Kick Off -KO 17:30 BST

What's up slags? No thread yet?

If you're into forms and trends and what not, we're probably due a bad result against Tottenham, not least at Old Trafford. But, feck all that voodoo stuff, right?

3-0

RVP at the double

--------------Degea----------------------
-------Rio---Evans--Carrick---Evra-------
-----Rafael----Roney--Scholes--Van persie
---------------Kagawa--Chicarito-----------

--------------Degea----------------------
-------Rio---Evans--Carrick---Evra-------
-----Rafael----Roney--Scholes--Van persie
---------------Kagawa--Chicarito-----------

DDG
Rafael Evans Rio Evra
Scholes Carrick Kagawa
Van Persie Hernandez Rooney

Same exact players.

--------------Degea----------------------
-------Rio---Evans--Carrick---Evra-------
-----Rafael----Roney--Scholes--Van persie
---------------Kagawa--Chicarito-----------

:wenger::eek:

I would play:

DDG - Rafael, Rio, Evans, Evra - Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley - Kagawa, Rooney - RvP.

with rooney back, rvp picking himself and nani poor id like to see kagawa play from the left.......not as a winger but similar to the way city have used nasri.

playing him there might, MIGHT just mean that we pass him the fecking ball!!

I was trying to work out how to fit RvP, Rooney, Nani, Valanecia & Kagawa in but now I find out that Valencia is injured.

Nani on the right & Rooney/Kagawa coming in from the left but fairly fluid & Rvp up top.

Anderson or Cleverly? Always a difficult one, both scored yesterday so confidence is up.

Carrick, of course.

Back line of who ever we have available, so:

...................Rvp
Rooney........Kagawa........Nani
............Anderson/Cleverly?
..................Carrick
Evra........Ferdinand.....Evans.....Rafael

Not too hot on formations, but you know where they operate so it makes sense 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 I suppose.

--------De Gea--------
Rafael--Rio--Evans--Evra
------Clev--Carrick-----
Nani-----Rooney---Kagawa
-------------RVP---------

Don't care if it's 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 but I want us to play with the same fluidity in our attacks like yesterday. Not the rigid 4-4-2 where everyone has to keep to their positions and there is no movement off the ball. Only Carrick needs to stay in one position in order to protect the back 4. Cleverley/Ando, RVP, Nani, Rooney & Kagawa should be given the freedom to interchange positions.

Really surprised after last nights performance that nobody is going for a wingless wonder formation, especially considering the poor form of our wingers at the moment. I am also surprised that quite a few people are going for Carrick and Scholes in the middle of the park. Surely we should be saving Scholes's legs and considering the preformances of Cleverley and Anderson last night, then surely one of those two deserves to start. That isn't even mentioning the painful lack of mobility that the Scholes - Carrick combination has.

My team

------------------De Gea-----------------
Rafa--------Evans--------Rio---------Evra
------------------Carrick-----------------
-----------Clev------------Ando----------
-------- Rooney-------------Kagawa------
-------------------RVP-------------------

Edit

Sorry didn't see this, great minds etc.

Jimy_Hills_Chin has basically said what I was thinking:

Lindegaard
Rafael---Ferdinand---Evans---Buttner
Cleverley---Carrick---Anderson
Rooney---Kagawa
RVP

That assumes Rio and Rafael are fit; if the former isn't then I guess we need Evra's experience despite the strong temptation to give Buttner a run at left-back. Regardless of whether it's Evra or Buttner though, they should be able to provide the width down the left, even if Rafael is doing the same down the right, as we have an extra midfielder to cover for them defensively.

In reality of course I'm expecting some form of 4-4-2, with Scholes and Carrick in the centre, possibly with Giggs on the left. Unless of course Rio doesn't make it, in which case I'd expect Carrick at centre-back :nervous:

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Rafael
CB: Evans
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Buttner

RM: Nani
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Cleverley

CF: Rooney
CF: RVP

Subs: Lindegaard, Evra, Anderson, Fletcher, Kagawa, Hernandez, Welbeck

4-2-3-1

----------------------DDG (probably be Lindegaard)

Rafael--------Rio-------Evans------Buttner (probably be Evra)

----------Cleverley---------Anderson

Nani-------------Rooney------Kagawa (tucked in)

-------------------RvP

*Carrick will probably be there in midfield,& rightly so. Though from a personal point of view, I'd love to see the fast paced, energetic football from the above lineup. It'll probably end up being too open a game though!

Hoping for this XI:

Lindegaard
Rafael
Rio
Evans
Evra
Carrick
Cleverly
Anderson
Kagawa
Nani
RVP

Get the result, protect the defence.

Rooney shouldn't be just walking straight back into the team IMO.

Would love to see Rooney and Kagawa playing behind van Persie. That'd be chaotic to defend against.

Wouldnt mind this actually

That XI looks good to me.

They have Dembele don't they? I'd normally opt for Scholes, especially when he has had a bit of a rest, but I think we'll need a lot of energy for this one.

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Anderson
Nani Kagawa Rooney
RVP

That's what I would go for anyway.

I'd bring Anderson off the bench.
We handled Dembele pretty well until towards the end when our players started tiring. And Anderson wont last the game.. plus he looked exhausted towards the end last night.
Play Rooney central and Kagawa from the left and Rooney can track Dembele if we are under the cosh.

The thing is, we'll probably need cover on the left to help Evra too. Walker and Lennon against just the left back and no left winger would be a problem..

Phelan will think of something.

Given that Kaboul, Ekotto, Naughton, Parker and Adebayor are out due to injury, I can pretty much predict that our starting line-up will be:

------------- Friedel
Walker - Gallas - Caulker - Vertonghen
-------- Sandro - Dembele
----------- Sigurdsson*
Lennon --- Defoe --- Bale

* Dempsey could possibly start instead of Sigurdsson.

This assumes no further knocks from last night's game are reported.

Cleverley deserves to start this game. He has been quietly going about putting in good performances and he has finally scored for us. With Dembele and Dempsey around, it might a little hard for Scholes to keep up with them and help defend but Tom has bags of energy. Anderson starting has to be another option.

I'm fairly confident our side will be:

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Rooney Kagawa
Van Persie

With the 3 behind RVP doing plenty of rotating.

So, is Valencia injured or not? I don't think Anderson will start, looked shattered at the end yesterday.

I was listening to radio commentary, he looked that bad huh?

I'd much rather see three in our midfield and particularly not Carrick-Scholes.

I'm also a bit wary of Evra not receiving enough assistance from further up the field, teams have been targeting that flank much too often [Spurs will undoubtedly do so with Lennon at their disposal] and we need to offer up a counter to it.

What's this about Valencia?

Anderson was definitely shattered. Get that guy into world class shape and he'd be a terror.

edit -$@#%#$%# it Valencia!!!! #$%@#$@ing injuries!!! $@#$@#$ing Glen Johnson! And #$%#$ Kevin Davies while I'm here.

How can anyone want Scholes/Carrick against Dembele and Sandro?

Spurs have way too much physicality and energy for Scholes/Carrick even if we are at Old Trafford.
