European Champions League Group Stage Match
Old Trafford
Tuesday 2nd of October 2007
KO - 19:45

Tight game, 1-0, maybe 2-0. ;)

I hope to see this line up , although I highly doubt we will.

--------------VDS--------------

Brown-----Rio----Vidic-----Evra-

---------Carrick---Scholes------

Ronaldo------Tevez------Rooney

--------------Saha---------------

Need Hargreaves, make sure Carrick remembers to eat some Crunchy Nut, he needs to wake up.

shall we have a sweep on 'how many posters think it will be another 7 goal wonder'?
i'll start.. i think there will be 6 posters who are so delusional.

as for the game i am going to push the boat out, and in keeping with the season so far 1-0..brown 36 mins.

I'll take a guess based on nothing really, just what comes into my head first.

2-0

Tevez 65'
Giggs 90'

This will be a really tough game as they have added some quality players to their team.

Its very hard to predict the formation for a european game because we have so many options but I'll go with this:

----------------------------Pig--------------------------------

Brown--------------Rio-----------------Vidic--------------Evra

------------------------Hargreaves------------------------------

---------------- Scholes-----------Carrick------------------------

Ronaldo------------------Tevez-------------------Rooney

My prediction: 3-1 Utd

7-1. Rooney (3), Tevez (3), Carrick. Totti for Roma.

Team will be

GK: PIG

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

CM: Carrick
CM: Hargreaves/Giggs
CM: Scholes

RW: Ronaldo
CF: Tevez
LW: Rooney

Obviously wont be 7-1 again but I do think we'll get the win again, I'm going for 3-1 utd, Rooney x2 and Ronaldo

you think this will be our biggest win of the season so far.. with them wanting revenge so much..?

Well technically we'll only be winning by a 2 goals difference so it matches our win against Chelsea :smirk:

That regardless they can want revenge all they want aint gonna matter a jot if the team clicks and plays to it's potential which is surely only a matter of time before happening

1-0 Roma. Giggs OG 89'

Actual prediction 1-0 to United courtesy of Ryan Giggs.

we all know the capabilities but i dont wish to sound like citeh fans have for the past 30 odd years prior to this season..
so i will wait untill it happens and still apreciate the wins(when we get them), although the win over brum today was dreary and not like our style at all, but i feel, the team on the whole today were having an off day unless they had one eye on the roma game.....

Let me remind you of the game we played before last seasons meeting at home against Roma - We lost 2-1 away to Portsmouth! Also we hardly put in a great performance against Sporting but still outclassed Chelsea the next game with arguably our best attacking performance of the season.

Todays game will have no reflection on Tuesday.

i just envision a typical italian chess style footie game tight as fook, 10 men behind the ball, sorry!

Well they certainly aren't going to exact any revenge playing like that are they. :smirk:

ALL OUT ATTACK

Drop Scholes?

He's been very average the majority of this season, but he's too important to drop. Plus, no chance SAF will drop him.

he looked like he had a hangover or something today, he can't run worth shit these days. He's a fantastic player, always capable of anything, but on form i'd drop him, alright.

Carrick was covering him all day, he can't do it all himself all the time, same with Hargreaves, you've to attack and defend as a team, and he hasn't got the energy for ninety minutes vs Roma. No chance.

He does seem to slow down our counter attacks quite a bit lately but I still wouldn't drop him yet

Carrick isnt much of a runner himself to be honest. Hargreaves is much better at the holding role than Carrick, which therefore allows Scholes to push forward without worrying to defend. Carrick, bar a few games last season didnt exactly look great while going forward, I don't think he's the answer to the driving force we need in the centre of midfield.
That said, I agree that on current form, Carrick has been the more productive player out of the two, but we all know that SAF simply will not drop Scholes, for now anyway.

I expect that Fergie put Hargreaves on Totti. If Hargreaves is fit...

I dunno, I'm predicting a 2-1 win. This game won't consists of much goals, but I certainly happen to think that we've got what it takes to win this game.

Probably 4-4-2 formation, with Rooney and Tevez starting, with Saha on the bench. Hopefully Hargreaves is fit.

Doubt that Neville will be playing this game, so I'd imagine Brown starting.
The defensive line is pretty much the same. Although I somehow a misunderstanding between the GK and defenders would lead to conceding one goal.

But we've got the firepower to change results, with Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, Saha to help us get the goals we need for a win.

Central midfield would be Scholes and Carrick. Right wing as Ronaldo. Left wing, I'm curious who SAF would put there, but it'd most likely be Giggs.

I'd be expecting Heaton as GK bench. Pique, Saha, O'shea, Nani, Anderson, Eagles is what I predict to see in the bench.

bench : heaton ( :nervous: ), Oshea , pique , anderson , saha , eagles , giggs

hope anderson gets some minutes ... and hope saha starts , but dont think it'll happen .. tevez was great yesterday and rooney will murder fergie if he's dropped
