on the ineffective, out of form, unfit Park for his first start in 3 months in our most important game of the year massively trumps leaving Rooney on the bench here?

Oh and that batsh*t mental decision went well for us.

I fully expected Giggs to start. Had him in my line-up on this thread and the game.

Rooney not starting is my concern. :nervous:

There's no way Giggs should be starting ahead of Rooney or even Anderson. We need energy and vibrancy in tonight's game which only the younger players can provide. Rooney should have started ahead of Giggs - experience is overrated. I hope to God we are not 2 goals down before adjustment is made.

Yeah, we have a loaded bench but we can only make 3 changes - that's not taking into discount if a defender gets injured before half time. This is the shittiest line-up since Rome 2009.

put simply, win the game, it's genius.

lose the game, utter madness.

I don't actually think it that's bad, bit defensive but at least they won't counter us. Giggs will no doubt give the ball away a lot but he'll also thread a few perfectly for RVP, Rooney can't do that.

Oh Christ.

Don't get me wrong that team is good enough to win any game but leaving out your 2 form players from the weekend looks like an unnecessary gamble.

That won't be worth much if we don't go through. We all know what will be waiting for SAF at the caf if that happens.

Nobody will take his posts seriously any more.

If this match goes as most expect then it will be won or lost in the final half an hour. With Rooney on the bench we will have the greater injection at this time hopefully.

The risk is that Madrid outscore us in the first hour and that without Rooney we lack the firepower to stay in the game. However, I think we are set up to be compact and will stay in the game.

SAF more going for FA Cup then CL this season? Nah the line up is not THAT bad.

The team is great apart from Rooney. There's not a thing that convince me to say he should be on the bench tonight, 11 goals in 14 games and after having a great match at weekend its the strangest decision since Park played at City last year. Let's hope it pays off.

My Opinion. Fergie reckons RVP will be up alone on his own for the start of the game and Ryans brilliant over the top balls to RVP recently may come into play here
