Saturday 29th December 2012
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 1500 GMT

I'd like to see:

-----------De Gea----------
Rafael--Smalling--Vidic--Evra
------------Carrick---------
Cleverley------------Kagawa/Young
-----------Rooney----------
---Hernandez-----Van Persie

Edit: seems Rooney is injured and will miss 2-3 weeks :(

De gea
Jones Ferdinand Vidic evra
Valencia Carrick cleverley young
Rooney van Persie

This please. When is Rafael supposed to be back? If he's ready for this then play him. Not sure if lung is actually injured or not, also not sure if kagawa will be ready. Hopefully we don't get any more injuries though and we're back to full strength by the time New Years comes along. Anderson, nani, kagawa, all should be back by then.

holy shit they're fifth. sorry, my bad. I don't pay attention to other teams results during this period. Only after Jan is when I usually look at the table for other teams.

We need Vidic for Lukaku... and someone quick for the others.
West Brom have done very well this season.. but you'd expect a win at home.

We'll need a strong midfield as well. That's where WBA are best, imo, with Mulumbu, Morrison and Yacob.

I was speaking with my friend who is a season ticket holder at West Brom.

He reckons Lukaku is a bag of shit, even though he seems to have a good record so far this season, he reckons that we only see his highlights on match of the day but in reality he is actually pretty shit :wenger:

Hopefully this one is more routine.. Giggs and Scholes are guaranteed to not start regardless of whoever is fit in time. Hopefully the injuries to Rooney and Young aren't that bad, or that Kagawa or Nani are fit at last.

Evans had a mixed game so I wouldn't be surprised if Vidic starts, but knowing SAF with his tinkering over Christmas we'll bring Vidic in but replace Ferdinand instead. I'd rather Rafael and Jones at Right Back, but if they're not fit then Smalling it is.

On the basis that everyone who is injured is not back for this...

de Gea
Smalling Vidic Evans Evra
Fletcher
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Hernandez van Persie

But I'm expecting at least one of Rooney/Young will be back (they might replace Valencia instead of Hernandez though).

Going to this one, so hopefully we can have the great attack of today, but none of the utter wanky defending!

Listening to Fergie's post match interview it seems certain that Fletcher and Cleverley will play. And seems likely Young will be back too.

Hard to tell with Welbeck's illness, but am sure we won't go with him and Hernandez up front.
No mention of Rafael at all, so he must still be out, one of those annoying, "is 50-50" type affairs and ends up missing a month.

Vidic will definitely come in, with probably Rio sitting out.

therefore, I make it

Long and Odemwingie didn't start today - that might give us an idea as to who will start at O.T

Might not be a bad shout actually.

Stiffen up the midfield a bit after conceding so many recently, give games to the fresh Cleverley and Fletcher, whilst keeping Hernandez on the bench in case we need to either inject attacking impetus, or rest VP, depending on how it's going.

The bench today was scarily lacking anything attacking.

SUBS: Lindegaard, Evans, Buttner, Giggs, Kagawa, Scholes, Hernandez.

Am fairly sure Kagawa will be involved after playing in the warm-up today. Wouldn't be surprised to see Rafael, Young or Welbeck involved as well.

You know what would be nice?? Just a quiet, comfortable, 2 or 3 nil win... is that too much to ask for?

de Gea
Smalling Vidic Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Young Kagawa Welbeck
RVP

You could swap one of the 'wide men' for either Fletcher, to add more steel in midfield, or Hernandez, to give Kagawa and RVP someone to feed assists to.

Seems a bit harsh to ask Kagawa to be the creative crux of the side in his first game back, but with Rooney out he's the best option there. You could drop Young/Welbeck, add Fletcher, push Cleverley to CAM and move Kagawa wide, to take some of the pressure off him. But personally I reckon Cleverley's better as a proper midfielder, and a potentially rusty Kagawa is still a stronger option at number 10.

Team should be...

5-4, last minute winner after trailing or drawing for most of the match. The winner will be the first time we take the lead.

None of our matches are on TV over the holidays. :(

Not sure what team we'll put out given the injury problems. West Brom have looked less impressive recently and seemed to be lucky against QPR today, our firepower should see us through but I expect we'll need to score at least 2.

It's time we stop screwing around and start spotting our opponents two goals before we get on the scoresheet.
